  1. The difference between you and I is that I watched every throw from his Wyoming career multiple times--I don't need to read someone else's scouting report and then look for traits that match it. You again are showing that you are married to your preconception--you've made definitive declarations about him and are invested in that outcome. That's a shame, because it probably prevents you from having any objectivity on the issue. I mean, you're here telling me that I've anointed him as the guy, when I've done nothing of the sort. I have, however, called out much of the board for their confirmation biases.
  2. Hah! So yes, it IS about his stats and not about points and winning? Spoken like a guy with an agenda, but that's not news. I thought when you said you hoped you'd be wrong about Allen that you'd be reasonable about him, but with every post you show that you're not ready to do that. I guess it makes sense given that you called him a terrible prospect. Of course, you then said you'd take him in the 3rd round, which is a fireable offense--any person that would spend any draft pick on someone they think is terrible is someone who's opinion needs to be taken with a mountain of skepticism. Nevertheless, I say to the community that it's time to shed the intellectual dishonesty about Allen. If you'd prefer that he fail so that you can be right just say so instead of setting arbitrary benchmarks that hold no real meaning. If you're determined to call him a franchise QB even if he shows that he isn't then just declare yourself an unabashed homer and be done with it. The rest of us will watch and see. If the team produces on offense and wins games then I'd like to think we'll be happy with it.

  4. So when Jacksonville finished top 5 in PPG last year with a team passer rating of 84, that was a figment of everyone's imagination? Or how about Baltimore scoring in the top 10 this year with an 84 rating? Nice way of dodging the question by the way
  5. That last paragraph is a microcosm of what's so mind-boggling about the Allen discussion. You care more about his passer rating and completion percentage than whether or not the team is scoring points and winning. If he's a 58% passer with an 89 rating and the team is scoring 28 PPG and goes 10-6 you'll still be ready to move on from him? If that's legitimately true, then your football team building priorities are way out of whack. No offense intended.
  6. I think Allison would've been well worth the 5th rounder I'd have spent on him
  7. He's a nice WR3, and a middling WR2. He's nowhere near stud territory--he's less productive than Zay Jones How both he and Geronimo Allison slipped through the cracks in that draft I'll never understand.
  8. So, sort of like KC did with Mahomes, LAR did with Goff, and Chicago did with Trubisky? Yes, that's the model. And like both LAR and Chicago, Buffalo is going to have to be willing to invest heavily--even if it means giving up premium draft picks via trade.
  9. If only we'd gone ahead and invested a 3rd round pick in him like I said--instead the whole league passed on him.
  10. Darn right it does. Everything they've done up to this point can be hung on the premise that they were working to get their guy at QB--one that both McDermott and Beane agreed upon. Now that they've identified their guy, it's time to show a commitment to putting a winning team on the field. A lukewarm approach to amassing talent won't fly this offseason. They better be prepared to get bold and aggressive
  11. I'm proud to have cheered you on for 13 years, Kyle. Best of luck and God bless as you move on to the next season of life. Thanks for all of your efforts on and off the field. You'll be missed
  12. As soon as you try to buttress that way-too-drawn-out recycled stuff with "he hasn't shown any improvement", you lose whatever traction you had built. I will never understand why folks simply can't be reasonable about this kid
  13. Not too many surprises in there. For me, Allen's biggest issue is that the game still moves too fast for him. He'll need to show improvement (which isn't to say he'll be all the way there) next season if he's to start hitting more tight-window throws. That, and he has to learn that it's okay to play the long game--he tries to do way too much. I get it; he was the entire offense at Wyoming, and it's no different here. Doesn't make it right.
  14. Cover 1 is great. Also give Matt Bowen (former Bills' safety) a follow on twitter--he does a lot of work explaining coverages, route concepts, etc. Lastly, there's just no substitute for All-22 film study. And I mean STUDY. Terminology and concepts are great starting points, but seeing for yourself how assignments play out in live action is the best way to learn.
  15. Happy holidays to you as well For Smith, he had a career-high 11 TDs in 2015, so he couldn't have been THAT bad Anyway, I think we can agree that it's unacceptable that Allen is the team's entire offense, and that it has to change if they want to be successful
  16. Yes, I expect a rookie from Wyoming to struggle in a timing-based offense more than guys with a half decade or more experience. That's not exactly news. And just for kicks: the 2016 niners also had Torrey Smith, who would be this team's WR1...and Kaep had 5 years in the league at that point
  17. Yes, I think Beane and McDermott have struggled mightily to identify skill position talent. And I challenge anyone to find me a worse group of pass catchers in the modern era. Their WR1 had the fewest yards of separation per snap and the highest drop rate--in the entire NFL. He was outright released mid season. The pass catchers on this team routinely struggle to secure pedestrian-type receptions. I mean, we're at the point where analysts are asking if our QB throws the ball too hard for them This is actually being asked about NFL WRs. You know my style; I'm not going to say something outlandish for the sake of propping up a player. And so when I say they're that bad, I don't say it lightly.
  18. As long as Levi doesn't have to tackle anyone, he's fine. He shows almost as much desire against the run as Gilmore, and not quite as much as Deion Sanders
  19. Of course he isn't the only one without an all pro (though Larry Fitzgerald is a former all pro). Allen is, however, the only QB surrounded by the worst group of pass catchers in the modern era.
  20. This conversation won't go anywhere until the absurd hyperbole stops People have been erroneously claiming for over a year that Allen is "horribly inaccurate". Simply not true. The ball goes where he wants it to go. In a critical situation, can he make the throw he needs to make? Yes. Will he miss throws more often than you'd like? Yes. Has it been a key factor in any Bills loss? Probably--I'd say his misses against the Jets hurt them in key times. But the myth of the erratic and wildly inaccurate Josh Allen passing game needs to die. Just some advice to the board: be intellectually honest about what you're seeing. If he makes a great throw don't get upset because it goes against a scouting report you read. If he makes a brutal throw don't discount it because you want him to be great.
  21. Wildly inaccurate It's always hyperbole around here.
  22. Why on earth would you make such an outlandish claim?
  23. Never confuse "hasn't started a game in the NFL" with "rookie". Having a full NFL offseason without having to adjust from college to NFL life is an enormous difference from having been in season-mode for 17 months.
  24. You're conflating willingness to run the ball with dependency on the run. They've always been willing; now they have no choice. If they can't run the ball, they're dead. They'd have scored zero points yesterday had Buffalo been able to stack up the run.
  25. Well, up until about 13 months ago, it was "put pressure on him". When they made their entire offseason focus the run game, things changed. NE is, and has been all season, a run-first team.
