i'm going the other way......their recent history suggests: they will trade down and/or completely trade out....(trade one of this years high 2013's pick for a potential higher pick in 2014). I also see them taking a QB to groom with the 34th pick acquired from KC. The San Francisco 49ers lead the way with 14 picks. They have eleven regular picks plus compensatory picks. Of their eleven picks, six are originally theirs, having traded their sixth round pick in the Anquan Boldin trade. They acquired the Kansas City Chiefs second round pick in the Alex Smith trade. They acquired the Carolina Panthers third round pick in a trade involving a 49ers 2012 fourth round pick. They acquired the Colts fifth round pick as part of a deal to move down from the third round (No. 92) to the fourth round (No. 97) last year. They then acquired the Dolphins sixth round pick as part of a deal to move down in the fourth round (No. 97 to No. 103). That pick was then traded with the Panthers in the above third round pick trade. Complicated enough for you? The 49ers also added the Bengals seventh round pick in the Taylor Mays trade. (1) 31. San Francisco 49ers (2) 34. San Francisco 49ers (from Kansas City Chiefs) (2) 61. San Francisco 49ers (3) 74. San Francisco 49ers (from Carolina Panthers) (3) 93. San Francisco 49ers (4) 128. Its still unclear how the tentative deal to restructure Elvis Dumervils contract imploded. The NFL Players Association plans to seek some clarity. According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, the union has asked for an inquiry regarding the events culminating in Dumervil being released. For starters, Dumervil may not want an inquiry, because an inquiry could uncover that his agent, Marty Magid, got cold feet after reportedly agreeing to cut the players salary from $12 million to $8 million in 2013, opting instead to sign elsewhere and get more. (Then again, no free-agent pass rusher has gotten more than $7.5 million per year in the current hiring cycle.) http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/16/report-nflpa-wants-inquiry-into-dumervil-debacle/ -

Broncos team president John Elway issued a statement Friday night, explaining the situation from the team's point of view. "Due to the procedural elements that were involved in executing the new proposal, we imposed a 1 p.m. MDT deadline for a decision, one hour before the NFL's waiver wire at 2 p.m. MDT. Our deadline was clearly communicated to Elvis' representative," Elway said in the statement. "At 1 p.m. MDT, we were informed by Elvis' representative that he declined our offer. We then prepared Elvis' termination notice to officially file his release with the NFL office. "At approximately 1:25 p.m. MDT, however, we were informed that Elvis changed his mind and accepted the same contract we proposed nearly two-and-a-half hours earlier. Although we expressed our concern regarding the time constraints, we were assured that the signed documents would be submitted to us before the league's waiver deadline. "We did not receive the documents from Elvis by the league's deadline and were forced to release him shortly before 2 p.m. MDT. "Due to this situation, there are now salary-cap implications associated with this transaction that we must consider with regard to potentially re-signing Elvis. At this moment, we are discussing all of our free-agency options to determine what's best for the Denver Broncos." Gibson interested in bills but bills never called
papazoid replied to NishP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dolphins agreed to terms with WR Brandon Gibson, formerly of the Rams, to a three-year contract. The Jets' top free-agent target is taking his talents to South Beach. Gibson, 25, is the latest mediocre talent to join GM Jeff Ireland's burgeoning "Dream Team," and should be slotted into his ideal role of No. 3 receiver behind Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline. Gibson can move the chains and is a threat in the red zone, but offers nothing after the catch and is prone to mental mistakes. His 108 yards after the catch were an absurd 167th in the NFL last season. With just one 100-yard game in 54 career contests, Gibson won't be a major threat for fantasy value as the fourth or fifth option in Miami's pass game. Davone Bess may be done in Miami. Did Dumervil and/or his agent intentionally miss the deadline in the hope that the Broncos would fail to cut him, thereby guaranteeing him the $12 million? Is it possible that, during those fateful 35 minutes, Dumervil's agent heard from another team that would pay his client big money and made the delay-of-game call on the fly? Did the Broncos, having gauged the market, decide after the fact that $8 million was too pricey for Dumervil and claim that the paperwork hadn't arrived as an excuse to part ways without reneging? http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--what-the-fax--elvis-dumervil-contract-snafu-could-shift-balance-of-power-in-afc---002225119.html But (agent) Magid told USA Today Sports a different story saying the paperwork wasn't transmitted in time because the Broncos made late changes to the financial details. Magid claims the team changed the terms of the contract the sides had been negotiating all week and didn't send him a correct copy of the final deal until after 3:30 p.m. EDT. The key point in the new contract offer allowed the Broncos to cut Dumervil after this season without paying him, Magid said, adding Denver said they made the change because Dumervil had taken all week to accept their offer. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/broncos-release-dumervil-both-sides-003122408--nfl.html -

the agent is the bad cop, the player the good cop. 7/22/2010: Signed a six-year, $61.5 million contract. The deal contains $43.156 million guaranteed, including a $3 million signing bonus and Dumervil's first, second, and third years' base salaries. 2013: $8 million, 2014: $10 million, 2015: $8,193,335, 2016: Free Agent then there's this....As ESPN's Andrew Brandt would say, "there will be lawyers." Dumervil's rep is alleging the Broncos changed the terms of the pay cut at the last minute, delaying the process. Dumervil's camp sent its ill-fated fax at 3:55ET, right as the Broncos were cutting him out of a supposed abundance of caution. The sides have yet to talk since the fiasco. We'd expect many twists and turns over the next 48 hours. Dumervil is looking unlikely to return to Denver. -

we only have a handful of good players worth keeping as it is (spiller, freddy, wood, stevie, cordy glen, Byrd, Mario, kyle, dareus, Gilmore). I guess everyone is technically available.....I just doubt anyone would offer enough for me to say yes. -

increases the chances of them using the #7 pick on a QB -
lots of different ways to build a team......I just reject the thinking that the "guard" position is any less important than any other position on offense with the exception of QB. I also reject the idea of letting go of the NFL's top pass-blocking guard last season (per pro football focus) so that money can be used on 2 Manny Lawson type players. I subscribe to the 1 bird in the hand is worth 3 in the bush rule. I know ive got an absolute stud in levitre......I have no idea what's coming in Lawson and others. I would have put my money in the sure thing (levitre) even if I overpaid a little. also when it comes to allocating resources building a team, I put my money on #1- franchise QB, #2- Front 7's both sides(O&D lineman, te & lb) and then last #3- skill positions (rb, wr, db). the bills have used their first pick in the draft on a skill position in 8 of the last 10 drafts.....THIS IS WHY WE SUCK.
-
per Rotoworld.....Free agency's top guard is off the market. Levitre graded out as the NFL's top pass-blocking guard last season, per Pro Football Focus, and was also part of a Bills rushing unit that ranked third in yards-per-carry (5.0). He's just 26 years old and fills a massive problem area for the Titans. Chris Johnson will have a harder time throwing his offensive line under the bus next season and Jake Locker will certainly have more time in the pocket. Titans agreed to terms with OG Andy Levitre on a six-year, $46.8 million contract with a $10.5 million signing bonus.

Raven losses....Ray Lewis, Anquan Boldin, Paul Kruger, Dannell Elerbe and Bernard Pollard. could Cary Williams (cb) and Ed Reed be next ?
-
ralph, buddy & russ
-
when Chris Johnson's numbers are up and spiller & Freddy's are down.......paying an extra million more than you wanted to for a stud guard won't seem so crazy.

russ and jay are cheap ?
