my local (chicago) sports radio show talked about this extensively today. these ratings are of high caliber because ex NFL scouts are employed by PFF. reading the bills rankings of the d front seven they seem to imply that the talent they have under performed. translation= coaching.

great points and well said.

Definitely not easy. Better odds than the lottery though. You can't win if you don't play.
-
it sure is. But the Bills have not rolled the dice often enough or very well.

Downsizing because teams are moving? They have a place to go, the new market will support the team. There is no reason to downsize. If the quality of play suffered because of a diluted talent pool it might make sense to downsize to improve the product. I used to believe the NHL should downsize for that very reason but no longer. NFL downsizing? I just don't see any good reasons why they should.

Lazy, unmotivated, big mouth players are in Big Trouble

Hopefully rather than kick ass and take names like some gunnery sergeant the new coach will try to lead, encourage and motivate the players that have enough talent to be productive. It would be a loss to get rid of players that would go on to thrive on another team. Morale was obviously low last season, especially on the defense. -
ayyyyyy the presser for the new coach mcdermott was molto grande, ahhhhh? here it is in case yous was wondering how to watch it. just copy the “link” into the browsers window. i give my coimplements to the new coach, he’s an OK guy and seems right with the man upstairs if you know what im sayin and the bills can use a little help right about now. i wish coach all the best. but i must also give my highest complements to the buffalo medias who made coach feel welcomed and with open arms. you got yer sal capacio, your vic carucci, your adam begnni your salvatore mairona….these guys are the best. i was just waiting for them to pop the cork on some vino and pass the bread bowl! coach mcdermott- welcome to buffalo – Salut! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be2ZHZuiC18

what ever happened to having a QB that could call the plays? they often understand the flow of the game much better by being in the middle of it.

Bills stuck with mediocre coordinators once again
jethro_tull replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have tried to think that this is year (3) of the Pegula era and therefore a new beginning. Unfortunately it isn't that simple. A business' culture remains embedded with the people that work there and unless there is substantial, immediate personnel turnover, the culture tends to remain as it is despite new leaders at the top. But there are some key differences- Mr. Pegula seems determined to do what it takes to build a winner and is willing to spend competitive cash to get there. -
greenie was focused too much on the gossip / scandal / character type of stories. they can do better. maybe they can steal amy lawrence from CBS -should be a drop-in for greenburg.

I hope not- the success the Bills offense had last year seemed to involved reducing the number of plays and simplifying most of the ones that were left. seems like those were A-Lynns best moves= letting them find their groove. should be easy to keep that going as long as they re-sign Tyrod. no thanks. i witnessed his destruction of the chicago bears offense- actually trading TE Greg Olson because he didn't fit his "scheme".

Offensive Coordinator candidates

personally not too concerned about OC. the success the Bills offense had last year seemed to involved reducing the number of plays and simplifying most of the ones that were left. those actions were Lynn's biggest impact. he let the players establish some rhythm, let them find their groove. should not be too difficult to continue as long as they keep Tyrod Taylor. -
How Well do the Bills Plan Ahead in the Draft?
jethro_tull replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But they would have been better off drafting for this year's expired contracts in last year's draft (or the year before). Not this year's draft. That's called chasing your tail and trying to fill current needs with player that aren't ready. -
It seems like the Bills are in a never ending cycle trying to fill immediate roster needs with an upcoming draft. Every year that I can remember the Bills are drafting players for positions they need at the time of the draft. DTs, OLs, LBs, etc. The problem is that most drafted players need one or two years to develop into starting roles. The other problem is that when the players finally do develop, other needs will spring up and they will never have a balanced, well developed roster. Never in sync if you will. They could do this by analyzing and tracking each position in terms of player age, player contract, player development progress, etc.and then draft one or two years in advance of that (or other) information. Have the Bills done well in planning ahead with their draft selections by anticipating the roster needs one or two years from a given draft, and allow those needs to be eventually filled with players developed within their system? Or- have they mostly been chasing their tail trying to plug urgent, unanticipated holes with "plugs" that don't fit well enough and as a result the ship barely stays afloat?

Rex needed to go because he wanted to start Taylor. -
hard to disagree. most of the blame goes to prior regimes. this next draft will be a good indicator of what he can do on his own.
-
a very reasonable position and probably for the best heading into the next draft.
