  1. So I was just throwing out a trade scenario, but in all likelihood it would take 4 early round picks to move up to get RG III. Its a steep price to pay, especially for a rebuilding franchise. But havent we been rebuilding for over a decade? Isn't it time to take a chance on getting a franchise quarterback?? This team isn't going anywhere fast without a top notch signal caller.
  2. My link Interesting article here about a "mystery" team that is looking into trading up to #2 for RG III. Main points: - If the bills cut Fitzpatrick before March 19, they will save $49 million of his $59 million deal. - The bills have been stuck in mediocrity (or worse) for years and need a shot in the arm more than almost any other team. - RG III would rejuvenate a franchise in desperate need of savior. Lets say for the sake of argument that it would cost this years 1st round pick and next years 1st and 3rd round picks. I know this is extreme... but would you do it?
  3. It all depends on the asking price. I dont think we should pay him $10 mil a year. The team has to be somewhat responsible for the contracts they're handing out. They cant throw the house at an above average WR.

  5. With Chad likely being released by the patriots in the next couple of months, would you like to see the Bills take a 1 year shot at him? Stevie + Chad would be one the most entertaining combos in the league, assuming Chad isn't completely washed up. I say we take the chance!
  6. I think the switch instantly upgrades our defense. We eliminate our biggest weakness (pass rushing outside linebackers) and are now 1 or 2 players away from having a very talented and dynamic front 7. Assuming Kelsay can man up one of the end spots, and we draft a DE and LB in the first two rounds, we'll be 1 year away from having an average - above average player at every position.
  7. Lets wait and see what Mercilus and Perry look like at the combine.. If Mercilus works out like the beast he seems to be, I'd love to have him on the bills at any spot in the draft 9 forced fumbles last year!
  8. We need Coples!
  9. Obviously we dont know everything about these prospects and I'm sure we'll learn alot more with the combine coming up and all that talk that takes place after the superbowl. Coples does seem to have the physical tools to be an absolute monster though. You have to hope that he can be coached in the right way to reach his full potential.
  10. Just off the top of my head.. Busts: Aaron curry, Aaron Maybin, Vernon Gholston Hits: Pierre-Paul, Mario Williams, Julius Peppers, Chris Long, Von Miller, Aldon Smith, JJ Watt, Brian Orakpo. I believe Tamba Hali was a 1st rounder too. I'm sure there's many more busts, but I'm not sure about ones picked in the top 10
  11. Alright so I wanted to find out the prototype for the best pass rushers in the league at OLB and DE. At 3-4 OLB the best players seem on average 6-3, 260 and run somewhere around a 4.6 40. Whitney Mercilus (Illinois) seems to fit that mold almost exactly. He led the nation in sacks last year with 16 sacks and is projected as an early 2nd round draft pick. Courtney Upshaw doesn't really seem to fit the mold, although neither does James Harrison. 3-4 Defense Ht Wt 40 Ware: 6-4, 260, 4.56 Harrison: 6-0, 242, 4.85 Matthews: 6-3, 255, 4.62 Suggs: 6-3, 260, 4.65 Hali: 6-3, 275, 4.75 Draft fits? Mercilus: 6-4, 265, 4.65 (projected) Upshaw: 6-2, 265, 4.76 For a 4-3 DE, the best players seem to be on average around 6-6, 275 and run a 4.7 40. Its scary how closely Quinton Coples fits that mold, which makes me think that he's the real deal. Right now he's projected as a top 10 pick. Melvin Ingram (South Carolina) also fits the mold. He's projected as a mid to late first round pick, but his stock may be on the rise. 4-3 Defense Ht Wt 40 Peppers: 6-7, 287, 4.74 Allen: 6-6, 270, 4.72 Williams: 6-6, 283, 4.70 P-Paul: 6-5, 278, 4.71 Freeney: 6-1, 268, 4.53 Draft fits? Coples: 6-6, 272, 4.75 Ingram: 6-2, 276, 4.72 The bills are in dire need of a pass rusher and I would love to see Coples fall to them at 10. If he doesnt though, the bills do have some other pretty good options. I would rather see them take Mercilus (in the second round) over Upshaw (in the first) if they plan to stay in a 3-4. Ingram might be a stretch at 10, but if they can trade down a few spots I would love to see him on the team. I dont think any of these 4 guys are bad options and I think its likely we'll see one of them on the Bills in 2012.
  12. I agree with your points, but I dont think Upshaw is quite the player that people make him out to be. He's a good overall player but he doesnt have any one skill that blows you away. He's not particularly fast or mobile and we need someone who can get to the quaterback. Not to mention that he played alongside the best college defense in the nation that probably has 7 other NFL starters on the roster.. you could argue he'd be playing alongside worse talent on the bills.
  13. Dilfer had one of the best defenses of all time behind him! Meanwhile the bills have the worst defense in their history!
  14. If he becomes a free agent (this article suggests that the texans wont franchise him) My link The Bills NEED to do everything they can to get this guy. Put him at DE next to DT's Dareus and Willams and another DE taken in round 1 or 2 of this years draft, and we'll have one of the best (if not the best) D line in football. How often do you get a chance to grab a 26 year old who is a proven stud?
  15. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-films-presents/09000d5d8261f6b0/Shots-of-the-season?module=HP11_cp A couple nice bills shots in here.. Freddy at 1:43 The Ralph at 1:54 Lindell at 2:03 (my favorite) Stevie at 5:58
  16. Baltimore: 6-0 vs playoff teams during the regular season (Pit, Pit, Cin, Cin, Hou, SF) New England: 1-2 vs playoff teams during the regular season (W - Den, L - Pit, NYG)
  17. Also Reggie Wayne, Kenny Britt, Anquan Boldin, AJ Green, Vincent Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, Dez Bryant, Brandon Lloyd, Marques Colston, Steve Smith... Its crowded once you get past the top 5 or 6.
  18. I think most people are ignoring how good travis henry was (on the field). 2002: 1438 yds 13 td 2003: 1356 yds 10 td Dont get me wrong, McGahee came in a ran it like a bat out of hell, but it took that to run Travis out of town. Spiller has only had a few good games, but if he continues to run like he is, it will make Fred expendable.
  19. I'm thinking back to when the Bills drafted McGahee in the first round in 2004. Travis Henry was a stud for the the three previous years, but when he went down and McGahee came in and had success, he was basically run out of town. Now we have a very similar situation on our hands with Jackson and Spiller. Obviously the front office is completely different but its hard to ignore the parallels. I think its very unlikely that Fred gets any significant money from this organization and that he'll most likely split time with Spiller from here on out and walk at the end of next year..
  20. I've watched a handful of eagles games this year and its relatively easy to see that Jackson hates losing. I can sympathize for what he's going through this year as the eagles went out and signed 5 guys to more money than he is making. How would that make you feel as a player? Pretty unappreciated if you ask me.. DeSean Jackson is one of the top 5 big play threats in the league and would instantly open up the field for Fitz. The whole season everyone's knock on the bills offense has been the inability to throw the ball deep and I think Jackson would change that quickly. I think his talents and competitive drive greatly outweigh the antics you have to put up with on the field and even off the field. Johnson and Jackson would be a circus.. but they would terrify opponents.
  21. Nothing beats the bills.. but having sports around just the nfl is very nice, I'd rank the others like this: After nfl.. NHL College BB College FB NBA Tennis MLB College Hockey Golf ^ World cup soccer is great too
  22. I'm a bills and red sox fan... before 2004 I'm sure I felt the same way you do now. Hopefully now that you got our golden boy things will turn around for the cubs! Hell even the bills are looking up!
  23. Jeese.. one bad loss and people are at each others throats.. lets hope our boys pull it together and win in Dallas. I like it when there's more optimism on this board.
  24. Why cant we use Spiller in a similar way to how the Saints use Sproles or how the Pats use Woodhead? A handful of teams have speedy running backs that they use effectively in the passing games..
  25. This game is going to be awesome
