The peak of the baby boom is and will be retiring this yerar (turning 65). Even without COVID, there would be more positions to fill.

We used to go to my mother's parents for Christmas Eve. With 8 aunts and uncles, their spouses, and cousins, at least 30 people (us cousins spanned about 20 years in age). One year Santa came and handed out presents. All my relatives were there, so it wasn't one of them. I asked my parents and they didn't know either. Might have been one of my Grandfather's neighbors or friends.

One of the FB groups I'm in is where people post old photos of Buffalo. People are always crying "why didn't they save them?" Reasons are a lot of them were already old in the photos or the building burned down or weren't made to last long. Millard Filmore's house was where city hall is now. It burned to the ground after he died. I think the same thing happened to the Fargo Estate which occupied a whole block on the west side. The Pan Am buildings were made of a horsehair paper machie stuff and were already falling apart when the fair ended. They had pictures of multi-story hotels that burned up. Until the Ellicott Square Building was built, building could only go up maybe 7-8 stories because they didn't use steel beams. Lot of wood in them and wood burning stoves. The captions say "built in XXXX and burned down 20-30 years later.

I believe they used to have spittoons on the House and Senate floors.Thete are still two ceremonial ones on the senate floor. Millard Fillmore had two snuff boxes installed on the Senate floor. At our house, the signal was strong to the house but very weak inside. The Spectrum guy replaced alll the cable in the basement and added some boosters. Our neighbor had worked for International Cable (what Spectrum was 30 years ago) and just retired a few years ago before selling his house. His house was at the edge of two circuits and had two cable connections coming in. When they wanted to know if an outage in the area was the system or just the circuit, he could switch between the two and tell the office.
