this is a good pickup

When Whaley described his process for the selection of Rex, I chose to take him at his word that he was all in and on top of that choice. He likened it to choosing a spouse in fact. its been said over and over…and disproven as many times If he was excellent at collecting talent he would have a job in the NFL where a large number of GMs are not very excellent at collecting talent
-
Whaley himself put that nonsense to rest years ago.
-
Because he is competent. Competence allows for honesty. As a GM, Whaley was incompetent in any and every way. His only significant moves were bringing in 3 good FAs. Terrible at picking coaches. Never got a QB. "ownership" wasn't preventing him from doing his basic duties. The pass he gets here is bizarre. The NFL is notorious for recycling FO talent, yet no team has hired him in any capacity since he was canned. Day One Starters!!!!

Forgot EJ

Well I was trying to give Whaley credit for something....
-
Give this credit for leveraging 232 snaps at Guard in 3 end of season easy wins into a possible bidding war.

Lorax, Incognito, Tyrod (those were the good or at least decent ones). vs. Beasely, Brown, Morse, Feliciano, Andre Roberts, Star, Trent Murphy, Addison, D Williams, Sanders, Taiwan Jones Von Miller.....

Matt Barkley Back? (Yep! deal not yet known)

Webb certainly knew, before the Giants offered him a futures/reserve contract, that they were going to sign someone else as backup. He will be on their PS, so, yeah, that is continuing his QB career. And first of all, Mitch Trubisky is Josh's new best friend. Second, no, I haven't seen Matt Barkley (6 seasons is not "almost a decade") dissect film, but I'm going to go way out on a limb and conclude that Keenum, a guy now 10 seasons (which is actually a decade) in the NFL with 64 starts on 6 teams in both Conferences will be able dissect film and share with Josh how he has actually prepared to play opponents as a starter, far better than terminal scrub Barkley. I mean did I really even have to type that? So he doesn't even bring value there. -
Whaley still eating lunch for free here at TBD off of Hughes, Incognito and Lorax....

Taylor's signing means Webb's career as QB won't advance in NYG. Webb knew he wouldn't be there #2 after FA started. Given that he surely knew this, I'm sure he would have entertained staying with a winning organization and maybe get a ring. Anyway, why would the Bills let a guy with all those attributes even as a PS guy go and then weeks later, be considering bringing a guy like Barkley in that same role? Why would Daboll pick Webb for his "locker room help" and not Barkley? Clearly the only reason left to have any interest in MB at this point is that he's JA's pal. And as I first said, it's not a reason you pay a guy. -

By all accounts, Webb is a great athlete, highly intelligent and was like an actual extra coach for the Bills---and they still felt they didn't have a spot in the organization for 2022. Barkley?....well he's pals with JA. 3 different teams last season found no value in his "locker room help" to be worth keeping on their PS. By your own logic, it would have made far more sense to keep Webb than to bring back Barkley. Swapping those 2 makes a lot of sense to you? -

why? because he's been on 3 different PS last year? Bring him in as a PS veteran? Why? I clearly don't agree with him. I said so. draft a QB for the PS or get an UDFA. -
Ahh...the wistful Doug Whaley nostalgia.. He was a bum. Ran from responsibility. McBeane gutted his life's work on the Bills, rebuilt them and presto....SB contenders...

Bills trade 7th rnd pick for backup Case Keenum

On a list of 100 reasons, this is probably in the mid 70's lol -

well, you don't make roster decisions to bring some buddies back. Josh is well past the point where he needs some bros to hang out with to buck up his confidence. This isn't Entourage. Keenum can impart more veteran knowledge to JA in a week than Barkley ever could. -

Evidence to this point is that it's still Les Snead. -

Solid get. I remember this guy tearing up the NCAA at Houston. -

Compared to who? Barkley?? Come on.. Also, who has a higher career INT%: Fitz or Jim Kelly? Keenum is solid choice. Really don't see why they would also bring in Barkley. He adds nothing. -

lol, he completed 15 passes. It would be his last start in the NFL and it was 4 years ago. He's no good. really nopoint in bringing him in. -
I guess. He's done it once there....

Before the signings, Bills were the only team under +750 (+700) to win the SB, so hardly a "ridiculous" bet. People here have argued that adding Wilson to the AFC and Watson going to Cleveland can make it more difficult for the Bills to get to the SB. (Money line is the same).

Kamara, Jones, Ekeler are used in this way to good effect on better teams. Bills would definitely get him the touches. In fact, because of the numbers he just put up, this is exactly why a team would bring him in, obviously---to be used in the same way.
