  1. Nate Silvers ELo rating system has the Bills 3rd (ahead of the Jets) in the AFC East.
  2. I was watching MNF I think and the talking heads were laughing that the Bills were in first place in the AFC East and made a voluntary QB change for performance reasons. Not so much laughing at the Bills as laughing at the AFCE.
  3. CBS with Detroit a 7.5 point favorite: 5 taking the Lions and 3 taking the Bills. CBS straight up: All 8 and the computer taking the Lions. ESPN straight up: All 14 including the computer taking the Lions. Nate Silvers ELo rating system has the Lions winning with the ELo spread at Lions -5.5.
  4. Well, at least from Manuel.
  5. To quote Bluto from Animal House ... "I suggest you start drinking heavily".
  6. 25-of-37 for 268 yards, one touchdown, two interceptions and a 75.1 rating was the better performance. Ohhhhh baby.
  7. No matter what, there will be no "Orton Era". If the Bills put Orton in with Manuel healthy it is no more than admitting Manuel is a bust and trying to save their coaching/GM futures by stealing a couple more wins that they would with Manuel. They would already be looking for their next starting QB, if they aren't already.
  8. OK everyone has to do what they said ... except for Yolo (and anyone else who pledged anything physically damaging or fatal)
  9. 100% correct. This season, for better or for worse, is about seeing if Manuel can be a capable starter in the NFL. They NEED to find that out to determine a path forward, i.e. do they need to make QB their primary focus this off season or not. Right now, and particularly after that pathetic performance by Manuel yesterday, it is easy to let your heart make the decision to start Orton. But that resolves nothing other than appeasing some homer fans bloodlust. They HAVE to find out. And after only 4 games this season they do not know yet. So untie your panties and unclench your ass cheeks everyone, grow a pair and ride it out. And make no mistake, it is going to be a bumpy and probably ugly ride.
  10. Agreed. Also I think the NFL could take a page out of the soccer book. If for example there is a 5 yard defensive penalty but the offense makes 10 yards on the play anyway, don't bother stopping the flow of the game (and the clock) to announce that the offense is declining the penalty. Just pick up the flag and keep the game moving. There are several common sense things that could be done to keep the game moving. But as to too many penalties, the answer can't be having the refs not call penalties. That would only lead to more threads like this complaining about ref bias. The rules should be changed in ways to not make NFL gameplay so anal that it has to stop every couple of minutes because an offensive lineman moved from farting.
  11. I know! And did you see the sun??? It was ALWAYS is the Bills eyes and NEVER in the Bolts players eyes! WTF???
  12. Yeah me too. Using that 62 point ELo diff is what I used to get the 59% chance of winning. I was sold on him after the last pres election and even more after reading his book. He at least attempts to quantify things instead of most "analysts" who tend to go on gut feel and/or pulling things out of their ass.
  13. Silvers ELo ranking system has the game as pick'em. 59% chance of Bills winning if my math is correct in the first post.
  14. At a hotel bar in Cali one time they had "Buffalo Wings" so I ordered some. They were made with teriyaki sauce. Interesting, but not wings
  15. He is right now, in my opinion. Smarter and tougher. Manuel has the stronger arm but isn't any more accurate. The plus for Manuel at the moment is that Fitz is what he is, with Manuel at least there is still the possibility that he will improve. Perhaps even greatly.
  16. It's worse when you go overseas. Taxi drivers from the airport almost always ask where in the US you are from and when you say New York a very high percentage of the time they will ask "The Bronx?"
  17. I don't live in Buffalo so who knows, maybe my home town being the butt of jokes my entire life would bother me in that case. An ignorant opinion is just meaningless to me now though.
  18. I could. If I knew it to be on the rise and not dying then the opinion of someone who has never been there would have no meaning to me. It might bother me if someone like Mr. Blue who has lived there his entire life thought that, but someone talking out his ass about something he knows nothing about? Why would that bother you, me, or anyone?
  19. I think if you asked a knowledgeable non homer (Bills or Texans) to look at both rosters I think they might come up with an analysis that would surprise you and be closer than you think.
  20. Very not true based on my experience anyway. Most do a few at the very least.
  21. It's in Houston which is generally worth 3 points.
  22. The rush to make a change that maybe will win a couple more games this season at the expense of seeing if the first round young QB actually has what it takes to be the teams QB for many years is absurd to me as well. Instant gratification can be a heartless B word I guess.
  23. The Bills have been very fortunate so far this season in that in 2 of the 3 games, the opponents top RB (who both happen to be good) went out in the first series. if that holds true, or Foster can't go at all, the Bills have a pretty good chance. If Foster can go and go hard, then I would tend to favor the Texans at home. Pick-em.
  24. If the Bills make it to the playoffs this season it will be due to something other than QB play, probably the defense. Games where it will require the offense in general and QB in particular to carry the team, like last Sunday, won't go well in general this season anyway. So based on your definition, I would be a no for this season.
