I agree with the idea that EJ deserves time with the 1s. There is no doubt that his game has developed and that he has not reached his ceiling. However the early camp prognosis as well as the coaches getting caught up with Bills film was that he did not give the team the best chance to win, plus the fact that Greg Roman sought after Matt Cassell to run his possession offense. Tyrod Taylor is developing as well, seemingly a steal given that the Ravens have committed to Flacco and did not want to pay for Taylor's contract as a 2. His ceiling is also unknown. Quite honestly this is a good problem for the Bills to have. It does seem Rex is somewhat frustrated with the emergence of EJ as a competitor because he had likely decided on Cassell or Taylor already. Another QB to deal with gives him yet another decision. the bigger question is not who starts on day 1, but which QB gets released. Whether EJ deserves or has earned the right to start or practice / play with the 1s is one issue and they have time to make that call. However IMHO he has clearly earned the right and deserves to remain on the active roster.

when he was drafted, i thought and hoped he would wind up being the best bills runner ever.

a team with a legit passing threat (keeps defenses from stuffing the box) , and an offensive line capable of penetrating to level 2 are the ingredients spiller needs to become a superstar- if he hasn't lost a step from his injuries. since the bills had neither of those conditions while he was here, his A-level talent and explosiveness was wasted. his quickness made others seem as if they were in slow motion by comparison. such a shame.

correction to what was posted previously- after a little digging the game will not be broadcast as a network game or on Sunday Ticket. Only to local viewers in each market. So Yahoo gets the exclusive riights within the law of the NFL TV contracts. It's a big experiment. Also after a little more digging the best way to view the game will be on "Yahoo Screen", a new Netflix like app that comes bundled with new Roku set top boxes, Apple TV and a free download for Android on google play. Not only a big experiment for the NFL trying to find additional and global based revenue, but a grab for Yahoo Screen as a subscriber based outlet and Netflix competitor. My personal viewing method will be an existing Acer android tablet connected to home wifi, download "yahoo screen" and connect to the main TV with a $6.95 micro hdmi to hdmi cable. I already have a networked player (sony blu ray player) that plays Netflix very well. Ideally I would like to be able to download and install Yaoo Screen on that device, but not possible at present.

i don't mind watching with my computer but the game should still be on TV- either national network TV (it is a national game) or directv. remember when everyone was worried about the snow day game in detroit last season? DTV still showed it. one way or the other it's on TV, not just streaming.

Yahoo has exclusive live internet streaming rights. It does not have exclusive broadcast rights. DirecTV may be prohibited from streaming the game through their optional package, but not prohibited from satellite broadcasting. It should be on the Sunday Ticket.

I am alarmed at Polian's opinion. Shaun Hill is one of the worst QBs I have ever seen in the NFL.

I watched him outplay Jay Cutler for 4-games in Chicago the year before last. In the right system he will easily be good for more wins than Kyle orton was. Still not the long term answer but an upgrade from last season nonetheless.

No but I live in the Chicago area and have heard numerous accounts of this behavior over the years, peaking last season when the team crumbled. There is not one radio, TV or print reporter who covers the Bears extensively that would want him back next season- despite his outstanding receiving capability. His positive effects would be overshadowed by the negative impacts on critical team relationships and chemistry. Adversity that can destroy a team from the inside out. Toxic is the right word but unfortunately therapy is not effective enough.

unfortunately i beg the bills to avoid marshall like the plague. he has an uncontrollable ego centric behavior and personality disorder that causes all those around him to walk on egg shells because of his unpredictable rage and outbursts. it is difficult to understand until you know someone with that. extremely high maintenance. just say no.

sure it was a horrendous play call. but it had to be combined with equally horrendous execution for the outcome that we saw. wilson had tunnel vision, hurried the throw and took no time to contemplate other options, which is what he does well. Thanks for the insider insight and a detailed thoughtful post. Personally I hated Rex- because he made the Jets good and rubbed it in our noses. Aside from the loyalty issues, meddling ownership and poor drafting, I'm curious why you didn't mention the beginning of his downfall (IMHO) that being the departure of Brian Schottenheimer. HIndsight is 20/20 but he made the offense work and it was never the same (nor the team) after he left. As for loyalty being a fault, I hate the CEO cuthroat mentality. I like extending the benefit of the doubt for players who have produced for you- within reason. If Mark Sanchez ever shows up wearing the blue and white then clearly loyalty to a fault- a very big one.
