Verner has been one of my targets for a cheap vet signing. I'd do it as competition for Seymour -

A closer look into Tyrod Taylor's 2016 season
thebandit27 replied to cover1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't want to speak for Erik, because the man knows his X's and O's as well as anyone... For me, my opinion is that Dennison will want to use boot-action and moving pockets from under-center looks to help vary the route concepts and keep the defense honest. It's not a great substitute for a QB that can make full-field reads on a routine basis, but it's better than nothing. -

The Six Most-Likely Scenarios for a Bills Trade-Down
thebandit27 replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, assuming that there is such a thing, I would say that the following guys qualify as "probable day-1 starters" for just about every team: Myles Garrett Jonathan Allen Malik Hooker Jamal Adams Marshon Lattimore Sidney Jones Reuben Foster Corey Davis Mike Williams Dalvin Cook It's not an automatic--someone needs to be willing to come up, and you need to make sure that you're getting value for moving down. Dropping into the 20's and potentially watching 10+ of your higher-rated prospects go off the board, just to acquire an extra 3rd round pick would be a terrible move (not that I think you're endorsing such a move; I simply mean that "just trade down" isn't a push-button scenario). -
2017 NFL Mock Drafts & Top Prospects
thebandit27 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in College Football
You have to stop stealing my mid-round prospects, Blokes. I like Robinette quite a bit actually. To me, this isn't a very deep WR class, unlike last year when we figured that immediate contributors like R. Anderson and G. Allison would be available late, so I'm hoping it's Davis/Williams in R1 or Kupp/JuJu in R2. Chances are that once we get past R2, guys like J-Rob that have size and a stupid catch radius will get scooped up quickly. -
The Six Most-Likely Scenarios for a Bills Trade-Down
thebandit27 replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I suppose that's plausible, but I don't see teams being eager to trade up for a MLB, nor do I think all of Tennessee, LAC, and Cincinnati would pass on Foster By far the most likely scenario IMO...I'd also add Houston and NYG as teams that could come up for a QB I don't see Philly posing enough of a threat to take an OT given that they have Peters and Lane Johnson. I also don't see teams moving up for a tackle in a weak draft. That would shock me to see a team move up for Peppers--he just isn't spectacular at any one thing, and there's value in a guy like Budda Baker to be had simply by staying put. EDGE seems too deep to move up this year...if you're desperate for a pass rusher, you can sit at 16 and take the best of Barnett, Charlton, Tim Williams, TJ Watt, or Ryan Anderson. I could definitely see that, especially if a team felt that there was a big dropoff between the top 2 corners (let's call them Lattimore and Sidney Jones) and the next guy on the board (say, TreDavious White or M. Humphrey) -
I had two glasses of Diplomatico Reserve rum last night VERY sweet, but delicious. I would recommend it to sippers.

I just go to Premier Liquor in Amherst, NY--they have all 3 in the back room.

They've taken over whiskey the way they took over electronics in the 1980s. The Japanese have a single barrel called Hibiki-17 that is delightful. The best, IMO, is a Taiwanese 11-year called Kavalan (the blue bottle). Even the "lesser" ones like Taketsuru are great too.

Two 1.5-oz pours of some high-quality spirit (usually Asian whiskey) once/week after the kids are in bed.

NFL Combine List: Chad Kelly Not Invited
thebandit27 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My biggest on-field problem with Kelly is that he shows zero ability to touch pass. His deep balls and fade throws are always rockets--if he can't develop touch, he can't start in this league. -

No, the main reason that Miami cut him is that they could gain $7.2M in cap space and had a guy on the roster that they felt could take over at LT. Why else would you cut a player that started 13 of 17 games at LT and blocked for a guy that netted 3 200-yard rushing performances in 12 starts? A team that ranked 7th in the NFL in team yards/carry and surrendered only 30 sacks, which ranked 10th in the NFL?
-
Yes, I know, anyone that's ever missed a game is injured all the time (even when they don't miss games). That's the NFL--guys play through injuries. Period. Availability is what's important. In the 17 games that Miami played this year, Albert missed 4. He was listed on the injury report in 2 others, so unless he told you otherwise, the assertion that he was often injured the rest of the time (let alone more injured than the hundreds of other NFL players not listed on injury reports on a weekly basis) is baseless speculation.
-
He's started 35 of 48 games over the last 3 regular seasons...that's not "injured all the time" He also never missed a game in the previous 6 seasons for KC. If you think that his health is declining, that's fine, but let's stick to the facts.
-
I don't think so... Clady still gets classified as a compensatory free agent since his option wasn't picked up.

Whaley wants Cardale to be 2017 starter
thebandit27 replied to HumbleAndHungry's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously Rex didn't get the job done; that doesn't mean we need to overstate the situation. His need to have a bajillion checks and re-checks that need to be communicated within milliseconds between offensive adjustments and snaps is what doomed the defense. That Dareus dropped into coverage a total of 9 times didn't. Context: http://www.cover1.net/2016/02/20161212015-bills-defensive-study-defensive-line/
