  1. These tweets, coupled with Chenelly dropping hints about Pittsburgh guys, makes me wonder if Haley or Butler are in the picture
  2. Nah. Wade worked for kubiak. Whiz worked for McCoy. I know there are others too.
  3. I don't see why not...I'd like to think that familiarity and a solid DL would put him in a good position to re-establish himself as a coordinator. It would especially make sense if Lynn doesn't get a HC job and decides to stay (assuming, of course, that they planned to move together). Although I could also see him returning to Seattle to resume his job as DC there, I don't exactly think it'll go a long way to squashing the thought that his success was merely due to Pete Carroll's defensive system. I'm biased because I really liked Richard as a player out of USC, and thought he had a chance to be a very good corner.
  4. No thanks. I watched Todd Haley's Chiefs team get beaten twice in a row by Chan Gailey's Bills by a combined score of 76-14. No. Thanks.
  5. More or less what I was thinking--I'd love to keep LorAx to play snaps at Leo and Sam when needed as well
  6. Lawson is a LDE all day in a 40 front. Rags is a Mike LB. Best approach would be to bring back Zach to play Sam and shift Preston to Will. Washington is a guy that would play 3T, but could give you snaps on the EDGE on early downs and in obvious run fronts.
  7. The Sherman stuff is tongue in cheek rebuttal that good corners don't (a) get burnt by average receivers or (b) get trucked by TEs. Suffice to say that I don't think Gilmore is soft , but I will agree that he started the season in preservation mode.
  8. Yep--you've got my point nailed
  9. Detroit just let 50 seconds of game clock run off without using a single timeout
  10. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!
  11. If they go the FA route, I'd like a cap casualty like Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie or Sam Shields.
  12. Your stats proving that Gilmore is...wait..you provided no stats. You actually provided no facts of any kind. Lastly, you seem to be unable to follow the discussion, since you've somehow inexplicably managed to attribute to me the statement that Gilmore is a good tackler. It's a shame really, because I've laid things out pretty clearly. As do most NFL personnel evaluators I'd wager--and it'll show in his contract come March.
  13. Thanks, but in his case opposing council actually presented evidence!
  14. This is what someone says when they have zero ability to prove their point.
  15. You also think that Trent Dilfer was "an all time great" Seriously I just had a very eye-opening moment in comparing yearly tackle numbers between Gilmore and Sherman. So similar it'll shock some folks.
  16. Well, it's basically Gilmore vs a 1st round pick or Kevon Seymour. Aside from that, I'm astonished that some folks think that Janoris Jenkins, Darius Slay, and Trumaine Johnson are getting their $12M AAV contracts because of their tackling ability (or lack thereof). That's simply not true. Nope--saw it. But he missed a tackle on a TE, which is what he's really paid to do. If Sherman were any good, he'd do stuff like this to players other than QBs: http://m.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Stephon-Gilmore-breaks-up-long-pass-to-Gronkowski/7301efd9-a9dc-4bde-8c93-fc3b90616a25 It's so easy to cherry pick!
  17. I take it that you didn't watch Sherman getting tricked by that juggernaut Vance McDonald? You have one answer to the whole debate: he's not a great tackle. That's fine--he's a cover guy.
  18. Yes, one game makes or breaks a player...that's why the Jets game is the only game that matters when we evaluate Gilmore. And if you think I said that he's just as good as Sherman, you haven't been paying attention. I can't make it any clearer than I have. 2 TDs allowed and. 67.7 passer rating allowed--that's his season. And somehow there are folks that claim he's "average" or not good. It's baffling in every conceivable way. You lose all credibility when you call his coverage skills "decent". You're jaded for some reason and it has you completely closed to the facts. Basically
  19. The "great tackling" Richard Sherman ladies and gentlemen: http://m.imgur.com/gallery/TzDcw8H
  20. Okay then: who had the most solo tackles of the 3 this year? Who had the most INTs? Oh, and in regards to top corners not getting beat by certain receivers... Sherman sucks--Woods abused him on national TV. Revis sucks--Goodwin torched him on national TV. Even average corners have no business getting beaten by those 2 bums See how easy it is? Ah, so a coach only qualifies if he thinks Gilmore is not good? Well, I'm exceptionally glad that you aren't leading the coaching search! It's simple: they want a corner that never allows a completion and never misses a tackle. Not a bum like Sherman who can't even cover Robert Woods.
  21. That's like saying that you want an edge rusher to play well in coverage--it's not his primary (or even secondary) role. CBs need to cover first--tackling comes at a distant second. Clements was an okay tackler, not great, and he wasn't in Gilmore's league in terms of man coverage. He had half of a very good season. And so again I'll ask: of the corners that are in Gilmore's echelon of coverage ability, which are the good tacklers? Bottom line: NFL CBs get paid to change cover; tackling ability is a bonus. If you only want to pay guys that are elite in both areas, then be prepared to watch every corner walk out the door.
  22. Obviously I didn't read it, because I don't read TBN, but here's what I don't understand: Didn't they hire the big-name star 2 years ago? How'd that work out? Shouldn't getting the right guy be priority, and NOT just a big name?
  23. 2 TDs allowed and a 67.7 passer rating against #facts
  24. He had some bad blown assignments in coverage, but tackling was hardly the issue with him; he finished 2nd in the NFL to Bobby Wagner in total tackles. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?tabSeq=0&statisticCategory=TACKLES&conference=null&season=2016&seasonType=REG Frankly I don't think he deserved to be an all-pro, but numbers often drive the vote. And if he expects an all-pro salary next year, he's going to have to get it someplace else.
  25. Which is why he had 18 tackles in a single game and made the all-pro team Though at least you have a chance to be half-right if he doesn't sign here
