  1. The collective future contracts of Fitz-Jackson-Johnson went down today, saving us a gross of $12 million.
  2. Great point... Marv was brought in because Donahoe was a snakeoil salesman and we had just suffered through a blowhard coach in Williams and a meathead in Mularkey. Marv and Jauron were a transition to stop the rocking of the ship and get it back on course. It wasn't until Modrak was out of here that we stopped with the gadget guys in the draft. I still don't understand why Polian wasn't on the phone with Cincy for Carson Palmer a month ago. It's almost too late to salvage at this point.
  3. I think Wanny wanted to work with him inside and take advantage of his blitzing abilities if he could hold his own in coverage and recognition. He isn't built like a typical outside guy in that guys can get leverage on him easy with their reach mismatch. Then again....Jason Taylor is built so that an average Buffalo housewife should be able to knock him off his feet, but he had a pretty good career.
  4. David Nelson deep Way deep in Bengals bungholes Checkin their prostates
  5. Wanny says to send some Joe's up on Oct. 15th. To keep it arm's length, I'll give you my address. I'm not greedy...5 lbs medium should do. Thanks
  6. That's the only bad thing about Wilson....maybe too political. Last year when McKelvin got his lawn spraypainted, he took it in stride and said it was probably just some goofy kids getting too reved up. Wilson got to him and the next time he spoke, McKelvin was all about crossing the line of player security...yadda yadda.
  7. The entire SuperBowl era was pretty much bend don't break. When you have an offense that can score, it's smart to play defense with your head and let the other team make a mistake while you catch them offguard when you DO take chances. Especially against a team like New England who can pick you apart. I think Chan is very good and seeing matchups. Against a smart team like New England you play one way. I would think against a more athletic team like Cincy, you will see more of CJ Spiller and Brad Smith.
  8. The move is to party at a bar and take the $3 train ride into the stadium. I will give the dome props for one thing.....all you can eat peanuts at a few vending stands, or at least all you can carry away with you.
  9. On the stadiums..... NY Jets....gritty fans and tailgate, but all in fun. Not as loud on a whole, but they are smart fans and really get into it when it matters. Indy...not much chance to tailgate. Pretty sterile environment but this was the old stadium. Even with Manning/Harrison/James could scalp a 50yd line seat for under face Jacksonville....nice people and neat location near the water. Not very loud. Tampa....fun stadium and good fans when the team is good. They really seem to amp up for the big plays and it can be a scary place to play if Tampa has the momentum. Beautiful stadium and lots of options in and out. Miami...no tailgate, but they are underrated as fans. If things are going well it can get almost as crazy as the Ralph in there. Florida has a big college football rivalry, so you have fans that know football and how to whoop it up. Atlanta...worst stadium by far. You feel like you are at convention center or something. No tailgate...crappy stadium...and if the team isn't good you can carry on a conversation with someone 2 rows away most of the game.
  10. The NE game was the loudest in a while, but the late 80's early 90's were as loud on a consistant basis. We still have a "young" fanbase that needs to learn on the fly to go along with all the old coots. The NE game WAS the most emotional since the Houston comeback. Everyone in our section was hugging or had an arm around someone at the end of the game....and everyone was a friend. That's the coolest thing about this is you really see what makes Buffalo such a great city. You come to a realisation you aren't there for the Bills....you are there because you are a Buffalonian. Young, old, black, white, guy, girl.....didn't matter....everyone sort of had an emotional release together. I was also impressed how classy the Bills fans were. There were plenty of Pats fans around, and from what I can tell....it was mutual respect all the way for the most part. That is one thing I don't miss. When you know your team is good, some people take on a cocky attitude and you see more ignorance, fights, etc. It used to happen back in the 90's and you could even see it in the Sabres fans a bit in '07. The other day you saw the best in Buffalo come out. If the wins keep coming, I hope everyone keeps as level as the players have, because the other day alone was worth shoveling 120 inches of snow the next 3 winters.
  11. Maybe the most exciting thing about the 3-0 start is that they have done it without McGee. He will make everyone better on this team. Aaron Williams is not a good football player right now. Someday maybe. I trust Corner in there...especially as a #4. Now with McGee, Florence, and McKelvin, you have a 2a, 2b, and 2c to put out there 70% of the time. Just by more consistant overall coverage, you will give your D-Line that extra .2 seconds to get pressure or make a play on an extra 5-10 plays a game. Wilson and Scott are smart players and with McGee in there, the only bonehead they have to worry about is McKelvin. Now you slide over some help to McKelvin's side when he is at risk and the safetys can focus on their own assignments and recognition instead of subsidizing both McKelvin and a rookie. Barnett is great at awareness too. Basically you can play a lot of bend but don't break against the better teams and measure your shots for blitzes or jumping a route. Now it seems you can trust your offense to get you points.....so the entire philosophy of the team can be suited to the week's opponent and not just "hang on".
  12. A couple of side notes.....I think the Bills defense had a great gameplan and there was more pressure on Brady than many may have seen. The Bills decided to clog the lanes to stop the run and prevent the big play. You know Brady is going to put points up on you, so make them get them by going 6-12 yards at a time and use up as much clock as possible. Other than the Ocho drop and a few Welker squirt aways....it worked. It's amazing the flexibility you can have when you trust your offense to score. Once they knew what the Pats kept going to the well with, they were able to sit on a few of those routes and make the big INTs. Pretty much a classic rope-a-dope. Merriman had a nice game in my opinion. He almost had Brady a few times and was getting held on a few of their better plays. I thought the reffing was bad both ways yesterday, and one of the victims was Merriman. I was concerned about his lack of impact so far and paid attention to him more yesterday. He was getting around the edge and was part of the swarming run defense when he was out there. The Bills were not afraid to play the 2nd string D-Line even after long Bills offensive drives, giving Darius, Williams, Merriman and Kelsay time to really sit and recharge. Spencer Johnson is just a nice player to have out there. Give credit to the WRs in the run game. What a difference Jones, Nelson, Johnson make in sealing outside off. It is almost as if it turns into an 8 on 8 drill out there at times, and that is helping Freddy as much as the O-Line. Prepare for a Brad Smith to Fitz pass out of the wildcat the next few weeks. It has been there if they need to take a shot. Their offense has been so naturally potent that there hasn't been a need for gimmicks, which is sweet. Keep them locked in the cupboard for crunch time. With the win against NE, the Pats can go 10-2 and the Bills go 8-4 over the next 12, setting up a potential battle for the division and home field the last week of the season. 8-4 does not sound crazy at this point anymore.
  13. Stevie is growing up fast. A little thing that happened at the game today is that he was introduced last....in tandem with Donald Jones. Now I assume that had to be his idea knowing full well he would get a bigger cheer than Jones.....so they came out together. Little things like that are what is fueling this run. The biggest difference between these guys and the glory days is that just about every single guy on this team is likable.....and they are built on smarts and trust as much as talent. I would trust most of these guys to babysit my kid. Look at the list...Fitz, Freddie, Nelson, Wood, Kelsay, Williams, Edwards, Wilson....just smart guys who know how to play the game. Guys like Barnett, Florence, McGee when he is back, Darius, Merriman, Stevie....a nice mix of talent and effort and guys who want to win and bring the fans along for the ride. Even the guys who aren't always the sharpest are really good kids who you want to root for like McKelvin and Spiller. And a lot of it has to do with two country bumpkins who will tell you flat out, this is a pile of gold and this is a pile of $#!t.....and every now and then they'll find a gold nugget in someone else's pile of supposed dung. The honesty and character has been refreshing and sets the tone for the whole thing. It has been something special the past few weeks. It's great to see the 20 somethings and college kids get a taste of what it was like to have the team to look forward to week after week. When the Sabres are rolling it's like a small tornado.....but when the Bills get going, the whole thing turns into a category 5 hurricane. The younger generation has no idea of the power behind it. I think it's safe to say we at least now have a tropical storm warning posted for our area.
  14. Buy 84 Shares AGQ @119 Keep the change Cash balance 0 I remember my folks having a CD indexed to the S+P where you could not lose your principal and were capped at 12% for the year. I wonder if that is still available? I think the politicians don't mind seeing another disaster unfold so people don't scream when another bailout has to go through. It sure looks like it will have to happen.
  15. Do you hold physical or paper? Physical has decoupled from paper in a lot of this. The mint can't coin fast enough and premiums are almost 20% now with this fall. The sad reality is it's back where it was 2 months ago! Oil is interesting too. Long term you want in both of these....you are just playing with the devil using margin.

  21. When are you headed to South Florida? Hate those Dolphins! I'm impressed at the amount of people taking a stand. Times they are a changin, and sometimes good comes out of the bad. A few years ago this would have been moved to PPP with Satan's lair stomping all over it. On topic, I can't judge Kelly, that's between him and Him. But I can quote a passage that will make me think twice about Kelly's sincerity... Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves." Over a decade out of the league and an economic crash has seen more than one ex-Bill do stuff that isn't very kosher, in the name of $$.

  23. Alpha-mode failure being speculated. Basically, a 100-1 shot that had only been used in theory. Unreal
