1) Don't trade productive players for draft picks, except as a very last resort. Try to get them back on your team. If they must be traded, get player(s) for them who can contribute. Draft picks just mean more rebuilding. 2) Schobel is not to slow to play OLB in a 3-4. 3) He will probably retire rather than start over at a new position, for a new coaching staff, for a team that is rebuilding (again) but I hope that he doesn't. 4) If he comes back, he will be successful (barring injury) because he is a talented player. In fact, I would worry much less about him making the move to OLB than Maybin. I know that Schobel can rush the QB and make plays because I've seen it. Maybin on the other hand...

Who cares. There are a lot of guys at bodybuilding competitions with better physiques that can't play football.

New Defensive Coordinator - George Edwards

Washington and Williams were both playing DT. "The package" was a 4-3 defense. -

That's the way the Bills roll. Honestly, Dick Jauron was more qualified as a DC that this new guy. Hopefully, I'll be wrong... -
Resign T.O. He was our best WR this season. Re-sign the productive players, replace the non-productive ones. If T.O. walks, then it's an aging retread or a waste of a draft pick for something that may or may/not pan out in a couple of years, or both. Let's re-sign T.O. and look to shore up areas that we are weak in already instead of creating new ones.

Schobel might start in a 4-3 alignment, but I can't see it in the 3-4. I really think that you are underestimating Odomes. He was a pro-bowl player and a lockdown corner for the Bills his last few years with the team. He didn't do well against Irvin the in Super Bowl XXVII, but did do well in XXVIII (even getting an int if I remember). McGee has more athletic ability that Odomes, but has not accomplished nearly as much.
-
I agree in general. The only things I would change are: • McGee starts over Kirby Jackson, not Odomes. • Poz gets the nod over Bailey. • I don't think that Schobel starts. He is a better pass rusher than Seals or Hansen but not as strong against the run and that's not the kind of help those teams needed. He would probably be a situational player.

Who is the GREATEST Bill of All-Time ??
vincec replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Um, yeah. It sounds like you are looking for a reply and I don't want to disrespect you here, but I'm not really sure what you are talking about... P.S- It's Ted Knight. -

It's tough to decide. Gilchrist was the best all around player, absolutely no question, plus he won a championship. However, he was only with the Bills 3 seasons, so I'm not so sure. OJ was the best pure runner, Kelly the best QB and Smith was the best overall defensive player but none of them produced a title. Thomas might also merit consideration, but again, no championship. I'm going to go ahead and say Jim Kelly. He never played for another NFL team and was the face of the franchise from the day he arrived, for 11 season. He led the team to it's most prolonged period of success and although never won the big one, he did help the team get there 4 times and played pretty well in two of the four games (and left a third due to injury with his team in the lead). -

Why do QB's go under center and not 100% shotgun
vincec replied to taterhill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All that has been said about the running threat and step timing and the QB being able to read the defense is valid. Still, you are seeing a lot more shotgun every year. Most of that is because passing is getting easier all the time due to rules adjustments (can't impede the receivers, the QBs are protected, the OL can hold and not get called, etc.). But it's also due to the fact that teams are getting better and better at running out of the shotgun. If your QB can run, then you can have a very good running threat. It's like the old single wing which was a very strong running formation. This still may not be workable in the NFL, where there is such a large disparity between the size of QBs and that of DLs and LBs, but it can certainly work in high school and college. -
Warner set to retire tomorrow; is he a Hall of Famer?

HOF, no question. I'm not sure about first ballot, but who really cares. -
I hear that Tom Olivadotti is available.

The Bills Oline- will it be better in 2010
vincec replied to ....lybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills o-line will be better if they can simply stay healthy. -
Minnesota had the best team in the NFL, IMO. They just gave it away yesterday with turnovers. Two fumbles inside the NO 10 yd line and then the Favre int at the end of regulation. Even with all of that they were able to send the game into OT. I think that Favre should come back. I didn't see anything this season that would lead me to think that he couldn't play at a high level another year.

Not New Orleans.

[please fix subject]Peter King - overtime rant
vincec replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, but check this out: "29% of the time the team that wins the toss drives down and scores without the other team touching the ball. Overall, however, the coin toss winner only wins 52% of the time. It seems fair but these numbers are somewhat misleading because in 1994 a rule changed moved the kickoff back 5 yards to the 30 yard line (those numbers were based on data from 1973-2003). Since then, it's been about 60%. Prior to the rule change, the coin toss had no predictive value for deciding who would eventually win the game. Since 1994, the coin flip winner has a clear advantage. " -
Will be a shootout. Take the over.
-
... and that ridiculous int by Favre ... and that horrible play calling at the end of regulation ... and the 4 turnovers
-
The actual winning percentages between the two teams in overtime are 50-50. Winning the toss doesn't give you a statistically better chance to win the game. EDIT: It's actually 52% for the winner of the toss. I just looked it up.
-
Agree 100%.

He should've made a play at the end of regulation.

Well, time to hit the sack.
