The USS the Sullivans is Sinking (and I don’t want to swim)
Wacka replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in Off the Wall
USS The Sullivans # is 537. My dad was on the USS Miller (#535), a sister ship. -
What in Detroit isn't run down?😀

Probably realized in a nanosecond of sanity that any private citizen that spotted him would blow him away and took his chances with the cops.

For those who don't live in the area, the Sullivans has been leaking for several years. The crew to repair the leaks was supposed to start working on Monday. I think they were the ones that spotted the listing last night. The radio said there are 4 large industrial pumps being used today and are pumping more water out than incoming in. The ships there in 4-5 feet of water under their keels. -
Was on Sanibel Island, FL on vaca back in 2011. There was a pontoon boat that someone would sail up onto the beach to sell pop, ice cream and snacks. Was there with a friend that still lived in Buffalo (I lived in CA at the time). He told that guy withe the boat was originally from WNY. When he came on the beach by us, I talked to him and found that he was from Orchard Park.

Of course a Bills, Bandits, and Sabres fan. Lived in the SF bay area for 17 years and attended Arena Football games in San Jose. Got to see two San Jose Sabrecats championship games. Had season tickets (were only $14/ticket/game) -
He had a weekly podcast (Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast) where he had on a lot (>400 episodes) of old TV and movie actors, writers and other form old TV and movies. Some of the people he had on were Adam West, Barbara Feldon, Larry Storch, Dick Van *****, Carl Reiner, and Sid and Marty Kroft. He was also a big fan of old monster movies. Could do great imitations of Old Groucho ("Because Chico needed the money"), Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, James Mason, and Jame McGuiver (look him up-you'll know who he was).

Bill Maher: Hero to the left or enemy of the people?

Tibs is as stupid as the libs in CA that I knew. I have had friends in CAthat have asked me what happens to Niagara Falls in a dry summer. They think Tahoe is a great lake. I try to explain 20-25% of the fresh water on earth, running continuously for ~7000-10,000 years and its all lost on them. -

Art Donovan told a story on Letterman from him playing i the late 50s. They sack Bobby Laine of the Lions and Donovan said " Wow you reek. You must have had a hell of a light last night. We'll get drunk sacking you. " Laine tells him" What last night. I had a couple of shots at halftime." -
Lane splitting= two motorcycles riding side by side in one lane. I think it is only legal in CA and in movies like Easy Rider. Also I think they can weave thru traffic on the highway while it is slow or at a standstill.

????? the title of this thread is "Why do gays love the dems so much?" Unless Putin is gay, what does he have to do with this thread? -

Nothing has changed. The left= party of projection. Everything they claim the right has done is actually what they have done at least twice as bad. -
San Francisco though it was a good idea until one of the Spandex mafia actually killed a pedestrian in a collision.Chef Jim should remember that. I think it was about a decade ago.

They won't take you if you have an IQ lower than a certain # . That obviously was one deferment Joe got.

Two memorable border crossings: 1- Mid 80s. I drove to the Sundowner in a Geo Metro. 5 of us in that 3 cylinder car (don't know how we all fit in that). Canadian Customs said have fun and spend $. Coming back, i had 3-4 beers so I might have been on the edge of impaired. Had to talk to the cop just before exiting the plaza and onto the Thruway so he could check for drunks. Recite the ABCs. Had to stop for a second or two at P to get a new breath and finished the alphabet. The cop asked why I stopped and I explain I had to get more breath. Friend in back seat says " He stutters."Cop waves us to leave. Pull up about a foot in traffic and the window is still open. Same friend in back seat says" I saved our asses. " Everybody else in car is muttering to him " STFU". Luckily he was probably focused on the next car. I was swearing like a sailor and threatened to kick him out of the car at the Niagara Street exit of the 190 at about 1:30 AM and make him walk home to Depew. 2- First day in the lab where I did my thesis research and he advisor says to come with them to Toronto for a regional meeting on yeast (we were studying DNA replication in bakers yeast). The car had 3 of who were born American citizens, a Pakistani- Australian who had now become an American, a Chilean who had a green card, and an Indian that had a visa. No problem goin to Canada. Coming back, we thought it would take an hour or so at US Customs. We explain all of our statuses. The inspector asks why we were in Canada. The advisor says "For a scientific conference on yeast" and who sponsored it. we told him that Labatts and Molson did supply plenty of beer. He has this concearned look and asks "Bring any beer back?" we replied "No". He says " Next time bring 6 cases back. You're allowed a case a person!"
