  1. Was I the ONLY one in the world that noticed that Pittsburgh put up 150+ passing yards with less than 3 minutes gone in the 2nd quarter? The reason that Pittsburgh was able to run the ball down Buffalo's collective throat was that Rex played the last 2-1/2 quarters with 2 down lineman (and Shaq occasionally putting his hand on the ground too) after getting abused through the air. The only guy that held his own defensively in that game was Gilmore.
  2. It's hilarious isn't it? Get used to it Blokes; it's not going to get any better. I really think that ifMelifonwu breaks 4.5 and puts up some solid athletic numbers in his workouts, some team will see Kam in him and take him in the 1st. It would take quite a feat to move him from a day 2 guy for me as well.
  3. I think we're going to start to see the Obi Melifonwu train start to pick up steam now. In the few games I watched, he looks very good in coverage, and when creeping up in run support, the play always seems to stop at his doorstep. I have no idea how well he'll play with his back to the ball when he has over-the-top responsibility, but the simple fact that he's got prototype WR size will cause scouts to drool. He kind of reminds me of Miles Killebrew type—only Melifonwu actually finds his way to the ball. He strikes me as the type that could have a meteoric rise into the top-20 if he tests well in workouts, but right now I see him as a R2-R3 guy. Gotta love the play at the 4:21 mark...fight through the trash and lay the wood.
  4. Nor do I...I do think, however, that--based on the comparison--he's going to expect to get a LOT more than I expected.
  5. Bumping this so that we can put Gimore's numbers in context: Gilmore stats for the 2016 season: 69 targets, 40 receptions, 627 yards, 2 TDs, 67.7 passer rating against, 42 solo tackles http://billswire.usatoday.com/2017/01/11/why-bills-cb-stephon-gilmore-wasnt-as-bad-as-you-thought-in-2016/ Article from Ike Taylor on his top 10 CBs in 2016: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000769950/article/yearend-cornerback-rankings-richard-sherman-lands-at-no-1 Richard Sherman, Seattle Seahawks: allowed 44 catches on 85 targets for 624 yards, two TDs, four INTs, 64.0 passer rating against, 38 solo tackles Patrick Peterson, Arizona Cardinals: allowed 43 catches on 74 targets for 539 yards, two TDs, three INTs, 72.9 passer rating against, 45 solo tackles Chris Harris Jr., Denver Broncos: allowed 34 catches on 72 targets for 337 yards, three TDs, two INTs, 63.3 passer rating against, 57 solo tackles Marcus Peters, Kansas City Chiefs: allowed 51 catches on 89 targets for 652 yards, three TDs, six INTs, 63.5 passer rating against, 35 solo tackles Josh Norman, Washington Redskins: allowed 44 catches on 88 targets for 589 yards, four TDs, three INTs, 72.6 passer rating against, 52 solo tackles Janoris Jenkins, New York Giants: allowed 37 catches on 81 targets for 425 yards, two TDs, three INTs, 54.8 passer rating against, 44 solo tackles Adam Jones, Cincinnati Bengals: allowed 47 catches for 76 targets for 482 yards, two TDs, one INT, 83.3 passer rating against, 54 solo tackles Xavier Rhodes, Minnesota Vikings: allowed 33 catches on 79 targets for 384 yards, two TDs, five INTs, 39.2 passer rating against, 44 solo tackles Aqib Talib, Denver Broncos: allowed 36 catches on 73 targets for 372 yards, zero TDs, three INTs, 53.3 passer rating against, 32 solo tackles Jalen Ramsey, Jacksonville Jaguars: allowed 48 catches on 90 targets for 703 yards, two TDs, two INTs, 68.0 passer rating against, 55 solo tackles Summary: - Gilmore was targeted by opposing QBs fewer times than everyone on that list - He allowed more yards than everyone on the list save for Ramsey and Peters - Talib allowed zero TDs, and Gilmore tied with 6 others on the list for 2nd-fewest with 2 TDs allowed - Gilmore's passer rating allowed was 3.7 points behind Sherman, and better than than those allowed by Patrick Peterson, Josh Norman, Adam Jones, and Jalen Ramsey - Gilmore had fewer INTs than Peters, and tied with Rhodes for 2nd-most from that list I'd say that Gilmore definitely has an argument that he should be considered among the top 10 cover corners in the NFL based on the numbers. Thoughts?
  6. Well, Spotrac has Dont'a Hightower projected at $10M AAV. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-england-patriots/donta-hightower-9835/market-value/ Zach Brown is very close in age, and compares favorably to Hightower in terms of career solo tackles per game and career sacks per game, so there's a chance he comes in MUCH higher than I anticipated.
  7. And here...we...go... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000779227/article/senior-bowl-mike-mayocks-day-2-practice-stars "Here's who stood out to me on Wednesday: ------------------- Tipkin is only 6-foot-1 but the ball flies out of his hands. He struggled on Day 1, but I thought he looked a lot more comfortable out there on Day 2 and made some big adjustments, especially under center. Now I want to see him lock in on Day 3."
  8. Exactly--if you think a guy can become a franchise QB, then you take him. No exceptions.
  9. Not ready to make a call on that yet. I have more work to do
  10. Give a 1st rounder for a guy that is a malcontent and can't even get open against a scrub like Gilmore? No thanks Seriously though, I'd do that in a heartbeat.
  11. He's clearly better than that scrub Richard Sherman, who can't even cover Robert Woods! I mean, what kind of bum lets the Ryan Fitzpatrick-Stevie Johnson combo beat them for a TD? http://m.49ers.com/video/videos/Stevie-Johnson-Beats-Richard-Sherman-for-TD/68837982-c01b-43d0-b29f-bb5bf0ae9856
  12. Gotcha-- that was an uncharacteristic wildly inaccurate set of numbers from you, which is why I asked
  13. Are you sober? The team didn't play 34 games in 2015, and Gilmore wasn't in the league in 2011
  14. Pop quiz: which of those guys allowed fewer TDs and a lower passer rating against in 2016? Just curious how many folks actually know...not a personal shot at you
  15. Started and finished high school Started and finished college Got a full time job and started a business Gained and lost 50 lbs Got married and had twins Lost a parent No biggie
  16. So he'll have to settle for being a RG. Andy Levitre had the same criticism and ended up a mid 2nd round pick.
  17. Give me the championship--get off the schneid first and we'll worry about winning without a scandal later
  18. I'm willing to bet that Matt Ryan is in Dimitroff's ear right now demanding an explanation for why the team didn't trade Julio and a 1st for Hogan. That'd be a bargain
  19. Nope. http://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=400874489 2nd and 9, gain of 7 (but if you watch the play it was a bit more) So it was then 3rd and 2 (actually 1-1/2). No need to apologize for being wrong (or for being childish with the name-calling).
  20. Oh stop, it was 2nd down and he trusted his team to get a 1st down on 3rd and a foot. The guy has played through injuries for much of 3 seasons. He's not a kitty.
  21. I haven't gone back and weighted my nerdtastic scores, but I had them at 20th before applying strength of opposing offenses faced. I suspect they'd drop to around 23rd-24th.
  22. Been through this with you before: they finished 16th in PPG allowed. That's average. Now, we can dive deeper on that and reach a different conclusion, but by a raw evaluation it's hardly stupid to suggest that--performance wise--they were average
  23. There is literally no possible way that you can honestly believe that. Zero. None. And if you tell me that you do, I won't believe you. Seriously.
