  1. He did play LT in KC. He left in FA because he wanted to be the top-paid LT in football, and didn't want to play another year on the franchise tag.
  2. I don't think "win now" applies to a new coach like Gase as much as it does to a guy like Rex, and I also speculate that their OL could've been as good (if not better) with Tunsil at LT. That's not to say that you're wrong, but rather to say that I value long-term vision of team-building (and, to a more direct point, OL building) more than a win-now philosophy.
  3. I also want to repeat that this release is the de facto reason that it made absolutely zero sense for Albert to stay at LT and Tunsil to play LG last season. Tunsil had never played guard, whereas Albert had. Tunsil was undoubtedly going to be on the team in 2017, whereas Albert was very likely to depart. What were they thinking making a rookie learn a new position just to move back to his original position a year later, when they could've simply moved an aging vet back to the position he played in college for 3 years?
  4. Probably--13 missed start over the last 3 seasons. As always with guys his age, it comes down to value--will he take a cap-friendly deal for a chance to start?
  5. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/02/16/report-dolphins-will-cut-branden-albert/ I'd look at him as an option for RT, plus he can play some guard like he did in college. Bonus that he doesn't count against the compensatory pick formula since he's a cut.
  6. So Dareus was just an example? Well, in that case, it was the worst possible player to use as an example since it's nigh fiscally impossible to trade him. Better?
  7. Someone needs to talk me down from the Howard Wilson ledge... I know he's raw, but the measurables and athleticism look legit, and I loved his game against Oklahoma. Agreed--I could see him going anywhere in the 17-28 range. I think any of Tennessee, Tampa Bay, Houston, or Dallas would jump at a guy that can play box safety and slot corner.
  8. He played 417 defensive snaps because he missed 5 games. You can think he's not worth a roster spot (which is silly because he's a 2-time all-pro), but even then, cutting him costs $33M, and that would be a patently stupid thing for any team to do with any player. Simple logic should tell you that if a player--any player--costs $16.4M to keep and $32.7M to cut, then you keep him, because doubling his cap hit and having one less guy on the roster is the kind of thing that should result in an instant firing of whichever person made that decision.
  9. thanks for the hard work...a few thoughts: - Alejandro Villanueva is the Steelers' starting LT; I have no idea why he's in the Spotrac system as a Bills' ERFA - The contracts you're showing for Cyprien and Remmers are really low-ball--Remmers and Ricky Wagner are the same age, and both have started for 2 years. Spotrac has Wagner estimated at nearly $7M AAV, so I can't see Remmers taking less than $6M, let alone $4.8. Same story for Cyprien, whose numbers are better than Rodney McLeod, who got $7M AAV from Philly last offseason - I'd be pleasantly shocked if Budda Baker is there in the 40's Overall though, I think the plan would be a few steps backward.
  10. Wrong...simply wrong in every way: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/191433-gilmore-the-shadow-knows/page-9?do=findComment&comment=4234493
  11. I have to ask: it seems that this entire plan is predicated upon the cap space that will be created by not picking up Taylor's option and not re-signing Gilmore; do you seriously expect to be able to get Garappolo to play this season without a starting-QB-market-value extension? If a team is going to give up a 1st round and mid-round pick for the guy, they better be willing to sign him to a new contract, which kind of undercuts the plan to bring in the other starters in FA that you're discussing here.
  12. I'll argue that our DL isn't even stacked...we have what looks to be a solid starting front-4, assuming that Kyle comes back and Shaq can get healthy. Beyond that, I think that the 2 interior backups (Worthy and Washington) look like they can play snaps. If LorAx moves on in FA, we'll be in serious need of a 3rd EDGE rusher, though it does help that Washington can take some snaps on the EDGE in obvious run situations.
  13. I think they can make the postseason with Tyrod, and I don't see a ready replacement, so I'm thinking it makes the most sense to commit to him for the 2 years into which the team option would lock him. As to drafting a guy, well, I don't see any chance that either the veterans on the team or the coaching staff would be in a hurry to see a rookie supplant the starter.
  14. I can guarantee you that you're wrong. Trading Dareus causes the team to take a $33M cap hit...do people really STILL not understand how the cap works?
  15. 1) I agree that they need to keep Taylor, but this should not preclude them from bringing in another potential franchise guy 2) Lots to comment on here, but I'll keep it brief. Compare Gilmore's tackle numbers and coverage stats to the other top-5 corners in the NFL--he's equal or better in each category. To assume that a 6th round pick with very little experience can not only step into his role as the #1 corner, but be worthy of an extension (which the CBA doesn't allow him to get until after the 2018 season) is crazy talk--no offense. 3) The team definitely needs another starting WR, but again, that doesn't preclude them from evaluating the QB. He's leaving plays on the field routinely. 4) Oh stop. Woods may not be a #1, but let's not pretend that he's not a solid player. He'll get more than what's reasonable valuation on the open market, but I'd take him back in a heartbeat if it were at a reasonable rate--he runs crisp routes, has good hands, blocks well, and competes on every snap. 5) Praying is not planning. They need to pick up bodies at safety--they ought to hit the cap casualty market for a guy like Byrd or Bethea. 6) Drafting a QB is a no-brainer if they feel that a guy has franchise potential, but they shouldn't do it just for the sake of doing it. Optimize value--use your picks to get guys that offer long-term impact. 7) What Dareus needs more than anything is sound leadership from his HC 8) No question that they'll be going back to a 43 You mean cut him? No. First, he's a very, very good football player. Second, it would cost the team a $33M cap hit to cut him.
  16. And I likewise forgive you for not following this board at any point in the lead up to any draft since 2008, else you'd know the extent of the utter silliness of what you just said.
  17. OR... We've watched him a ton and--GASP--have a different opinion of him than you! I know, I know, seems impossible, but I assure you that its entirely true.
  18. Classic Bills fan logic: forget the premier back that's been near the top of the NFL for his entire career...give me the career backup former arena leaguer! Nope...he had the 10th highest success rate in the NFL last year http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/rb Can you name 1 such run from 2016? Please don't try to cite the Rams' game where Felton got in his way.
  19. I think Klein makes sense if they don't re-sign Zach. Ideally, I'd like to see Zach come back, Ragland drop 15 lbs, and see a mid-round pick spent on a coverage 'backer. Preston can move to backup/run-stopping specialist.
  20. He's right. PFF rankings are pure silliness. Just look at the reasons that guys are left off the list; they're pure rubbish.
  21. That's probably the plan, but they need to make sure that they draft a coverage LB like Alex Anzalone or Zach Cunningham early, or a sub-package LB like Jayon Brown or Charmeachealle Moore later
  22. Thoughts: Likes Cooper Kupp in his top 5 WRs Alex Anzalone in top 5 LBs Obi Melifonwu in top 5 Ss Dislikes Kizer as top QB Jabrill Peppers above Budda Baker Intriguing Cam Robinson as a guard Haason Reddick as a traditional LB My boy Adam Shaheen!
  23. Yes...I would draft someone in the 6th. I always condone drafting kickers and punters in the 6th and 7th rounds, since those guys are far less likely to make your team anyway.
  24. Sign me up for that right now. I'll grab a Jairus Byrd or Antoine Bethea from the cut list, re-sign Zach and LorAx, plus grab an athletic LB like Malcolm Smith or AJ Klein and call it an offseason.
