It's never too early in Buffalo...
bobobonators replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LMAO..sad, but true. there are people who would kill to be in his position. but at his age, how much motivation can this guy really have to succeed? how much fire/passion could this guy have left? not much apparently. -
It's never too early in Buffalo...
bobobonators replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL..i'm with you man, but I'm just not personally sold on any of the QB's coming out this year. If our front office is 100% sold on Mallett or Luck, then I'd say go ahead and draft one of them...but I wouldn't want to draft a QB in the top 3 just b/c we need a QB..in other words, I don't want ANY reach in the top 3. I want that pick to be as solid as it can..this team has so many obvious needs that trading down (if possible) would be ideal. I'm big on Heyward as well, but I've just seen more of Clayborn so I guess i"m kinda biased -
...for a mock draft! Trade down anywhere to pick 3-8. 1st round: Adrian Clayborn – DL – Iowa 2nd round (our pick): Mason Foster – LB – Washington 2nd round (trade down pick): Rodney Hudson – OG – Florida State 3rd round: Austin Pettis – WR – Boise St. 4th round: Wayne Daniels – DL – TCU 4th round (from Lynch trade): Marcus Gilbert – OL – Florida 5th round: Mike Mohamed – LB – Cal 6th round: Weslye Saunders – TE – South Carolina 7th round: Adam Grant – OT – Arizona yes, there's no QB on this list..that's b/c we go w/ Fitzy as our starting QB next year. This team requires a serious base to build on (for both offense and defense), and w/ the 2011 draft, hopefully we'll begin to do that.

Bills will TRADE top pick next year
bobobonators replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like others on here, I would probably trade down as well to anywhere between 5-10, which would give us at least an extra 2nd rounder. 1st rd: DL or LB 2nd rd: LB or DL (depending on what we don't take at 1) 2nd rd: OL 3rd rd: LB 4th rd: OL 4th rd: WR 5th rd: LB 6th rd: DL 7th rd: WR -
ugh, i don't even know what to think anymore. this team has so many holes that we need 3 drafts just to make some progress. if the FO and the coaching staff are sold on one of the 3 big qbs in this year's draft, I'd say that we def need to go QB..but if there's any doubt whatsoever on the QB's, we should really just trade down and get a couple of extra picks and load up on OL/DL

The Trent situation was not handled well
bobobonators replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sorry for getting in late to this conversation, but I had to comment on your "decisiveness" comment. Really? Gailey had since the moment he was signed, through training camp and preseason to evaluate the talent on this roster. This is not even mentioning all of the film that already existed on Trent; it's not as if he was a rookie. To name Trent the starting QB and then bench him after week 2 is one thing. But to then go and flat out RELEASE the guy you named your starting QB after 3 weeks into the season (of which he only started 2), is not only indecisive, but also clearly indicates that this new regime doesn't have much of a clear plan in place for this franchise. What exactly did Gailey see in these two weeks that wasn't already in film from the past few years? Nothing. Decisiveness would have been releasing Trent before training camp or the start of the season. Decisiveness would've been drafting Clausen, and not another RB when we already have two legit starting RB's. Decisiveness would've been realizing that you don't have **** at the QB position on this team, and addressing it in the off season - Bulger could've been had for a minimum and is light years ahead of anything we have here. Decisiveness is naming a starting QB and then actually starting him for more than 2 games, whoever that QB may be. Decisiveness is drafting Spiller and then actually starting him as our RB, and not switching back to Lynch. What franchise drafts a RB in the top 10, and later doesn't even give him half of a team's carries? Gailey has been anything but decisive -
Fitzpatrick at least gives this team some respectability and an opportunity to win. As a bills fan at this point in time, I couldn't ask for anything more. Great game by Fitz.

i never understood what the love affair with this guy was..he's been a part of what, three different regimes now? And he's still on this !@#$ing team?!? about to get extended??!!

This franchise has been in need of a QB for 20 years. We've had Peters, Dockery, Brown, and a plethora of solid OL over the years and 0 playoff wins. A great OL can block all it wants, but if the QB pats the ball for 20 seconds, he's going to get sacked regardless. To say this is a QB league is beyond a cliche at this point, but it's true. The days of run the ball and stop the run are over. We need major playmakers on offense to compete in this league. We need a top-shelf QB (not another 3rd round project), a top WR..and yes, a crapload of OL help. The more I think of it, I probably wouldn't draft a defensive player in this upcoming draft until the 5th or 6th round, if at all. So yes, if we're in love with Mallett, and have the chance to draft him, then I'd draft him w/o even twitching a pubic hair. quality OL can be easily found in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of a draft, it's more of a crap shoot with QB's. I wish we were this bad last year...oh Bradford...

Marshawn Lynch 'is not available'
bobobonators replied to earthtobrint's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just posted this comment on another thread: I was listening to Sirius Radio just now and Papa Packer came on the show late hits and said that there's plenty of "rumors" in Wisconsin saying that Green Bay would offer AJ Hawk for Lynch straight up. I dunno. -

It's OK, our destiny is Ryan Mallett. -
WOW, Detroit gets SCREEEEWED, the refs are terrible.
bobobonators replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's clear that he dropped the ball to go celebrate; he had already landed on the ground w/ his entire body. Does the player need to take the ball back with him to the bench for it to be ruled a TD? Maybe he should maintain possession until he gets home and goes to bed. This call is w/o a doubt the most ridiculous interpretation of the rule I've seen. -
hey guys, so I've been out of the country for a few months and I'm trying to find info on how Troup has played this preseason, and I haven't found anything really. Being that we now run a 3-4, Williams and Troups play will be crucial in order to have a solid defense. So, how has Troup been playing out there? How about Williams? Thanks guys.

Round 5, Pick #140: OT Ed Wang - Virgina Tech
bobobonators replied to ax4782's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wang is raw, with tremendous upside according to scouts. Apparently superb value for the 5th round as some analysts believed he could've gone as early as the first: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players...w;pageContainer Overview A tight end until early in the 2006 season, Wang was only moved to offensive tackle after former starting left tackle Brandon Frye (now with the Seattle Seahawks) went down with an injury. Wang suffered a broken fibula in the 2007 preseason that slowed his progress and limited him to start only the final seven games of the season at right tackle. His steady play earned Wang the move to left tackle in 2008. He started the final 28 games of his career on the blind side and he earned second-team all-ACC honors as a senior. Despite his 35 career starts, Wang remains very much a work in progress. Scouts would like to see him add more strength and toughness. Furthermore, Wang struggled with penalties in 2009. However, teams will have a hard time ignoring his intriguing combination of size and pure athletic ability in the middle rounds. Wang's athletic ability comes naturally, as his parents were each members of the Chinese Olympic team in the 1970s. Wang should be able to provide a team with a legitimate developmental prospect at left tackle. Analysis Pass blocking: Good initial quickness into his pass set. Typically plays with the patience to catch defenders as they try to get past him and has good enough strength and hand placement to latch on. Gains good depth on his kick-step to handle the speed rush, but will get caught leaning outside and is susceptible to a good spin move back inside. Will overreach and struggled with holding calls as a senior. Has the strength and balance to handle the bull-rush when he keeps his pad level low. Run blocking: Gains an early edge on the defender due to his quickness and surprising body control. Quick, active hands to latch on and the agility to turn and seal the defender. Only adequate strength as a drive blocker. Improved his aggression as a senior, but lacks the nastiness to his game offensive line coaches want in a prospect. Has a tendency to play high, negating his already questionable strength. Good effort to get to and block at the second level. Rare timed speed, but isn't as fast on the field. Good combo blocker. Pulling/trapping: Good quickness and surprising body control for blocking on the move. Agile enough to pull and get to the second level, but takes longer to get there than his straight-line speed would indicate. Takes false steps and questionable blocking angles. Too often misses his target. Latches on and works hard to sustain his blocks downfield. Good body control the cut-block. Initial Quickness: Moderate initial quickness into his pass set. Gains enough depth to handle speed rushers and has the long arms to compensate for his lack of elite agility. Good quickness off the line as a run blocker. Can get around and seal off the defensive end to control the edge. Good quickness for the cut-block. Downfield: One of his better traits. Former tight end with good straight-line speed and body control for the position. Good effort to get to the second level and flashes the ability to adjust in space and hit the moving target. Keeps his feet moving once engaged to sustain the block. Intangibles: Good bloodlines. Both parents were members of the Chinese Olympic team during the 1970s (father was high-jumper; mother was a 100 meter hurdler). Committed to Virginia Tech at only 16 years-old, the youngest in school history. Missed the first six games of the 2007 season due to a broke fibula. Recognized with the Don Williams TEAM UNITED award for his efforts during the spring and was voted a permanent team captain. 2009 Season Wang was selected Second Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2009 as voted on by the 40 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. 2008 Season Started every game, seeing action on over 960 snaps … Played every offensive snap in the opener against ECU … Also went the distance in the Georgia Tech and UNC games … Played all 70 offensive snaps at Nebraska and graded 83 percent … Added 70 more snaps in the WKU game … Was in for all 69 offensive snaps at Boston College … Played all 60 downs against FSU … Picked up four knockdown blocks in the Maryland game … Played all 70 offensive snaps against Duke … Graded 88 percent with three knockdowns in the Virginia game … Added four knockdowns during the Hokies' ACC Championship game win over BC … His 341-pound clean was second-best among the offensive linemen during off-season testing … Earned the Team United Award as the offensive player who put the team first during spring practice. 2007 Season Suffered a broken fibula during the preseason and underwent surgery … Returned to practice in late September … Dressed for the Clemson game but did not play … Started at right tackle against Duke and played every offensive snap with two knockdown blocks … Also went the distance on offense against BC with a pair of knockdowns … Played all 79 offensive downs at Georgia Tech … Had six knockdown blocks while playing all 78 snaps against FSU … Added 66 more plays in the Miami game … Sprained an ankle at Virginia, but still played 73 snaps … Came back to play all 71 snaps against BC in the ACC title game … Also went the distance during the Orange Bowl game … Turned in personal-bests in three of the four major lifts during off-season strength and conditioning workouts … Moved to left tackle for spring practice. 2006 Season Played 10 plays at tight end during the season opener with Northeastern … Started in a two tight end set at UNC … Had a knockdown block in the Duke game … Saw action on 28 offensive snaps and five special team plays against Georgia Tech … Was in for three plays against USM and seven versus Clemson … Got six snaps at Miami … Practiced at tackle following an injury to Brandon Frye … Played nine snaps at tight end against Kent State … Was in for 30 plays in the Wake Forest game and contributed a pair of knockdown blocks … Saw action on 27 plays in the Virginia game … Began taking some snaps at tackle during practice late in the season … Added weight during the off-season … Turned in a 341-pound push jerk … Began practicing solely at tackle when spring practice opened. 2005 Season Worked at tight end during a redshirt year his first season … Turned in a 400-pound back squat during scout team maxing in the fall … Posted a 314-pound push jerk during spring testing … Caught two passes for 28 yards in the Hokies' first spring scrimmage. Round 2, Pick #41: DT Torell Troup - Central Florida
bobobonators replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i'll admit that the Troup pick surprised me, but the more I read up on him, the more impressed I am and feel that he's one of the few DT's that are perfect for the NT position in the NFL. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players...w;pageContainer Although Torell changed his last name from Johnson to Troup for his last two seasons at UCF to honor the reemergence of his father into his family's life, it wasn't hard for scouts or opposing offenses to find his big body in the middle of the field. He earned second-team All-Conference USA accolades each of the past two seasons, first making 52 tackles, 12.5 for loss and two sacks as a junior on the Conference USA championship team. Those numbers were down a bit last fall (35-5-2) due to receiving more double-teams, but coaches recognized his ability to lead a rushing defense ranked in the top five nationally and take pressure off pass-rushing DEs Bruce Miller (13 sacks) and Jarvis Geathers (11). It's hard for teams to find nose tackles with Troup's size, strength and motor in the middle rounds of the draft, so don't be surprised if he is selected earlier than many project. Analysis Pass rush: Bull rusher who often pushes his man (or a double-team when fresh) to collapse the pocket using leverage. Able to rip off blocks, punch and swim over the top, or even get under the arm of guards to pressure the quarterback if he hangs onto the ball too long. Limited burst; will provide some heat but not many sacks. Sits on many obvious passing situations. Run defense: Stands his ground against single and double blocks using his girth and strength, although he lacks the quickness to split the double. Can be violent with hands to free himself. Able to sift through trash inside to get to ballcarrier. Moves laterally while engaged to stay in the play. Needs improvement avoiding and recovering from cut blocks. Explosion: Quick and powerful off the snap, penetrating easily against man-up blocks. Good balance after initial contact, keeping pads low and moving forward. Loses steam coming off the ball throughout the game. Strength: Very strong player; prime nose tackle candidate. Uses a low center of gravity and thick upper body to gain leverage. Able to stack his man and disengage to chase the quarterback or wrap up ballcarriers. Tackling: Has length and upper-body strength to bring down most any player in his immediate area. Willing to chase down players but lacks burst to track them down from behind without help or consistently make tackles outside the box. Doesn't change directions easily, and can be eluded in space. Must keep his feet moving instead of relying on his strength to make arm tackles. Intangibles: Hard-working, unselfish leader with a quiet sensibility. Consistently gives good effort inside whether rushing the passer or stopping the run. No major character issues. Worked off 30 pound of weight during his career to gain stamina, although he still carries extra around his midsection. Career Notes A two-time All-Conference USA pick as a double-team devouring nose tackle, allowing UCF to post some spectacular team defensive numbers … Started 39 of his 47 career games played and 105 tackles, 24 of which were for a loss … Team captain as a senior helping the Knights to a St. Petersburg Bowl bid … Was also a starter on UCF's 2007 Conference USA Championship team which played in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl … Selected to play in the East-West Shrine game after the season. 2009 Season A team captain … Voted onto the All-Conference USA Second Team … Started all 13 games at defensive tackle … Helped the Knights lead C-USA in rushing defense for the second consecutive season and post C-USA's top total defense … Made a season-high five tackles at Southern Miss (Sept. 12) … One of his four stops at eventual C-USA Champion East Carolina (Sept. 26) was a sack … Recorded four solo tackles and broke up a pass against Miami (Oct. 17) … Made a sack and tackles three in UCF's nationally-televised win against Marshall (Nov. 1) … Contributed a TFL and a PBU to UCF's upset of No. 13 Houston (Nov. 14). 2008 Season Voted onto the All-Conference USA Second Team … Made starts in all 12 games consistently being disruptive at his defensive tackle spot … Second on the team in tackles for a loss (12.5) … Created trouble vs. USF (Sept. 6), totaling four tackles including two tackles for a loss, as well as an 8-yard sack … Pressured UTEP (Sept. 27) with his eight total tackles, two of which went for a loss of 15 yards, and also forced a fumble … Congested the middle vs. SMU (Oct. 4), forcing two tackles for a loss and a QB hurry … Made five total tackles vs. Tulsa (Oct. 26) … Dominating performance vs. Southern Miss (Nov. 8), finishing with seven tackles, 2.5 for a loss and assisted on a sack … Also had a QB hurry as well as a pass break-up vs. the Golden Eagles … Totaled seven tackles in win vs. Marshall (Nov. 15), one for a loss … Finished the win at Memphis (Nov. 22) with four tackles including 1.5 for a loss … Accumulated four solo tackles vs. UAB (Nov. 29). 2007 Season Made 11 starts and appeared in all 14 games at defensive tackle … Picked up three tackles, including one for a loss, in a 25-23 win at NC State (Sept. 1) … Notched two solo tackles vs. No. 6 Texas (Sept. 15) … Picked up two takedowns and a sack for a loss of five yards in a victory vs. Louisiana (Sept. 29) … Recorded two tackles at East Carolina (Oct. 6) … Started at left tackle at USF (Oct. 13) … Saw time vs. Tulsa (Oct. 20) … Collected two tackles in the victory at Southern Miss (Oct. 28) … Made an appearance vs. Marshall (Nov. 3) … Posted a tackle at UAB (Nov. 10) … Finished the win at SMU (Nov. 17) with three tackles, including one for a loss of three yards … Assisted on a tackle for loss against UTEP (Nov. 24) … Posted a solo stop in the victory over Tulsa in the C-USA Championship Game (Dec. 1) and in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. Mississippi State (Dec. 29). 2006 Season Made his Knight debut against Southern Miss (Sept. 26) … Saw action in nine games, including three starts at defensive tackle … Made the first start of his career against Pitt (Oct. 13) … Registered his first tackle at Houston (Oct. 28) in his second start … Started the season finale against UAB (Nov. 25) and made the first solo tackle of his career. High School Three-year letterman at Salem High School for head coach Frank Caputo … High school teammate of current Knight Jayson Williams … Two-time first-team all-state performer as a junior and senior … Named first-team all-area as a junior and senior … 36th-ranked prospect in the state of Georgia in the preseason according to Rivals.com … First-team all-North Georgia defensive tackle … Named Atlanta Touchdown Club Player of the Week during senior campaign … Finished senior season with 96 total tackles (50 solo stops), six tackles for loss and three sacks. Well, Marshawn Is Starting Off The Year Right
bobobonators replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see why not. The NFL can have it's own list of banned substances despite them being legal for public consumption. There are several supplements that are legal to take and can be purchased at GNC by anyone but are banned by the NFL. Granted, they're banned b/c they're labeled as performance enhancing...but the NFL could simply come up with whatever reason to ban MJ. Tobacco is legal, but yet some companies/organizations don't allow their employees to smoke outside of work. -
I know it's the popular thing around here to always dismiss other teams' signing as unimportant, but the fact remains that the dolphins and jets have both made moves to improve their teams...while we do nothing whatsoever. We haven't even added depth, really. I think LT will have a really good year this year as a complimentary back to green..and behind that O-line, he'll be dangerous being that he has a huge chip on his shoulder as well.
