  1. I've mentioned him in other threads. I've only seen Johnson play 3 times, and what I did see I loved. However, I understand those who aren't thrilled with him, b/c of his lack of playing time at the college level. Johnson reminds me more of Kearse than Freeney. I'm on the bubble with drafting him. I would personally prefer Brown over Johnson, but it depends on who's there when we pick and if we're able to trade down or not. Good post though.
  2. 1. Question. Have you seen either Greg Hardy or Brown play? You're kinda twisting what i said around. I never said that Brown wouldn't make it in a 4-3, i'm simply saying that Hardy (in my opinion--and many others) is better suited for a 4-3 than Brown. (for the NFL) 2. Gamble? What pick in the draft isn't a gamble? I'm basing my pick purely on upside and raw talent. And in my opinion, Hardy is the second most talented player at DE for a 4-3 in this draft. None of his injuries have been severe. He's still young. 3. I never said to pick Hardy at 11. I would look to take him by trading down to the mid-to-high 20's and taking him there and getting an extra 2nd in the process.
  3. See that? Don't you think I freaking know that? You go through the trouble of posting that Stroud could gain weight and transition to a position he's never played before in the NFL. I'm sure Kyle Williams would be great in a 3-4 too, right? McCargo? Oh, how about Ellis? I'm sure he would make a great DE in this 3-4 scheme, being the fanthom weight he is. You're asking Schobel to gain weight without realizing that by gaining weight, you're taking his biggest attribute away-his quickness. Then you continue to babble about weight not having to do anything with it..and that it's "talent". No sh--. Here's something you're apparently not aware of: there's 3-4 talent, and there's 4-3 talent. Guess which we have? And for you to continue on with your fantasies of a 3-4 with this current roster is truly exemplary of your football IQ.
  4. LOL. Wow. You're living in a fantasy world. Every point you made, when taken on a case-by-case basis may be logical to you on paper, but it's not going to translate to real life scenarios. When broken down, your argument is essentially summed up as follows: To be successful in a 3-4, buffalo's current defensive players would just have to gain weight.
  5. lol. God, what a waste of pure talent that would be in our scheme.
  6. I like evertte brown, however, I think brown is better suited for a 3-4 defense in the NFL (which our defense is not). To me, Hardy with his size, would be a perfect pure 4-3. He's at around 260 last time I checked and can bulk up still 10 pounds more easily as he continues to mature. Hardy reminds me of osi U. from the Giants or a Gaines Adams, except much more athletic, and much more explosive. My only concern may be injuries, but none of them have been really serious. Hardy is a beast, Period.
  7. LOL...i like your humor. Ya, i heard about mays on espn earlier today. That'll shake up the draft a bit in the first round.
  8. I would be willing to do that. Then I would just take the best WR available in the 3rd. Maybe a Brian Robiskie from tOSU or Austin Collie from BYU; it depends on how the draft goes. Maybe Britt will even be there in the third, who knows.
  9. I love your enthusiasm, but you're way off in my opinion. To begin with, Stroud isn't a NT, and although he may be able to perform as a NT, his ability would be compromised. Next, having Denney/Schobel as ends on a 3-4 would be disastrous..it's already bad enough in a 4-3. they're too small to be ends on a 3/4..if anything, we would have to move them to OLB's in a 3-4 (unless that's what you meant in your post). To have a 3-4, it would take, other than Schobel, a completely new DL, and even schobel wouldn't be ideal in a 3-4...and as for the linebackers, we would need two OLB's since I wouldn't be thrilled with the prospect of seeing denney/kelsay and co. as linebackers. Transitioning to a 3-4 would be a horrible idea for this team. We're better off simply improving our current scheme, which I (and many others) believe can be done by getting a pass rushing DE to compliment Schobel.
  10. On my draft board, he's the 2nd best DE prospect for the NFL - and he will be a bill.
  11. We don't have the player personnel for the 3-4. We don't have the defensive coordinator for the 3-4. We don't have the head coach for the 3-4. No defense will succeed w/o a pass rush, and almost any kind of defense will be successful with a pass rush. Hence, we should worry about getting a pass rush before worrying about getting a new scheme.
  12. Wasn't Maybin a redshirt sophomore? In my opinion, Maybin had one solid year, and is certainly a good prospect, but whatever team drafts this guy, they better be prepared for a hell of a learning curve/transition to the NFL with him. He's at least a 2 year project..just to get to starting caliber in the NFL (in my opinion). I saw Maybin several times this season..and I don't know..he just looks soft in my opinion and undeveloped for the NFL. It would be ludicrous to take him anywhere in the 1st round..imo. What you say about contracts could be an explanation for him delcaring...
  13. I'd have to disagree. There is no way I could see Maybin going top 15. Too much depth at DE in this draft that's ready to go to the next level and produce a lot quicker than Maybin. The absolute highest I could see Maybin going in this draft is high 2nd round. As of right now, he's simply not cut to be an NFL DE. He needs to put on at least 20 pounds, or be drafted by a 3-4 defense and tansition to LB...and there are players in this draft that are ahead of him at that position as well. I honestly think it was foolish of him to declare. We'll see.
  14. lol. ya, sorry about that. (long night). Week*
  15. That's exactly why Caldwell would fit perfectly in buffalo. Even better if we could get him in the 3rd instead of wasting a 1st or high 2nd on one of those overrated Centers who play 1 solid defense a year in the Pac-10. Caldwell goes up against the country's fastest and biggest defenses, week after week. SEC>>PAC10
  16. I just want to remind everyone to watch today's Baltimore/Titans game, since I'll be bringing Collins to buffalo this offseason.
  17. LOL, sorry for the hiatus. I'm reducing Dick's salary by 200K/year, and will offer it to you if you're interested. As for the benefits package, we're prepared to offer you and your family KO's house in Buffalo. It's supposedly worth millions..
  18. Alright folks, it was a pleasure discussing this offseason with you. Unfortunately, I"m a busy guy, and have to step away for a while. Please, feel free to leave comments. I look forward to responding to them when I get back. I wish you all a nice day! Remember, with my hiring, there will be winds of change in Buffalo!
  19. I understand your financial concern. However, you're still way off with the salary my dear friend. Asante samuel signed at 6 years, 57 million (9 mill and change a year). Greer will NOT be at 7 million. 5 million a year is about a best case scenario for greer. Also, Greer won't even cost 5 million a year. Go around the league and look at what #1 corners (which Greer is not) on most teams are making. We should be able to lock up Greer in the 4 million/year range. As for injuries. Yes, you can say that about any position. However, we have a chance to resign a player that has performed well for us at a position that requires much depth. To me, it's a top priority. Also, remember that after 2009, McGee becomes a Free Agent. Greer (26) is 2 years younger than McGee (28), and will demand less money than McGee will next year. WE lock up Greer now, b/c unfortunately we might not be able to resign McGee next year. But that won't be a concern, b/c by 2010, McKelvin will be ready to lock down the #1 or at least, the #2 corner spot. You see my friend, that's why they'll be paying me the big bucks in 2 weeks.
  20. Dansby will not be out of our price range b/c he will be our #1 priority in the offseason, and pretty much our only costly addition to the roster. Crowell will be gone. Unless he is willing to resign as a backup with this team, we have no intention on bringing him back. Crowell is starting to become injury prone, and we will no longer need his services with the addition of Dansby. We wish him well wherever he goes. Whitner will be our starting SS. With the addition of Brown to FS. The combo of Brown/KO will solidify the FS position.
  21. Solid response. However, you can NEVER have enough depth at DB..especially considering the string of injuries we've been having the past several seasons. Are you ready to start McKelvin at CB every game? This team is not-yet. McKelvin will be the nickel again this season. Our starting corners will be McGee and Greer with McKelvin, Youboty, and Corner rounding out the depth at that position. Remember, injuries will occur. What if Mcgee goes down? Who will step in for him? Greer/McKelvin sounds a lot better than McKelvin/Youboty as our starting corners in case of injury. If greer walks, we are extremely thin at that position very quickly (in terms of experience). We NEED to resign greer. Also, you are way off in the 7 million mark I feel. Champ Bailey is at 7 years 63million (9 mill a year). Greer is nowhere close to Champ Bailey money. Expect Greer at around 5 million a year. We are well within the cap to afford a player like Greer.
  22. I couldn't disagree more with your post. If the Bills had a Collins-type qb this year, I'm very confident we might have made the playoffs. JP Losman will be gone, and Hamden has no experience QB'ing in this league. If we want any chance at being competitive next year, we cannot afford to go into the season with Trent having no protection behind him. In fact, with Collins in here, there will be an open competition for the starting position at QB. If trent continues to display his hesitant/scared attributes during preaseason like he did at some points this year, this orgnaization will not hesitate in benching him for a while so he can regather his thoughts. Also, please do not compare Favre to Collins. Favre brings with him a circus where ever he goes. Favre is greater (or so he thinks) than the team. Collins is a team player and will not create a disturbance on the roster. I think you're way off on the comparison.
  23. I agree with your thoughts. We expect Dansby to be our highest purchase this off-season. However, with the departure of Crowell (he will not be resigned), Dansby will be a very big addition to our linebacking corps. We are well within our cap to afford him - and he's still relatively young.
  24. Very good question. We think trading down is our best scenario in this draft. However, if we are unable to do so, we are looking very closely at Everett Brown - Florida State - DE or Taylor Mays - USC - FS/SS or James Laurinities - Ohio State - LB. We're high on all of these. Another player that's on the rise on our draft board is BJ Raji - Boston College -DT I'm excited at the prospect of landing any of these. But again, we would prefer to trade down as of now.
