Bills match Bears Offer Sheet for Ryan Bates, 4 yr deal
Malazan replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's the season under "Best Season" in my post aka 2020. I did not differentiate between QBs. That is not how stats work. -

Bills match Bears Offer Sheet for Ryan Bates, 4 yr deal

The other thing I think people underplay here is that Beane literally just got another team negotiate a deal for him and he absolutely knows what Bates could get in FA. If you put a 2nd round tender on him.. no other team even sniffs around. The arguments on here had Bates value all over the place. If Beane was not sure and didn't want to negotiate against himself.. he needed another team to weigh in and he got one to do it.. -

BPA isn't a thing. Most teams use something that if you describe it would be "BVA" aka Best Value Available. Drafting BPA is a bad strategy. To explain this in the extreme, the BPA could be a QB.. a QB at 25would be a massive waste on the Bills though.. Same thing if you look in the draft and you're in the 2nd round and the BPA is a player who's going to have a hard time making the team then.. well, you have better value elsewhere. It's not drafting for need, but it's a balancing act. Then you look at things like a safety... don't draft a safety in the 1st because solid productive players are available in FA every year at that position and even the cost of the elite ones don't compare to pass rushers and wide receivers. -

Beane frequently says, you don't know what the market will be for the player until it starts.. too many factors. If he had tendered him at a 2nd round.. he was negotiating against himself. He's also telling the rest of the NFL what he values Bates at.. Now the NFL has told him.. exactly what the market for Bates is... The risk of someone giving Bates a crazy deal (and to be clear I think the Bears deal is on the high end) that they wouldn't match was low. Beane got the player, he doesn't have negotiate a new deal with him and got information on how other teams in the league are valuing players. -

before you guys get too excited.. NFL Stats bots has some worrying statistics: Ryan Bates (C) had 0 pass completions in 2020. -
I'm a believe in you draft WRs and CBs. They're too expensive related to production. Diggs trade made sense with his contract in place even with the likely extension.

Will Detroit still be a city by then? I've seen Robocop

As I said all along.. Beane loves to let other teams do the work for him. Beane absolutely knows what Bates market value is now.. -
You don't draft a guard in the 1st ... or do you?

Drew Rosenhaus says there’s more bombshell trades coming.

If Rosenhaus told me the sun was gonna come up tomorrow, I would not bet my bottom dollar. -

Evolve or die. Too much of the time the offense struggled and it seemed like Daboll would just go to "Give it to Allen on a run". It felt like last season he really depended on that a bit too much. I mean, I get it, you have an Allen, you use him, but maybe help him out.. the schemes just didn't seem to be there this year that were there last season that let them ignore even pretending to have something besides Allen in the running game.

This players/teams/league have accountants and those accountants write any personal/corporate donation off.. If you're talking about eliciting donations.. well that money is coming from the community so they're not really putting it into the community. Players/Teams/League don't start these up randomly out of the goodness of their hearts. Not sure how you got confused. The fans aren't asking for a new stadium. I suspect if the stadium wasn't going to cost a dime of taxpayer money that most fans would still vote to to keep the current one. The NFL wants the new stadium and has basically told the Pegulas to make it happen. So WE don't owe the NFL a new stadium would be more accurate.

The most frequent complaint seems to be that it 'has more give' or 'moves more' than other fields. Why they don't change it.. who knows? Might be because keeping up with a grass field with two teams playing their home games during the season would be rough. The NFL investigated the field and said it meets all standards. The NFLPA says that the tests only test hardness/softness and don't consider other factors like how it shifts when you plant your foot. It can be quite jarring if you plant and the ground doesn't respond like you expect it too.. Metlife perennially is among highest for injuries occurring in a stadium, but is not in the top 5 of 'injuries per game'. However, both Jets and Giants players have complained along with several other teams. It is certainly the 'vocal' leader in the effort to replace turf fields from the players.

7 pages.. Can we hit Von Miller numbers on Taiwan Jones?!

This is going to make a lot of people stupidly angry.

Ding Ding. Ding. Go look at the Jets and Dolphins forums. Watson shouldn't be allowed in the league and should be in jail. Everyone should quit being fans of the browns.. ..then Tyreek "beats children" Hill is a possibility and "It wasn't that bad." and "He's serving probation so he's paid the price already". Well, the Jets until he chose the Dolphins then it was "I'm glad. He's not that good and I didn't want to have to cheer for him."
-
The Jets turned over their training staff under Douglas, but the results have been similar in terms of man-games lost. There may be something to the grumbling of several Jets/Giants players that the field at MetLife sucks and increases the risk of injuries.

Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]

Dolphins fans think they're a superbowl contender and have pulled ahead of the Bills now.. same as every year before the season starts.. -
Tyreek seeking a trade [Now: Traded to the Dolphins]
Malazan replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you use the point value chart for the draft, the Jets deal was actually worth more. It's said they offered basically the same contract Miami did as well.
