  1. Except Stephon Gilmore
  2. Nice topic I'll go... Cleveland: DeShone Kizer SF: Jimmy Garoppolo Jets: DeShawn Watson Bears: Mitch Trubisky Bills: Tyrod Taylor Broncos: Trevor Siemien Texans: Tony Romo
  3. After watching this weekend's games, there's no question why Gilmore is going to get PAID. CB play around the league is generally awful; 8 teams played his weekend, and 0.0 of them could cover a WR. Gilmore can--and thus he will be handsomely rewarded in UFA.
  4. I'll take Antoine Bethea--vet that can do everything McDermott likes from his safeties, and--since he'll be a cap casualty--won't cost against us in the comp pick formula
  5. Why would McDermott run the Tampa 2? Isn't it possible that he simply trusts Frazier to teach the system?
  6. He's a good teacher, so let's hope he can marry his teaching style with McDermott's scheme
  7. Good grief. Do you purposely misconstrue every single thing that happens with regard to this team? Greg Roman ran plenty of zone blocking concepts--inside zone, outside zone, split zone, radar, pin/pull--all zone concepts. If anything, the blocking schemes will be FAR less complex (assuming whoever becomes the OC runs exclusively zone schemes).
  8. Correct...and it was an abject failure Great OL coach though
  9. Castillo is an excellent OL coach--he can get the most out of what he's given.
  10. And here comes Desmond King!
  11. I would like to see that--they are both solid.
  12. What tale would that be? That he's not perfect? We know...but he's very, very good.
  13. I assume they mean keep their culture of a "play dominant defense" type team.
  14. As I said, if I added a strength of schedule component, I'm sure they'd drop somewhere into the 20's. I simply tracked the hard numbers for each team as part of an ongoing effort to see if there's any correlation between specific metrics and winning percentage long-term. Don't let my mentioning him fool you; this is exactly where I am on Aaron Williams
  15. I don't see much in the ways of management--it's more about setting the expectations in the offseason for how certain things will be handled logistically and administratively.
  16. It's a good thing--you've gotta give the coach the resources that he wants in each of those fields. If nothing else, it gives him a comfort level that the day-to-day things are being handled as he sees fit.
  17. It is? Leroi himself--who I know you respect--has said that everyone is on the same page with this hire.
  18. Here are a few other primers that I find to be pretty accurate: http://www.catscratchreader.com/2012/2/28/2831884/the-panthers-defense-a-treatise-on-the-jim-johnson-4-3-part-i http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/11/8/5080004/panthers-vs-49ers-defense-breakdown http://www.blitzology.com/2016/01/super-bowl-preview-carolina-panther.html
  19. Completely wrong. 2 TDs allowed all season, and a passer rating against of 67.7 If that's awful, then I'll take awful all day long, and so would 32 NFL head coaches.
  20. AJ Klein for sure--maybe Malcolm Smith as well. One of those two, plus re-sign Zach, and the LB group looks a lot better.
  21. The biggest takeaway I get from watching McDermott's defense is the approach to using his front-4. Perhaps it's because of the talent that he had, but he loved to use Short and Lotuleilei to force things inside. This fits having Kyle and Dareus really well, but it will rely on the EDGE guys to be a bit patient on run plays and not crash so heavily. I also really like that he uses his front-4 to generate pressure in the pass game...this is where I want to see what he can do. If he can put our DTs in position to attack the pocket, I expect Hughes and Shaq to gain more than a few cleanup sacks. I really do worry about the LB and safety spots though--I don't want to be in a position where this team is forced into drafting for need.
  22. Timing is not a factor--he cannot move laterally without permission from his current team.
  23. Yeah, that's probably true. I'd say that re-signing Zach Brown would help the LB situation. No Spikes for sure. If I thought that Preston Brown could fetch a mid-round pick, then I'd say look for a trade, but I don't see that happening. They might have to go the Jim Schwartz method of simply hiding him in zone coverage when they need to--if he plays the Will spot and is the 1st LB off the field in nickel sets, he can probably contribute. Ragland...sigh. Blokes will laser me for this, but I simply wasn't a Ragland guy. He's more athletic than he gets credit for, but I don't see a Kuechly or a Davis looking at him. Maybe he can drop down to 235ish LBs and acquit himself in coverage as you say...that would be a huge bonus. You're reading him wrong methinks...I didn't see that as an indictment so much as a question of how they approached scheming against the opponent.
  24. No. He's saying to draft a rookie high come April or sign a coveted FA. That guy would be the #2.
