Rumor is Palmer to the cards now so that explains why Kolb became available. Who knows, maybe Kolb will amount to something in Buffalo. The Bills are due for some good luck.

Well there does seem to be a difference between Kolb and Fitz. Fitz was an iron man. He took serious physical abuse and rarely missed a snap. From what I read, Kolb has not been as durable. So FWIW, I suppose it's better that the backup would be TJax instead of pigpen.

There has been speculation about that but no direct evidence. The bottom line is that Regier is the GM. And the team has only gone downhill since he was given the job. The team is a complete joke now and is starting a big fire sale. How he still has a job in the NHL is a great mystery to me. He obviously sucks at it.

And I submit that taking a big gamble here is not the thing to do either. Who knows who the Bills end up with as a QB this season. TJax or worse perhaps. Even if Davis had a miracle happen, who throws it to him for his 1 or 2 years contract? I believe it makes more sense to use that cap space to take a shot at a few training camp cuts of other teams. The odds are better of something good, or at lease useable, coming out of that.

I'll go you one better than that. Kudos to Nix for not going bigger on the offer (assuming he didn't). The injury to Davis was a bad one ... one that not many (if any) return from at their previous level. Signing Davis was a Merriman-like gamble. One worth taking if the price was right. But not to be taken if the price was too high. Ultimately I think Davis was going to resign with the skins. Nothing short of a Mario-offer-you-can't-refuse would have brought him to the B-Lo. And Nix would have had to be a complete moron to do that.

I'm not quite as optimistic as you. The offense needs at a minimum a QB, a deep threat WR, and a competent catching and blocking TE. As far the the defense goes, with few exceptions every area except the line is suspect at least. The Bills have done little during free agency, either by design or just not being able to get anyone signed. And they have 6 draft choices. I'm inclined to call this another rebuild year and not expect much while Marrone and company get their feet under them and try and fill some of the holes much more than I would say the Bills are just a QB away from being competitive.

I do not at all think Nix has done a good job. I'm just saying just because a player/coach/GM sucks doesn't automatically guarantee that the new player/coach/GM is going to be better. Particularly it seems in the Bills case. In the Gailey for Jauron swap case as an example, it clearly was not better than the Jauron tenure.

Yeah but be careful about what you wish for. Remember back during Jaurons last year with the Bills? All kinds of statements like "I can't wait for the Nix Jauron era to end and the Whaley Gailey era to begin. It has to be better than the last 3 years.".

Cuse fans are, after all, just fans. Marrone is probably uniquely qualified to determine if he wants Nassib on the Bills. With the many MANY things to worry about with the 2013 Bills, drafting or not drafting Nassib is the last thing to worry about it would seem. That assumes of course that you think that Marrone knows what the hell he is doing.

This post sums it up perfectly. A good GM makes things happen. He doesn't sit and wait to see what happens. Last year was the time to make a move for a QB. Nix did not, because he felt he had his QB ... the same one he just cut. Now he either admits to another rebuild cycle and waits a year to get a QB, or takes a QB this draft regardless if he likes the QB much or not. Not a nice corner Nix has painted himself into.

That's why Buddy Nix gets all that money. To figure stuff like that out and make sure the Bills are one step ahead of the competition.

Unfortunately last years draft would have been the time to do that.

The way I see it the Bills will draft some QB unless they manage to get one in FA before then. So that means I will have to make at least a couple training camps this season because I will not have seen any of the QB's in camp before!

So that means when Philly takes Geno, Nix panics and takes Jones #8.

We aren't talking about Buffalo, this is Baltimore. Plenty of hotels in the area.

It's the right time of year for hope. But the past 13 soul sucking seasons make it harder and harder to muster much hope. Particularly with another rebuild cycle starting.

So piss poor coaching is why they are dumping so many players and have so many holes? And Nix had nothing to say about the whole Fitz situation?

I liken it to you are either a fan of the sport, or the fan of a team. For example, I am a fan of the Bills but not of tackle football (I watch almost nothing but the Bills). However, I am a fan of ice hockey with my favorite team being the Sabres and second favorite the Habs. But I will watch many many other games than just games of those two teams.

People also said that when asked why Gailey would do better than Jauron.

Because they are hard core Bills fans first, last, and always. He is apparently the next GM of the Bills therefore he is great until proven otherwise (at which point he is the sole reason for the teams bad performance and the next one is the great one).
