I do not at all think Nix has done a good job. I'm just saying just because a player/coach/GM sucks doesn't automatically guarantee that the new player/coach/GM is going to be better. Particularly it seems in the Bills case. In the Gailey for Jauron swap case as an example, it clearly was not better than the Jauron tenure.
-
Yeah but be careful about what you wish for. Remember back during Jaurons last year with the Bills? All kinds of statements like "I can't wait for the Nix Jauron era to end and the Whaley Gailey era to begin. It has to be better than the last 3 years.".

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
CodeMonkey replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cuse fans are, after all, just fans. Marrone is probably uniquely qualified to determine if he wants Nassib on the Bills. With the many MANY things to worry about with the 2013 Bills, drafting or not drafting Nassib is the last thing to worry about it would seem. That assumes of course that you think that Marrone knows what the hell he is doing. -
This post sums it up perfectly. A good GM makes things happen. He doesn't sit and wait to see what happens. Last year was the time to make a move for a QB. Nix did not, because he felt he had his QB ... the same one he just cut. Now he either admits to another rebuild cycle and waits a year to get a QB, or takes a QB this draft regardless if he likes the QB much or not. Not a nice corner Nix has painted himself into.
-
That's why Buddy Nix gets all that money. To figure stuff like that out and make sure the Bills are one step ahead of the competition.
-
Unfortunately last years draft would have been the time to do that.
-
The way I see it the Bills will draft some QB unless they manage to get one in FA before then. So that means I will have to make at least a couple training camps this season because I will not have seen any of the QB's in camp before!
-
So that means when Philly takes Geno, Nix panics and takes Jones #8.

Could we play Balitmore Thursday night season opener?

We aren't talking about Buffalo, this is Baltimore. Plenty of hotels in the area. -
Buffalo Bills huge competitive advantage is ....

It's the right time of year for hope. But the past 13 soul sucking seasons make it harder and harder to muster much hope. Particularly with another rebuild cycle starting. -
Nix not close on re-signing anyone.

So piss poor coaching is why they are dumping so many players and have so many holes? And Nix had nothing to say about the whole Fitz situation? -
Reminder of why we are Bills fans
CodeMonkey replied to Drewgetz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liken it to you are either a fan of the sport, or the fan of a team. For example, I am a fan of the Bills but not of tackle football (I watch almost nothing but the Bills). However, I am a fan of ice hockey with my favorite team being the Sabres and second favorite the Habs. But I will watch many many other games than just games of those two teams. -
Who will win the Super Bowl first? Buffalo or Cleveland

People also said that when asked why Gailey would do better than Jauron. -
Can someone explain the Whaley faith to me?
CodeMonkey replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because they are hard core Bills fans first, last, and always. He is apparently the next GM of the Bills therefore he is great until proven otherwise (at which point he is the sole reason for the teams bad performance and the next one is the great one). -

My theory on why no FA action by OBD
CodeMonkey replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This not only makes no sense to me at all, but it would also presuppose that Nix is some master of manipulation and throwing a smokescreen for the draft ... like anyone cares what the Bills are going to do with their #8. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the Bills are now trying, and probably have been all along, to sign free agents. They just have not been able to. . -

While I can see Nix being the scapegoat next year much like Gailey is this year (and well earned I might add), the thought that this is a premeditated plan hatched by Brandon in order to keep the payroll down is a bit of a stretch, even for TBD No big conspiracy, the Bills just have sucked for 13 years and counting. -

Now now. This is the off-season remember. The time of year when Bills fans can revel, if they so choose, in the fact that THIS is finally the year when things turn around due to new coaching, new players, or whatever has changed from the last season that was obviously the cause of all of the problems. You know, much like the last 13 off-seasons -
Some Nice Words From Coach Marrone
CodeMonkey replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what I love about this place. The new HC/OC were 25-25 at Syracuse. The DC has potential, but it is unclear (at least to me) how much of the D was due to him and how much was due to Sexy Rexy. Presumably (hopefully) whoever the starting QB is, he isn't on the roster yet. They lost or cut several starters and, so far anyway, picked up a former backup LB in free agency. They have 6 draft picks and presumably Nix will start bargain hunting the FA market soon. Yet you see 3 more wins without Fitz than you saw with Fitz. I will give you credit for saying 2014 is the year and not 2013, and for saying 8-8 and not 14-2. It is impressive to me, and says a lot about the character of Bills fans in general, that the team can be in the midst of a suck-streak of record proportions and many fans still just Billieve. I don't have the capacity for blind faith in my character I guess. I'm not sure if the Bills will stay in Buffalo or not after Mr. Wilson passes, but the true Billievers do deserve a team. -
Can someone explain the Whaley faith to me?
CodeMonkey replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know if its hate. There might be something to the saying "better the devil that you know than the devil that you don't" in some cases anyway. The OP poses a fair question to the people who want Nix out ASAP, what makes you assume Whaley will do any better? For example, most if not all of the Jauron haters wanted him out ASAP, and were happy to see Gailey come in assuming he had to be better than Jauron. Gailey had arguably better players to work with and ended up never achieving the lofty season records of Jauron. We can hope that Whaley will be better, and in fact great. But I'm not sure simply the fact that he is "well respected" translates into that he will be. Plus if Brandon et al have so much faith in Whaley, why is Nix apparently still calling the shots? -
Ryan Fitzpatrick - QB - Tennessee Titans
CodeMonkey replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The difference is that the Bills coaches, being new, are not coaching for their jobs this year. They have at least 2 seasons after this before that happens. Plus the Bills QB situation is currently far worse than the Titans, unfortunately. -
Matt Hasslebeck released by Titans

Great move by the Colts. If Luck gets banged up at all they have a solid backup. Plus I'm sure his experience will prove invaluable to Luck. Well played Indy. -

Loved his toughness, hated his throwing motion (and hence his inaccuracy). Also loved him at camp, He seemed to go out of his way every year to give one of my sons stuff at the fence I wish him nothing but success. His is a class act in my book.
