they seem to do better with FAs than draft picks for sure. on DL: Groot was a great pick, but Basham and AJ are underwhelming. Oliver looks like an early 2nd rounder.
I said there was no rule against it, and that it requires contact in the NFL. Actually read what I wrote. He had poor positioning and was in phase. Period. He needed to turn his head, and he had a play on the ball. Instead, TD.
faceguarding IS a thing. Required contact (becomes PI above HS).

Jackson was not out if phase. He simply had poor technique.
if it was Daboll v McD, it looks like we chose wrong.
competent v. championship caliber are different. we had a hard time getting hc candidates in the drought due to our roster. I’m not saying can McD right now, but another disappointing end to the season may warrant it.
so why did we get gashed in the running game AGAIN in the second half.
you are not taught to play the hands. that is a clear way to get a PI at best unless extremely lucky. Turn around, play the ball, and any contact is permitted. What Jackson did was faceguarding.
if we beat crappy teams and have a disappointing playoff exit, someone or all the coaching staff needs to go. Wasting Allen years here.
He is not in the league of Seattle’s coach either. He is mediocre as a coach. The Marvin Lewis type. We are trending to being the Marino dolphins if we don’t fix something. Either McD and staff figure it out or time to try something new.
we have had adversity. We lost each time. In the past 2 seasons we are LAST in the NFL in close games.
what. Really!!??
Accuweather shows a high of 41 on Sunday. Was going to drive up and take 10 year old son. worried game gets delayed? what happens to stubhub tix then?
the adjustment to stop the run? Better tackling fundamentals, safety in the box. And you only “face-guard” a WR if you are way out of position. Jackson was not.
Yeah, I like your point. But it seems there is just something systemically off right now. It’s the system. Why the second half meltdowns? Why is Allen tossing pics in the endzone? Why no running game? Why can’t we convert short yardage? Why do other teams hit long gains on 3rd and 4th and long? Why are we the worst team in the NFL over the past 2 years in close games?
Having those players back will help, but I’m not sure will prevent an outcome like today.
I’m not seeing a ton of knee jerk reactions here. I’m seeing people pointing out why we lost in a manner we have lost other games (poor second half playcalling, etc) and discussing how to fix it. You may not like their suggestions but I would not dismiss them all as knee jerk. (a few may be..for example trade Allen or something—which 0 people have proposed, but not all).
we abandon all common sense in play-calling on both sides of the ball in the second half.
A fair point. I would argue that Dorsey should not have a QB who is missing open guys and instead throwing at covered guys throw the ballin the endzone (where he has demonstrated issues over the last 2.5 games) in OT.
what were the bold words??
