Buddy Nix to retire after 2012 draft?
papazoid replied to Jdragon2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i call BULLCHIT !!!.....unless Nix has a health issue we are unaware of, his retiring after this draft makes no sense. Whaley is like a backup QB.....he may or may not be good. other than Troup and Kelsay...i like what Nix is doing. -

Screw The Defense In Round One
papazoid replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
a team foundation is built on LINEMAN....the "front 7" on both sides of the ball. on offense thats lineman and tight ends and on defense lineman and linebackers. the BIlls who have drafted primarily finesse positions (WR, RB & DB's) with their top picks are a perfect example on how not to build a winner. #1- Bills biggest problem - no defensive pressure or sacks on opposing QB's . bills had the third lowest sack total in NFL. improve that and you improve your secondary. #2- Bills second biggest problem - Fitz has 3 seconds to read and throw. our offensive tackles are the worst in football. strengthen the O-line and you improve both the passing and running game. -

If Peyton Manning goes to the Jets...
papazoid replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peyton Manning is DONE....he will never play again. his ideal scenario will be to play indy into the $28 mil bonus under the false pretense he will play again. peyton will obviously fully participate in all rehab etc... but just like this year, will announce at the last possible moment that he is unable to play and RETIRE. Irsay should CUT manning (save the $28 mil) and then proclaim they want him back if healthy. -
i'm goin....7 - 9 those early wins against Oak, NE & Philly were a bit lucky....but i do think we are going to improve.

Mike Pereira: Gruden is a “blowhard”
papazoid replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
here's a good article explaining the details of this dust up between Pereira & Gruden: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Pereira-8217-s-rip-job-on-Gruden-just-one-more-?urn=nfl-wp14854 -
strong words...... “[Gruden] was a loudmouth as a coach who constantly disrespected officials and he is a blowhard in the broadcast booth who spouts off when he doesn’t know what he is talking about,” Pereira wrote in a column for FOXSports.com. “To me, the second you agree to step into the broadcast booth, you agree to learn the rules. It goes with the job. You, as an announcer, have an obligation to know the rules. You are free to pontificate as to whether or not you like a rule, but you must present the rule first,” Pereira writes. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/12/29/pereira-gruden-is-a-blowhard-who-doesnt-know-what-hes-talking-about/

Who are the core players on this team?
papazoid replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
#1- Fred Jackson #2- Kyle Williams #3- Eric Wood #4- Marcell Darius #5- Andy Levitre those are the only "studs" on this team. -
YES !!!....YES !!!.....YES !!! those lost draft choices are just unused salary cap slots, which have not been lost and can be used on a proven free agent(s). Andrew Luck is a Top Ten Franchise NFL QB. heck, i'd do the same deal (swap #1's, plus another #1, two #2's and two #3's) for RG III.

"shakeup" implies someone under Nix, like asst GM Whaley or Director of College Scouting etc......if it was Nix, then "overhaul" might be used. Perhaps we should stop calling it a "lack of depth"
papazoid replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
these questions are specific to the current bills: question #1- is it better to hang on to slightly overpaid veterans who you know are not in your future or cut them, create salary cap space and give playing time to unproven younger players who you hope are in your future ? question #2- is it better to use up all your available salary cap space as fast as possible in the current year on the best available players or spend it more wisely waiting for just the right free agent or an extension for a worthy current player even if it means waiting til next year to spend it? -
like if kyle williams goes down, you can throw in troup ? this could be argued many ways, but if you could pick any player in the league to start a franchise with, your first pick would/should be a franchise QB and go from there. therefore, in this scenario, you take GB's offense over SF defense.

The worst game in Bills history
papazoid replied to tennesseeboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True story... over near Gate #6, there was this large group of fans who tailgated just inside the parking lot, right along those big yellow obstacle poles. their home base was this small red van truck, that was positioned to see the stadium scoreboard. they fashioned themselves table tops that sat on top of those big yellow poles and they had about 25 empty crown royal bottles lined up on the ground. there was this guy, who would get on top of that van truck. he was shirtless and had pants on that were made out of the crown royal purple bags. at every miami game, he would have up there a 50 lb fish that they would abuse the hell out of. huge crowd encouraging him on. they would pour gasoline down the fish's mouth and set it on fire.....crowd going nuts chanting squish the fish. ahhhh, good times. -
hard to know if it's a good signing without contract details..... he's a solid RT if the price is right.... Bills signed RT Erik Pears to a contract extension. The terms of the deal are unknown. Pears, who was set to hit unrestricted free agency after this season, has started all 13 games for the Bills this season. Previously known as a journeyman, he's established himself as an asset by bulking up and showing consistency. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3837/erik-pears

Boycotting the final three games
papazoid replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Cutting off the nose to spite the face" is an expression used to describe a needlessly self-destructive over-reaction to a problem. Failing to support the Bills by not attending games, is a self destructive over reaction to the problem of not winning. This franchise will win again. i share everyones frustration in losing, it sucks, but losing the team thru relocation to another city will be a thousand times worse. #1- including Toronto, the Bills are the 4th Largest NFL Market. this is a very desirable franchise. #2- the ONLY thing that would cause the Future owner of the Bills to consider leaving Buffalo is poor attendance. #3- possesion is 9/10th's of law, it's our franchise to lose. -
i like Nix....but Parcells has no equal in evaluating talent and building a winner.
