Cam will not be NFL ready at all. Von Miller is small and doesn't fit Denvers scheme. AJ Green will have a rookie QB and Peterson is just a CB. To me the obvious answer is Dareus and not just because I am a Bills fan.

Very interesting perspective. I like it.

All have better records and better talent as well as being on the upswing. I think the guy you were responding to said it pretty well.
-
Why? Do you prefer Trent?....lol

I can't recall myself but didn't Kansas City start looking competent on offense when Thigpen came in with the pistol? I think they were absolutely horrible before Thigpen got them going. In a vacuum those numbers aren't awesome but I think that it was a considerable improvement from where they were and also in the win loss column. Didn't look it up but I think I recall them getting a little something going.
-
OH GOD NO!!!! Thigpen makes a lot of sense given his history with Gailey. I would say that there is the potential however incredibly remote that we consider Vince Young. The guy needs to learn how to play QB and still has maturing to do but the Bills bench could be the place for that. Given the rebirth of Vick some team, maybe us, will consider looking at him as a reclamation project.

would you want carson palmer for a mid round pick?
PDaDdy replied to tbonehawaii's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a coincidence I'm not ready to put him on the wall of fame either. I see you are sticking with the sensationalist comment tact. Personally I look at QB play for the most part independently of TEAM record. Sure Flutie won more games with the a top 3 ranked Wade Phillips defense. Sure Bledsoe won more games with a top 5 ranked Gregg Williams defense. I'm looking at TDs, yards, balls, QB rating to an extent, etc. For a QB you really like you have a lot of negatives that you point out. I wonder what it is you like so much about him that overcomes all of the things you think he sucks at so that you overall really like him ???? Sounds a little fake. -

I think it is certainly within context. I absolutely agree that Bledsoe was the better QB at the time. We agree there. My point is even though the judgement was misguided, Bledsoe apparently wasn't playing QB at a high enough level to hold off a really raw second year guy who they saw better mobility and upside with at the time. There are different ways to look at it. One way is taking ownership of your destiny. If you are playing at a high enough level you don't get benched. Although he was playing at a higher level than JP he wasn't playing well enough to not get benched for the assumed "future" at the time. Farve held off Aaron Rogers for years. Not because Rogers sucked. Not because Green Bay didn't see Rogers as the future. It was because Brett played well enough to take the job despite the natural tendency to give your young guy the reigns. -

"Wow?" You're kidding right? You throw in Flutie and act shocked and amazed? "Holy sensationalism batman!" Good call on Flutie but look back with open eyes not rose colored glasses. Flutie's QB numbers were pretty similar to Fitz last year. Bledsoe? He had one good year and was even replaced by JP Losman. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. I seriously question whether you "really like Fitz". Do you actually like him and just have a distorted view of Flutie and Bledsoe's history thinking they were SO much better than Fitz OR are you just saying you really like Fitz in an attempt to seem like you are providing an unbiased opinion when you say he is no where near what the other 2 were when the numbers clearly show he was? -

We should get the best free agent QB that we don't have to give up any picks or players for!!!! QB is lower on our list of needs than OL and LB help. If we are going to give up anything or absorb enormous contracts it should be to fill positions of greater need. -

He will be awesome for us in retirement A few years ago I would have been all for it but do we really need a guy they say this about: "According to NFL Films guru Greg Cosell, Carson Palmer's arm strength has clearly decreased on tape since his 2008 elbow injury. "Not the same passer he was," Cosell says. "Can't drive the ball and make stick throws." Palmer's passes have been fluttering since he tore ligaments and tendons in his throwing arm three years ago. Cosell would've ranked Palmer behind only Peyton Manning and Tom Brady from 2005-2007. If owner Mike Brown were smart, he'd sell high on Palmer while it's still possible. " -

NO!!!!... but I would want a LT or a RT or RG or a OLB for a mid round pick. If we are willing to give up a mid round pick to get somebody why not use it to fill a position of need instead of back hand bashing Fitz? -

Heh. Just another desperate vote of no confidence in Fitz. Let the guy play a freakin season going in as the starter. He has been the best Bills QB since Jim Kelly and the one year Bledsoe did well for us with a highly ranked defense. I don't know why people are so quick to want to throw out any BS at QB as long as it isn't Fitz. Give the guy a freakin shot. Maybe we should be giving up a mid round pick for a freakin RT, LT, RG or a run stopping/pass rushing OLB. What a waste of resources. -
Does drafting defense make sense?
PDaDdy replied to ieatcrayonz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not trying to be a jerk but....ROFLOL....let me know when our defense "gets too good" and then we can have this discussion again. Great point let's also not forget the yin and yang nature of offense and defense. If we had the #1 ranked defense your offense automatically becomes better because of the play calling you can make when you know that you have that kind of defense ready to shut down the opposition. More 3 and outs on defense means better field position, more attempts, rhythm and continuity on offense. You are also never "forced" to abandon the running game because you are being outscored by large margins. -

Not to mention the offense will continually play from behind and have to become one dimensional and pass all the time allowing the opposing defense to blitz all day long. -

I'm not sure what this has to do with the Bills situation. We don't have the best defense in history. In fact we had one of the all time worst. I guess I just don't understand what it is you are asking. If your defense sucks like ours .....the answer is a resounding YES. Drafting defense does make sense. If you have the best defense in history drafting offense probably makes more sense. That is an academic question to be sure as there is only one best defense in history. Who that is and by what metrics you determine that are up for argument. -
A lot of things did especially the fact that he is a ball-less, weak armed QB who sucked horribly and couldn't beat a 3-4 defense (our whole division) to save his life. I think it was around then that opposing defenses realized that he couldn't throw deep and the Bills became completely nonthreatening offensively. After that they packed it in and brought the heat. Couple that with the fact that Trent couldn't call out protections for his offensive line like Fitz could with the same personnel and ya gets what ya get.

It Looks To Me As If Mr. Wilson.....
PDaDdy replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Green Bay pretty damn good with all their injuries and a consensus franchise QB. New England...not so much but you have one of the best QBs to ever play the game and it pains me like you wouldn't believe to say that. What's your point? -
Bills have 0 players in top 100 players of 2011

Just 2 seasons ago, but it feels like a lifetime.
PDaDdy replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is going to sound snarky but in another forum I was in I was one of very few dissenting voices who asked who have we really beaten? Those teams we played had HORRIBLE records and were all under .500 teams by the end of the year. I also was one of the first to say Trent didn't have "IT"! He couldn't beat a 3-4 defense, he had a weak arm, checked down and provided no excitement what so ever. That being said I thought JP was the right guy for job I think he was still a better option than Trent but history has shown that neither were worthy. -
Drafts over. What free agents should we go after?
PDaDdy replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ALL OF THEM !! Especially someone who can hold the edge in the run game and rush the passer when it is found that Merriman really retired 3 years ago when he hurt his knee and got off the juice. -
I think in general as with everything want to see the best of the best. How many of us watch mens basketball but don't watch womens basket ball? Same game if you like it you should watch it. People do want to see the best of the best and that is why we buy jerseys, hats and tickets. If all people wanted to watch was football there is the CFL, the UFL and arena leagues. Why aren't they nearly as popular....best of the best. The players ARE the product as much as they are the employees. We forget this when we B word about them wanting to make money. It's a business! That being said both sides need to come to an agreement to get things moving. An idea that should be thrown out there is the idea of profit sharing and stock. Get the players invested in the franchise. When the franchise makes money the players make money. If the franchise doesn't make money the players don't make money. No owner wants to open the books to their private company but it would solve a lot of issues. Public or private these guys have to file tax returns? That could be a fair compromise instead of opening every detail of the books.

If the guy just watched all the video he could find and read all the sites most importantly this one he could have done his job in his sleep !!!!! It's easy and without accountability to be an internet forum GM but collectively I think this forum has made a lot of good calls and pointed out some of the rather OBVIOUS bad ones. Maybin over Orakpo cough cough...Whitnter over Ngata...cough cough....Mike Williams over Bryant McKinnie....etc.
