  1. I totally disagree. I believe McDermott's "we have a lot of work to do" is more referring to doing some forensics on how this entire situation was something that ultimately blindsided & embarrassed them as a scouting staff. And the reports of punt god walking into the stadium wearing no visible Bills logo, to me, only proves that point & seals his fate. And then... Araiza releases a statement while in exile in the stadium through his lawyer during the game?!?! Not a wise decision when your employer is clearly scrambling & in damage control mode based on something that at the very least you were not forthcoming about. Your new coach hasn't slept, has a daughter himself, and was clearly emotional and uncomfortable fielding questions while recognizing the gravity of the situation. Matt & counsel, how exactly do you plan to "quickly set the record straight"?!? It's already too late. As a new employee of the organization, Araiza has bobbled the snap in the largest possible way. There's probably ~60 guys with the talent to punt in the NFL at any given time. Araiza will be cut today and replaced quite easily. Sorry Matt, but them's the breaks.
  2. Ariaza not playing today is a 100% tell that he will be jettisoned in less than 24 hours max. The Bills are not going to fight this battle in the court of public opinion for him, a 6th round rookie punter. An experienced, NFL caliber punter (and holder!) will be signed from the coming roster cut down. McD and Beane will rightfully have to answer some tough questions for a few days given their weak statement on the matter thus far, and then it'll be on to Los Angeles.
  3. that's a really good track that the Bills should definitely be playing on the stadium jumbotron... geez, your friends did the entire job for them, a no brainer! 👍👍
  4. Tom is such a smug cocky sonofabitch... Go get 'em Josh!
  5. the "burn" is such a great track... front is beautifully carved through those trees & that back nine is so open & exposed to the winds - you'd better make solid contact down the stretch or you'll spew lots of oil on the way in! and when that heather is up, it's so penal even around the greens huh huh huh
  6. Per today's Skurski article in the Buffalo News, Mahomes is currently playing to a 13.2 handicap. Josh whittled it down to an 8.1 playing out of Crag Burn, which is probably a 5 or 6 at most other places.
  7. And this is how the Bills have operated nowadays anyway... they let their drafted guys develop through their (relatively cheap) rookie deals & don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Ex: Singletary, Ford, Knox...
  8. But isn't the beer delicious? It depends on your taste. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I will gladly pay $18-$22 for a 4-pack of 16ozs of liquid deliciousness in the form of an Other Half high %age IPA. So many local breweries make beer worthy of spending $14/4pk tall cans... Resurgence, CBW, Big Ditch, Flying Bison, Belt Line, many more If you prefer to crush Bud Light after Bud Light, that's ok too! 😁
  9. I can, we've had some great players at the position don those same digits... Terrance McGee Stephon Gilmore Taron Johnson Many Bills fans who don't know football very well liked to dog on him, but Stephon Gilmore was a very good draft pick & player for us before leaving for the big $$$ (which he proved quite worthy of). I think of him as the Tremaine Edmunds of those years.
  10. For a simple tweak, they should throw it back to the Fergy/Freddy era & go with blue facemasks 🔥 I will die on this hill.
  11. Getting Jerry for Kelvin Sheppard was such a rip off. It actually made me think Doug Marrone & Doug Whaley might really know what they were doing... (it was the first thing they did). After each game, I literally could not ever remember a single play Kelvin Sheppard made.
  12. (reposting this from a while back...) Bills at Browns "Ronnie Harmon drop" game, back in January of 1990, pre-internet, and the days when 'tickets going on sale Saturday' meant physically waiting in line at AM&A's very early Saturday morning. Made the mistake of answering the question "which section would you like?" with a youthfully exuberant 'how about two down there in the Dawg Pound'. Drove down the 90 with three other buddies, fresh out of high school, two of whom had seats with other fellow Bills fans travelling via bus. Checked into the Stouffer Tower City Plaza down near Cleveland Municipal Stadium the night before, saw OJ in the lobby prepping for NBC work, no big deal, no problem, the Bills are going to win this one. My buddy and I dressed head-to-toe in red white and blue for the game, our outfits topped off with our new Bills shiny-red OSHA-approved hard helmets. Whooped it up in the hotel room before making the short walk to the stadium as game time approached, and with pre-game beverages running their course, felt quite invincible. Hello Cleveland!! Let's go!!! This is the playoffs, baby! First sign of trouble occurred as we approached our entry gate near the Dawg Pound. A "Buffalo sucks!" chant was growing louder as we waited to have our tickets ripped, and we then slowly realized that all sets of eyes were focused squarely on us with our shiny new red helmets, nary another Bills supporter to be found. Have you ever had an angry mob chanting, pointing, and staring you down? It's a little unsettling. Recall thinking, 'OK, this might not have been the best idea'. Got to our seats, the last two on the aisle about halfway up from field level, in mid-Dawg Pound. Faced a barrage of insults, jeers and threats ... which we were certainly opening ourselves up to with our choice of threads (and especially helmets). We vowed from that moment on to go Richie incognito to any and all future away games (like the two quiet, un-heckled Bills fans in front of us). Amazing game, Beebe gets bounced off his head, and the Kelly-era Bills come of age and of course come up just short. Browns fans would get right up in our grills and threaten all manners of bodily harm. At one point someone came down the aisle from behind and in one motion ripped my buddy's helmet off and chucked it ten rows lower. A short time later, a Browns enthusiast came down the aisle and told my buddy that he was "... going to piss in that helmet ... and dump it on your head!!" He sure sounded like he meant business, but this thankfully never came to pass. I believe that it was broken into pieces and devoured by him and/or his fellow crazy denizens of the Dawg Pound as a sort of playoff biscuit. Felt quite demoralized and borderline less than human afterwards, and on the long walk back to hotel, someone grabbed my helmet from behind and tossed it over a construction fence. Hadn't we been through enough, Cleveland? I climbed it to retrieve my precious headgear ... they weren't getting both of those helmets, dammit! I really don't blame Browns fans, we were young and stupid and pretty much asking for it. And come playoff time, I am certain that I have (verbally) treated neighboring fans of the opposition at the Ralph in ways that I am not proud of in retrospect, perhaps as payback for this day. Went Richie incognito to Bills at Steelers playoff tilt at Three Rivers the next year, a nice Bills victory, and had a wonderful experience. Even if you are outed when you forego a high-five to a neighbor after an opposing score, you don't have to walk around the concourse sticking out like a sore thumb.
  13. Me either, Baker is a petulant child. That Colts team is really just a solid QB away from the playoffs. I could envision a bold move for a pro QB like Matt Ryan or Jimmy Garoppolo. If I had to predict, I'd say Baker is going to end up in Seattle or Carolina, franchises going nowhere. Or Atlanta as part of a deal for Ryan. Wherever he goes, it'll probably happen in the next few days!
  14. Be careful what you wish for... Morse has been everything we hoped and dreamed of when we signed him and gave him wings at the airport. Might be looking to rework/extend his deal for cap purposes, but I am doubting they'd be looking for an upgrade. We haven't even thought about the center position since Josh's rookie year when it was a mess/turnstile with Bodine/Groy.
  15. He's been getting that already. Daboll is leaving, but Josh is fully trained at this point. A good buddy of mine is the landlord to Josh's barber. Josh was in last week and told the barber... "Next year I am going to throw for 60 TDs and run in another 10." #GoBills
  16. I would argue otherwise. How did Joe Burrow get hurt again? I think QBs get injured more often while taking sacks/being brought down in or near the pocket, with tacklers and/or their linemen collapsing into them as they try to hang in there & get the throw off. 17 is elite at setting up blocks, running right off the hip of his blockers & taking what is there while absorbing a minimum of hard shots. At 6'5" and 245 lbs with sneaky speed and quicks, he has even delivered a few himself. When you take off & run, you usually get to prepare for and choose if & how you absorb any contact. Josh also has an uncanny ability to make the first tackler miss. We shouldn't shelve those skills just so some fans sleep easier. Daboll smartly increased his reliance on Josh's running skills with very succesful designed runs to get 3rd/4th & shorts in our more recent games. Josh also likes to "get air" which is a higher injury risk (and which he should probably curtail a little bit). But through Josh's first 4 years, injuries and concussions have not yet been an issue.
  17. Based on what I've seen from Hard Knocks, Frank Reich is 10x the coach that Doug Peterson is (in my opinion). Great leader of men.
  18. I think Daboll will ultimately take the NYG job. Working with Schoen on a full rebuild with plenty of rope from the Mara family, who just can't pull another quick hook without looking even more ridiculous. The Dolphins 2nd interview and reports of "he'd like to work with Tua again" reek of a leverage ploy by his agent, and I wouldn't blame him one bit. But why would he want to lock horns with Josh and the Bills just to maybe grab a wildcard bid for the foreseeable future?? When we were playing NE the first time, I though Bill payed Daboll an interesting and huge compliment. Bill always blows smoke up the butts of who he is about to play, but in this case he said (paraphrasing) "Brian Daboll is probably uniquely qualified to coach, really, any position group." Sounds like a guy who is more than ready to become a head coach in the NFL, and I predict he'll be more successful than others from the Belichick tree. He was very creative with Josh's development, giving him more and more things as 17 showed a readiness for them. And I love the way he designed runs for Josh, who makes fantastic use of his 6'5" 245 lbs... juking free guys and running right off the hip of the linemen blocking for him. Making use of an extra blocker, and proving to be virtually unstoppable on third or fourth and short.
  19. I agree 100% The 'Kyle Williams game' was the first game he absolutely took over the game making amazing plays. That was the first time I started thinking we may really have something special w/17 And he's huge, but Josh also has this incredible ability to make the first guy miss (even free rushers)
  20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSjhZlTzEos Anyone unsure of what Sanders still has in the tank should watch this excellent Cover 1 piece ... #1 will be the #2a & a huge upgrade over the oft-injured John Brown. Not sure how DCs could possibly cover Diggs, Sanders, Beasley and Gabe. An impossibilium.
  21. Judge comes across as an overly arrogant blowhard in the way that Gregg Williams came in here guns ablazing & blowing his airhorns in the halls of Bills camp. You reap what you sow, guy. And trust me, you're not that guy, Joe. Maybe try earning respect first, & maybe keep your cool a little better? Sure, if you consider melting down at the microphone over covid & missing the playoffs at 6-10 excellent.
  22. You are whining because McDermott fired Rex's coaches and didn't fully assemble his current staff in his first year?!?!? And you are of the opinion that the Bills he inherited from Whaley/Rex didn't need a scouting/front office housecleaning? lol In case you haven't payed any attention to how the NFL works, newly hired head coaches regularly assemble their own staff of assistants, and rarely keep guys from the previous regime (and if they do, it rarely lasts for more than a year).
