i don't follow football much, college football not at all. So no, I had no opinion pre-draft one way or the other. Not saying I called this prior to the draft. I am not a GM and being paid to be able to grade players to that degree. I'm saying that looking back now, to me the better move would have been to take Beckham and not give up next years first round pick. That is all. And I believe that was the point the OP was trying to make as well way back 16 pages ago. i did say on draft day however, that I thought the price paid for Watkins (next years first) was too high.

Sammy is good, I don't think anyone is disputing that. The question in my mind anyway is, is Watkins better than Beckham. And if so, is he better enough that you would prefer to keep Watkins and give up next years first? Or would you take Beckham and keep next years first. In my mind, at least at this point in time, I'd take Beckham and next years first.

Based on the last line of the linked article it seems possible that the "victim" may just be trying to get paid. Hopefully there is video. -

His clock management really sucked yesterday. Particularly at the end of the first half. Marrone worthy in fact. -
Official Pre-Game Thread: Week 12, Jets at Bills

Hey now ... the Bills have earned the right to be called mediocre. The Jets have not! Lets not overstate things! -
Ticket Details for game in Detroit
CodeMonkey replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mentioned to my wife that I was puzzled as to why people in Detroit would want to go to a game between a bad team and a mediocre team, neither of which was from Detroit. She had an interesting thought. Detroit is even more economically depressed than Buffalo, so maybe a lot of people cannot afford to go to a Lions game but are jumping at the chance to go to a free (or at least should be) game. -
I suspect the Lions fans don't blame Scwartz for it. Just the Bills players for doing it. If the Lions were playing at the Ralph under similar circumstances, would Bills fans become Lions fans for the day? Highly unlikely. They would be largely neutral, which is what I expect in Detroit tomorrow night.

I was thinking the place would be half empty. Could it actually be fairly full, or are the scalpers just looking for suckers? -

I agree. There are a lot of details that need to be ironed out to have an event like this. All in all it seems to being handled very well. -

They put this together pretty quickly, and it is festival seating, not assigned seats. I'm not surprised that there are issues. -
who is the bozo that doesn't know....

Someone called him "Ron" in an interview once and it stuck. I think the person was the "commissioner of tailgating" but I am not 100% sure. -

I do not think you are way off, I'm sure the Bills would love to host the game. I'm sure the county would as well. But there are going to be significant flooding issues associated with the melt. That is just an enormous amount of snow that should start melting quickly once the air temperature rises. And as it melts, the snow still left gets saturated with water and gets VERY heavy which will cause even more problems. Plus emergency services peeps have been busting their collective ass, and will continue to do so this week. Will the county force them to work something so unnecessary as a football game after all this? Still too early to tell how it will play out. I don't think it's a slam dunk either way at this point.
-
No, but emergency services not being available would stop it as well. I'm sure the Bills will do all that they can, but I strongly believe alternate sites as backups are already being evaluated and lined up just in case. If getting the Ralph ready to host a game was a priority for the area I imagine they could make it happen. But it is not, in fact it is not even close.

Call the governor to put pressure on the NFL
CodeMonkey replied to mead107's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The shortsightedness of this is flat out awesome. As mentioned by others, do you really think the Gov, or any government official, gives a !@#$ if the Bills/Jets game is on TV nationally or even statewide when people have died and continue to be in jeopardy due to the weather? -
I tend to disagree. These guys have been playing and practicing together all season so far, and since the beginning of camp for most. By now, most are at least dinged up physically a little bit if not more. The lack of practice time really should not be a big disadvantage, in fact it could be an advantage at this point in the season for the players to decompress at home a little bit with their families, and heal a lot more than they would if they were practicing. Plus they played the Jets just a month ago. The disadvantage is that the players that required treatment were not able to get it. It also gives them a chance to reset after losing the past 2 important games and hopefully stop their current slide.
