  1. So help me god if the Bills draft another RB so early... as freddie jackson and so many others have proven, you can get RB's in the late rounds / FA Go get a QB, OL or DL and leave the running game to freddie + a FA (like Leon Washington)
  2. If we are going to draft an OT in the 1st round and pay him big money, I'd rather give it to a known quantity. Guy is still only 24 and walterfootball seems to think very highly of him http://walterfootball.com/freeagents2010OT.php Seems like a better idea, than drafting a LT, seeing how we've sucked at that for years
  3. ughhhhm the last thing I want is a new stadium. I like it being in Orchard Park, w/ plenty of room to tailgate and not deal w/ the congestion of a downtown location. I enjoy only having to pay $80 a seat/game for my season tix instead of the $100+ and probable PSL if they got a new stadium. I'm there to enjoy a sunday and watch some football. Not try out the latest manufactured culinary delight or hobnob and smooze. Now if they told me they'd raise my tix by $10/game and we'd have a real QB, that's a different story
  4. Nevergiveup = a manager in the business area of things, someone along the lines of a Marc Honan... probably not that high, but definitely someone who hears things
  5. Lombardi is terrible now... when the site first started and they needed visitors, they really put forth an effort to make it an interesting must read. Now it is the same boring stuff you can get anywhere. Here is the comment I left for him Mike, You say the Scott Pioli, who is a highly respected personnel man, almost hired Chan Gailey for the Chiefs, and the only reason they didn't was for non-football reasons (fan base and media). Yet when the Bills hire Gailey, you trash it for not looking outside. If they wanted to stay in house they could have kept the highly respected Perry Fewell. As far as Gailey's college credentials, the guy did go to a bowl game every year and recruiting is almost as important as coaching in the college game. Would I have preferred Shanahan, Cowher or Martz? Of course, but Gailey isn't terrible. And Frazier's success has as much to do w/ the plethora of defensive talent given to him as it does his tampa-2 scheme which the Bills also ran (with far less talent) Does Wilson meddle? Of course he does, he's 90+ years old and has nothing else to do. He tried hiring an outside total football guy in Donahoe and that didn't work. So now he went back to a guy that was very successful w/ the Bills in Buddy Nix, who was on the Polian/Butler staffs and later went to SD with them. I don't see that as being a bad thing at all. All I am saying is that over the past 10 years, the Bills did try different approaches, Donahoe, Levy, Brandon (a marvelous business guy, who if he could have somehow translated to football, the Bills would have been great) and now Nix. If anything they are thinking too far outside the box by not going w/ the same tried and true safe approach that every other team uses. So please don't compare the Bills to the Raiders, who are fighting with each other literally and drafting guys in the 1st 2 rounds that could have been available in the 5th and 6th. Just because something hasn't been successful, doesn't mean it isn't for lack of change. Change does not equal better results.
  6. How do you turn a dishwasher into a snowblower? Hand her a shovel.... Anyways, remember that you can do anything you want and it is never too late to start
  7. Ralph's offices are in Grosse Point... and that flight to Buffalo from Raleigh around 2am is awfully interesting.... probably nothing, but it sure is strange
  8. here is the insider story... basically a reprint of everything else "The rumors over the past week have been conflicting as to whether or not Bill Cowher is returning to the NFL sidelines for 2010. The big problem -- as we're beginning to see -- is that there might not be a good situation for him. ESPN.com's Mike Sando speculated that Cowher could go to the Seahawks, whereas other rumors linked Cowher to the Panthers (if John Fox leaves), Cowboys (if they lose Saturday and Wade Phillips is fired) and Jaguars. It seems as though Raheem Morris is safe in Tampa Bay, at least from Cowher replacing him. While rumors of Cowher going to the Bills have sparked intense debate from both sides -- with NFL Insider Adam Schefter even getting a tip that Cowher wasn't in Buffalo on Tuesday, but instead walking his dog -- EastAurora.org's Joe Logan tweeted on Wednesday night that "Cowher OK with what the Bills will offer salary wise, but looking for commitment from RB for player budget." RB is Russ Brandon, Bills president. We're pretty sure the Bills don't leave the budget for player salaries up to Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson."
  9. This is absolutely false... Saunders system is very vertical and attack oriented, whereas a tampa 2 defensive system is very passive and relies on 4 DL to pressure the QB. In fact I would say that they are opposites.
  10. Al Saunders is from the Coryell/Martz line of vertical attack offenses... stuff is complicated, but the NFL is a passing league, the Saints and Pats are both running modified versions of a passing spread offense
  11. scooping the national media on the coaches, and the fact that this guy isn't pimping a sports blog or anything seems to make him more believable to me as well. There is too much smoke for nothing to be going on, the whole CBS highlights thing was also a pretty big indicator to me that there is definitely some conversation going on
  12. "I'm here to let you know, I'm still around" --Ralph. For being 90 years old, the guy still has a good sense of humor
  13. I think that the Bills knew they were going w/ Nix for a while now. It makes sense that they could reach out to different coaches "before" having a GM, they knew they were going w/ Buddy, so they could just ask him who he liked.
  14. excellent hire for UB... guy has been a successful assistant for a long time
  15. I'm a big fan of Claussen, but up huge numbers in a pro-style offense, under intense media pressure for 3 straight years... Look at Notre Dame's stats, the reason why they were terrible was b/c of the defense, their offense was quite good 9th in the country in yards/game and 5th in the country in passing yards/game. And this was a pro-style offense, not a gimmick spread deal Kid is the real deal
  16. so true! I thought the crowd was pretty good... nothing like kelly-marino, but when the Bills took the lead in the 4th it was pretty good. Also it seemed like there were more Miami fans there than usual
  17. As a general rule it is always better to break a bone than it is to tear ligaments.
  18. Take a look at them.... Florence INT Owens TD -Jon
  19. I'm going to be in the minority... but I love Mike Martz as a coach. Everywhere he has been the offense has been better when he was there and worse when he left. I could care less about running the football... all I care about is points scored, and if you look at stats every team he has been w/ was better offensively when he was there and worse when he wasn't
  20. The eagles have been pretty solid for the past decade having Andy Reid as the HC/GM
  21. Seriously, if there is one thing this team did right, it was picking the correct year to have to hire a new coach. Never before has there been such a good amount of proven winners available to hire. The real question is.... will Ralph spend the money to go get a quality GM and Coach. Money isn't very useful when you are dead
  22. There are only 2 college coaches I would want Kirk Ferentz or Mike Leach
  23. Wolf and Holmgren.... I think they were pretty good before working together
  24. C'mon who isn't surprised? Nobody thought there would be an in-season change, especially now... and especially since the team really didn't play that badly against TENN.... the 2 pick 6's at the end of the game really make the score look worse than what it was
