Depends upon how you want to look at it. The vast majority of people going to Bills games live in New York State. So if they did not spend money in the Buffalo area on those 8 or 9 days a year, they would still be spending it in New York and thus the sales tax would get to the state Bills game or no Bills game. So the true net impact of sales tax is negligible. Corporate tax, however much that is, should outweigh the net sales tax impact and would all go away if the Bills moved out of state.

For good reason.

Idea: C.J. Spiller to Detroit for 2nd Rounder?
CodeMonkey replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that is true then I guess we are left to hope like hell that Gailey knows what he is doing. -
There is infinitely more too it than a supportive fan base and selling out the stadium. The NFL is a business that wants to maximize it's profits. Buffalo is a small market poor blue collar town and the NFL can make much more money having a team in a affluent large market. It's not fans, its economics. Even a white knight would have trouble keeping the team in Buffalo in my opinion, but only time will tell.

Lets hope. But if Gailey thought Spiller was truly a 7.1 YPC back he would be in and Freddy would be watching. -

I understand your reasoning. But IMHO a 1st round RB should be able to step in immediately and we are into his 2nd season and can't find his way onto the field. He is awful short to be an effective WR at the NFL level in IMO as well. If Gailey wants to treat Spiller as a first round project then so be it, he knows far more than I ever will. But it just seems to me a luxury the Bills cannot afford. -
Or, that the Buffalo politicians want to get reelected. Or, that NYS legislature is even less intelligent that we give them credit for. You make the call.

You are 100% correct! The Bills should pay for any and all renovations and, of course, pass the cost along to Bills fans in the form of higher tickets prices etc. The percentage of Bills fans in the entire state is ridiculously small. There is NO REASON for non Bills fans to pay for renovations to the Bills stadium!!!

Having good starters in all positions is more important, IMO anyway. But yes, once all your starting positions are filled by capable people, depth is a beautiful thing and is necessary for the entire season and playoffs. -

Never said he should be traded for a late 2nd, or even traded. Just that a trade should be considered given how little he sees the field. If a first round, 9th overall, RB is healthy and gets so little playing time his 2nd season, I consider it a huge red flag. The Bills have far too many areas of need to afford to keep a first round pick on the bench in the name of "depth", particularly one that has shown so little potential thus far. But as I said in the same post you referenced, if Gailey truly sees him as a RB of the future then keeping him is the right thing to do. -

Not sure what makes you say that, he has 107 yards for the season so far. Not exactly an overwhelming amount of data to say the least. I hope you are right and, God forbid, Freddy gets hurt that CJ can step in and shine and be the Bills RB of the future. I just have seen no evidence that leads me to believe that would be the case so far. But if Gailey still believes in Spiller and isn't keeping him around simply to save face for having Spiller be his first pick as a Bill that's good enough for me. -
It is a criminal waste of money given the current state of the economy. It is shameful and disgusting that taxpayers continue to foot the Bill for these millionaires and billionaires (NFL).

Hmmm depth at RB. So far this year 6 games 15 rushing touches for 107 yards. Last season 14 games 74 rushing touches for 283 yards. Not a lot of depth at RB there say I. -
Kyle Williams will miss the Redskins Game

He doesn't any more than you know they weren't "scamming" the Bills. But it has been known to happen that players and particularly their agents look out for #1 just like the teams do. Very few people probably know how it really went down. Just hope he gets it fully resolved no matter how long it takes. -
Given the greed of the NFL, I suspect if this unlikely scenario came to be it would be blacked out in the NYC area.

Hopefully they split the difference and end up at 8.5 for 4-5 years. He has shown he is worth that much anyway. If they get a good young QB I can think of no one better to groom him with the possible exception of P. Manning.

Maybin has 0.5 less sacks than our entire team
CodeMonkey replied to deep2evans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do you care? The Bills could not find a way to put him in a position he could perform well and they cut their losses and let him go. If some other team had a D that he can thrive in that's fine. Except for the fact that the Bills play the Jets twice a year, how does this affect the Bills? -
The Bye. Unders won.

Anyone see the end of the Cowboys game?
CodeMonkey replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bottom line is, Gailey obviously understands about running the clock down and kicking a FG. Re-watch the end of the Pats game if you don't believe me. He knows Fitz is not an accurate passer better than we do. He also was well aware of the wind affecting the pass as well as any FG attempt. He made what he believed was the call that gave his team the best chance of winning. It didn't work out this time. If Fitz throws it better the Bills win and more threads appear proclaiming Gailey an offensive genius. Such is life at TBD. -
Best response ever

A Few Thoughts About The Game
CodeMonkey replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bolded part EXACTLY. And a touch pass deep is not putting a QB who is an inaccurate passer in a position to succeed. Very bad decision on Gaileys part to call that play and on Fitz's part for throwing it. Stevie didn't help matters any with the stupid facemask either. Eh, out of conference game and 4-2 at the bye is way better than I had hoped for at the bye. Overall I am happy. -
Thank God you posted this. I went 3 or 4 pages without someone whining about the refs and was beginning to think I was in the wrong forum

I'm with you. I expected more like 2-4. I'll take 4-2 now. Off games happen, plus we are banged up. The bye should help.
