2 words, Roscoe Parrish. 2 more, CJ Spiller. Not to mention they'll hopefully have Easley back next year and he was a 4.46 guy. Guy ahead and press the line. It'll open Parrish or Spiller deep. Not to mention Jones has straightline speed per his draft profile and Johnson has shown ability to find spots to get open

Is the Edge synching up the games? I'd rather have Kelso/Murphy in all honesty

Agreed. Had a thread after one game where I mentioned how Tasker tends to go overboard in not trying to root for the Bills even though almost every other former player plays booster for their former team. I;m not expecting him to be there with pom-poms cheering on the Bills from the announcers box, but being a total killjoy and coming off more anti-Bill is BS

Marv being interviewed by James Lofton
tjprime replied to San-O's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Granted he pointed out he wasn't privy to the inner workings going on at One Bills Drive right now, but I'd have to agree. Marv seemed stuck on his picks and could of beens. Anyone watching football early last season or when Trent got some reps in Oakland this preseason knows he's done. Whitner isn't a bad player (maybe a bad person if you listen to some Cincy fans) but was drafted WAY too high and had too big of expectations attached to him, not to mention his own self-view being a bit inflated. Poz, when not injured was solid but he chose to leave, not really the fault of OBD. Simple stuff covered in the media that Marv didn't need inside info to figure out, just watch a game or pick up the sports page. -

So what are we going with for the WR squad nickname - the No-Names or the Goon Squad? I've always liked how Fitz plays the game, the question has always been his consistency. Hopefully with the time he's had that wrinkle has been ironed out and he becomes another QB that just a few years to mature in the NFL, something he even admitted with his eyes wide open comment and acknowledging even though he got a few starts his rookie year he wasn't ready. Rumor has it he'll play, but for how long is the question. After a couple of stiff shots from Williams, Merriman and Dareus who knows. But I think Williams had in right in his interview from Monday, regardless of Cassel playing you can expect KC to run it often. -
Interesting thought/discussion by a few guys at work today. Despite being certain that Gailey has more than a few tricks up his sleeve offensively once the season starts; one guy was arguing that he'd willing LOSE to to both the Chiefs and Raiders to keep certain wrinkles "in pocket" to use against the Patriots to try and get the monkey off the Bills back. He argued that it would do more for the teams collective psyche to beat a divisional rival that everyone consistently believes will be a playoff team, than "2 meaningless wins against meaningless teams." Didn't matter if it was a tight game with a chance to pull it out against the Chiefs or Raiders, if you had to pull a new trick out you don't. He was very clear in the fact that it wasn't that you don't play to win those 2 games, BUT that you save items strictly for the Patriots. Not just specialty plays, but you hold off on running a regular play saving it for the Pats. Guy 2 believes Buffalo cannot compete with the Pats this year, BUT thinks if they win the first 2 and make a game out of the Pats rather than "the usual annihilation" it would serve this team well in the overall turnaround and get more team members buying deeper into what "Gailey is preaching" and with another off season spent offensively that Buffalo will be a playoff team. Both acknowledged that yes you game plan for teams and put in wrinkles to take advantage of match ups, but Guy 1 was talking about not using certain plays in the playbook, even if it cost you the Chiefs/Raiders game, strictly for the element of surprise against the Pats. At the risk of sounding homerish, I'd like to go 3-0 but feel Guy#2 scenario of 2-1 after week 3 is possible. I also believe the vast majority of the current 53 man roster is already buying into what Gailey is selling. What I don't buy into is saving things especially if you're trying to win. If you're trying to win you put your cards on the table and go all out. You don't sacrifice a win to save a play that may or may not work to help you maybe beat another team. Anything less is playing not to lose and I had enough of that under Jauron. New wrinkles, sure but not at the risk of costing you a game. So my vote is no, you don't save anything. So what's your vote:

Simple theory, who's going to be the player YOU think is going to turn it on for the BILLS this year. They guy that steps it up, rips it up and leaves others teams wondering who the heck was that guy ala Stevie Johnson last year. My Pick offensively goes to Spiller. No disrespect intended to Fred Jackson, think he's a hell of a ball player and person (bumped into him twice locally and he was great) but I think the light is on for Spiller and he realizes how to play at the NFL level. Defensively I think Shawne Merriman shuts all the doubters up about how he's done. One last thing, Kamar Aiken will be on the main roster by the end of the season and contributing. Flame Away

AWESOME!!!!!!!

Funny part is that right after I read this was watching the NFL highlights of the Lions game and at at right about 52 seconds what do you think happens? Kelsay in pursuit of Shaun Hill who rolls right and hits a strike for a nice gain while Kelsay was still playing chase

So which is it? Are they not big, fast, good at receiving, good at blocking or are they decent at all of them which is what you look for in a NUMBER 3 TE with some special teams thrown in. The mistake the Bills have made is taking these guys and trying to make them #1. As 2's or 3's all of the guys you mentioned were pretty good, it's when they were pushed as 1's they didn't measure up, or were beset by injuries. The problem is that most people tend to think since the Bills don't have a Jason Witten, Antonio Gates or Dallas Clark big name type they have a sub-par TE. The fact is the Bills could of had one of those guys the past few years and we would of been complaining about lack of production from the TE because the Bills haven't properly used a TE in years.
-
Actually reminds me of Ryan Neufeld, more of a blocking TE with questionable hands but still managed to catch the ball and make the team despite being consistently counted out.
-
As long as it doesn't go back into the Bills supposed wildcat of last year, where regardless of which back was under center you knew it was a running play. Kind of negates any effectivness when the other team knows whats coming at them
-
But will they be editing them like they did with others in recent years, such as coloring black legs over in white or redoing voices from one dialect/sound to another
-
Let's take a look at the guys they have for OLB, Kelsay, Merriman, Torbor, Moats, Coleman, Maybin and maybe Batten. That's seven right there, granted they'll keep more for ST, but keeping 7 OLB? Maybin better work on covering kicks and punts if he expects to be around for the regular season. By the way the Starters will probably be Kelsay and Merriman.

Round 7 (Pick 206): DB Justin Rogers - Richmond
tjprime replied to mousetrap08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's how I view this, he's a special teamer so he has value at 7. As far as his ability as a corner goes I'll compare him to another fast, thin corner the Bills picked up as an UDFA a few years back that was more of a track guy, Jabari Greer. Same basic player coming out of college, with the edge to Rogers because of his special teams play. Granted it's on Rogers to put in the same effort Greer did, but to write this kid off because he's light is ridiculous. Get him in the gym and he can develop. -
So did anybody really notice how good/bad Urbik was in his start at RG this week? Could we see Wood get shifted to his college positionof C and Urbik staying in the rotation so your line would be Bell, Levitre, Wood, Urbik and Wrotto.
-
Vick is also in the middle of his SECOND season back. His stat line for his first season is very unimpressive.

You do realize that Spiller was injured in the first half, right?

Kyle Williams on PFF's midseason All pro team

Actually, they have Matthews listed as a back-up on the 3-4 defensive alignment, getting beat out by Harrison (Steelers) and Hali (Chiefs) -
Anyone with ESPN Insider - Schefter Q&A
tjprime replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd disagree with HAVING to take a QB. There's no way to guarantee anybody will be a franchise player, names like Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch and JP Losman come to mind. I think you'd have to go surest bet to succeed and hope they pan out and it's not a Mike Williams situation. That or try and trade down and pick up a few picks. -
Jason Peters turning into Mike Williams ?
tjprime replied to CSBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buffalo got 3 picks, as pointed out the first was Wood, the 4th was Nelson and the 6th this year was the injured Danny Batten. I'd consider it a win if Wood gets back on his feet, but if Nelson becomes a contributor and Batten becomes the small school stud that several draftniks were thinking he would be it's a spanking. -
I agree with Eric Wood's statement from camp to Maybin, he needs to give back some of that money he hasn't earned. @ chasincars - since you say you know Maybin maybe you should clip this article and send it to him about what being benched and not dressing means to an actual player and competitor. From the Buffalo New "Coach Lindy Ruff scratched Rivet for the second straight game Saturday when the Sabres faced Dallas. It was a lost weekend for the 36-year-old, who sat Friday in Atlanta, too. "It's the ultimate wake-up, it's the last straw," Rivet said in American Airlines Center. "It's something that when you're taken out of the lineup, you need to re-evaluate yourself and your game. I don't feel that I was playing up to my capabilities. Do I think I was playing terrible? No. "Right now is a very difficult time for this team. We're trying to grasp the style of play that we want to play, which I don't think we've found yet. We want to try and build some momentum as a team, and individual play comes into effect. He wasn't happy with the way I've been playing, and I'm sure you can probably look around the room and can maybe point out a few guys. But me individually, I think I need to be better, I need to be better for the team to have success. This is going to be a period where I need to sit back and re-evaluate the things I need to do a lot better on the ice."

Chan Gailey: Defense might take time
tjprime replied to The Wang From Sang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The quickest and easiest way to help this defense look better is to have BOTH OLB play off the LOS a bit more and stay to the outside edges. I've lost count of the amount of times BOTH Torbor and Kelsay start cheating up and in and then watch as the RB bounces out to the spot they were supposed to be at and runs into the secondary as Kelsay and Tobor watch on with a pained expression on their faces. Just like on special teams, have them maintain their lanes and stay in position instead of rushing up and in towards the center, even if you have to have them play a bit of zone.
