I strongly disagree.
First, how does trusting his D come into play at all in this case with that little time left, 4th and 2 and 1 timeout? The D gets on the field and the game is over, and it was. Pass or run was the choice, the D doesn't even enter into the thought process.
Second, no one, and I mean no one in their right mind could possibly blame Gailey if he called for a run on 4th and 2 in that case.
They might take exception with which run play, for example if he called a sneak and it didn't work. But trusting Fitz to make a good throw when he only gets one chance at it is not a good bet.
