Back in 1961, when I was in Children's Hospital, there was a 3 year old kid that had drank some Drano and burned his esophagus. The kids father never showed up and the mother was a drunk. Probably happened due to neglect ( got this info from my parents telling me this years later). The kid ended up getting the measles while he was in the hospital. The first had him in his crib, but he kept getting out. Then they had to put a net over the crib but he kept ripping it out, so they finally had to lock him in a room so he wouldn't get out and infect other kids. Before the measles he would roam the halls and mooch milk shakes off of the other parents (doctors encouraged this to help remove the scar tissue in his esophagus) . He was so powerful that my dad said he could almost knock him off his feet when he ran up tp hug these other parents.

More update. The southern part of Chestnut Ridge got hit hard. There are crews from all over cueanng up downed trees in the park, Almost of the roads in the area are clear, There were at least 50 men cleaning up downed and damaged trees in the park this weekend. My brother worked 12 hour days the last 4 days. They will be working their normal areas this week, but can have OT from :3:30 until 9 PM every day this week. They will have to work nextSaturday and Sunday too. He said it will be at least a mont or two for them to get all the debris cleared. Luckily no one was in the park when it hit and only one shelter was damaged.

Update on the cleanup. The debris at the fairgrounds has been cleaned up. The gaming building is not damaged, but there was a lot of damage to the roof of the east grandstands at the track. Lots of trees down in the south part of Chestnut Ridge, The east side (with the casino building) was open on Friday, but the west side (where the Eternal Flame is) is still closed. Lots of trees down in Holland. There are lots of crews working on it. My brother works for the Erie County Highway Dept. and he worked 12 hours Thursday and Friday and will be working Saturday and Sunday. All the towns in the county are loaning chippers etc. to aid in the cleanup. The Feds said there has to be > 28 Mil in damage for FEMA $, but Cuomo has pledged state $. At least no major injuries, just a few cuts and scrapes.
