DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!!!!
-
What I am not getting is where does Shawn Merriman play? Granted, I have said the lights might be out for good as he hasn't done anything in 3 years but if he comes back Moats or Kelsey move to the bench. Personally I am in favor of Kelsey moving to the bench but we just game him one of our typical high paying mediocre performer contracts last year.

Pats set up to make a run at Andrew Luck
PDaDdy replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
DUMB! They just drafted Mallet in the 3rd this year and still have Brady. -
What would you give up to get Luck in next years draft
PDaDdy replied to jkx2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not much....maybe nothing. Not saying he isn't worth it I just wouldn't give up too much. As another poster said we need to see what he does this year. He could drop like Locker. -
Competition at every position is good and necessary unless it's at QB. If you have 2 you don't have 1 is the old saying. You need to know who your guy is and give him the support that he needs. Bringing in the guys you mention to compete with Fitz doesn't accomplish much other than to wreck his confidence in my opinion as they are not clearly better and having been week 1 starters have had more of a chance to prove what they can do. That being said, bring in anyone you want as long as we don't have to give up any picks or sign ridiculous contracts to do it.
-
Who do you suggest or is this a backhanded Fitz bashing thread? We need another guy on the roster that is for sure. Wonder who is available. I am no Clausen fan but be real. Is it possible that a young QB who needed 1 - 3 years on the bench was thrust into a starting role WAY before he was ready due to injury and his haters jumped all over it to say he sucks?
-
Akeem Ayers That is if they don't trade the pick. The Doomsday scenario could have played out I hear? Denver took Miller and supposedly if Carolina had taken Dareus we would have taken Gabbert. Bullet Dodged. That being said Buffalo is probably looking at Andy Dalton. It addresses the QB need with a 4 year starter who is NFL ready. Fitz 2.0?
-
Great question about the D-line. Before the possibility of getting Dareus became even remotely possible I envisioned the line looking like this: If we are talking 3-4 supposedly he can play anywhere on the line. In 3-4 fronts he replaces Marcus Stroud or if Williams moves to DE and Troup starts at NT then he would likely displace Spencer/3rd round pick Carrington at DE who was inactive and couldn't get on the field for most of last year. In 4-3 fronts. There is much less of an issue. You let him play 4-3 DE with Williams and Troup at the DT positions. By all accounts he can play any position on the defensive line.

Hey Nix: We have the WORST run defense in the league
PDaDdy replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Prepare for the Doomsday Scenario. Remove any objects that could be thrown at the TV. Stock up on Jack Daniels. This is how it will likely go: #1 Dareus #2 Von Miller #3 Blaine Gabbert (Trent Edwards 2.0) This league is a rushing league and always has been! That being said teams are throwing MUCH more often now because defenses are better at stopping the run and offenses are better at exploiting coverage. Unfortunately our defense is an anachronism in that people can run all over us to the tune of 8 200+ yard rushing games and 32nd rank in the league. For this plan to work you need an elite hall of fame QB and some offensive balls. Keep in mind that the Colts didn't win a superbowl until their defense played lights out. -
Good points. The one guy we let go which I agreed with was Clements. He would have blown our cap up. Wire would have been fine at safety. I think he went on to start for Atlanta or the Ravens. If we kept him we potentially wouldn't have taken Whitner at #8 5 or so years ago. Going farther back you have guys like Nate Odoms and others we let go. Long story short we have used ~40% of our first round picks on DBs in the last 10+ years. That is insane! Imagine if we spent those picks on lineman for both sides of the ball?
-
This will be his 3rd year coming up I believe. I have been defending him to this point but the truth of the matter is rather obvious. Just because something may be true doesn't mean you have to yap about it and run a guy down. Anyhow. He is still learning to use his incredible physical gifts. His football "smarts" apparently need time to catch up. Hopefully this is the year.

I guess you can look at it either way. I chose to look at it as a positive. You bring up a good point though in that there is no doubt legal posturing going on on both sides. We may never know if he showed up in his sweats with a gym bag ready to go or if he was just stopping by knowing that he wouldn't be let in.
-
Some people are optimistic and see a young guy ready to go to work. Some people are pessimists and see nothing but some sort of real, imagined or speculated negativity. We all make a choice.
-
Well since the NFL is a legal governing body I guess we should listen to them instead of the court system.
-
Man We Bills fans are a miserable lot aren't we!?!?!? He did it for the money and incentives. His agent told him to do so. What about applause for Brandon potentially creating a legal issue as the lockout has legally been lifted but he turned away a player. He's not a rocket scientist/CB. What a bunch of whiny girls. I know western NY is gloomy but there is a bright side. Try looking at it sometimes. We don't get many opportunities. Right. Thanks for someone having a clue and seeing that this is likely a good thing instead of assuming the worst or as usual taking shots.
-
As long as you drink from it..... Kind of says it all doesn't it?
-
Make fun of his vocabulary and intelligence all you want. This kids wants to play. He showed up to work at the earliest available opportunity. We should be applauding his ethic not ripping his public speaking ability. *sheesh*...Bills fans. Maybe we don't deserve a good franchise if all we do is tool on people.
-
FREAKIN' A RIGHT!!!! It disgusts me when I think of all of the picks we have spent on DBs when we should have just kept the ones we had. Clements you can make a case for trading because his price tag was ridiculous but there have been others.
-
I hear ya. I do seem to get the impression that he is less likely to trade up or down than some others. It's all potential in my opinion on Cam. If he learns how to play QB at the NFL level or at least learns how to become some degree of a "running QB" like Micheal Vick at one end or Steve "Batman" Young at the other he could be freakin' awesome. They are obviously in love with the things you can't teach.

If you like the "draft experts" some say Peterson could be the best player in the draft. That being said it is a bad idea for the Bills due to the 3 issues that I stated. And no, we don't HAVE to take anyone. We can get a GREAT player AND they could actually be at one of several positions of need. Take a look at espn.com and the "scout inc's top 32". Peterson has a grade of 97 as do 3 other players. This is not even to mention the good size group of players with a ranking of 96 and 95. Far and away the best? I don't think so. He's good but there are many other good players at positions of need. Don't draft Peterson because Kiper says he is the best player. http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft

The trade down game is all about finding a partner that wants to move up and give proper compensation. Don't listen to all of the hype. Not saying you are guilty of this but some people think that it's just a matter of agreeing to one of a boat load of trade down offers they must think a front office gets everyday. Trade downs in the first round almost require a perfect storm. There has to be a player there that a team wants to move up for. The team that has the pick has to feel that the guy that they want is not there or it is way to high to get them. The team that wants to move up has to have the picks to do it. Those are just the obvious issues which don't even consider all of the other things that could go into it like not wanting to trade with division rivals, interpersonal issues between GMs, consensus in the front office between owners, GMs, coaches, etc. Buddy may not be in love with trading down but no GM rules it out. Trading down give you more options but less certainty. It might be a zero sum transaction ultimately or even worse the guy you moved down from and didn't select could go on to become the superstar that your whiny fan base will B word about for the next 10 years.

How you inferred that from what I wrote I have no clue. You might want to read what I wrote again you could be misunderstanding it. That being said Peterson is supposed to be great but "clearly most talented"? I'm not sure about that either. I forgot Parcells was known for drafting DBs early in the draft....oh....wait....ya.
