  1. As I said in the game prep thread: Elandon Roberts is the best spy I've ever scouted
  2. There will be some element of that, as I'd fully expect the FA guys to be overpaid relative to production. That's just the nature of the game when limited availability meets a glut of cap space. I think you've struck the right note though: make sure that the guys you're overpaying are the highest value guys you can get for the money. Vis a vis: don't assume you're getting a pro bowl guard simply because you pay him that money.
  3. It's only a step back in the eyes of folks that weren't expecting what we saw. The Pats know how to game plan to stop talented teams, so what did we think they'd do to us, the least talented offensive team in football?
  4. What? Teams routinely overhaul their OL in a single offseason. The Dolphins did it 3 years ago. The Rams did it 2 seasons ago, the Colts did it last offseason. This team can easily improve the OL significantly by adding a starting quality LG and RT. There are multiple targets available at both positions in FA. If they did nothing more along the OL, going into next season with an OL that looked something like Dawkins-Spain-Bodine-Teller-Daryl Williams would be a significant upgrade. Could they/should they do more? Yes. I'd like to see them make a value move like flip a pick to Oakland for Osemele or add a center like Morse/Paradis, but there's absolutely no reason for them to claim that they can't completely overhaul the line in a single offseason.
  5. Oh man. That thread. I mean, the rule makes perfect sense: to prevent the offense from fumbling into the end zone on purpose when they can't reach the goal line. Case closed.
  6. It happened to New England in 2006. Jerricho Cotchery of the Jets got up from an apparent tackle and ran 70 yards untouched
  7. Yep Standard issue WR2 type catches in today's NFL
  8. Anyone that didn't see today's performance coming doesn't watch much football aside from Bills' games. NE was always going to play Man-Spy against us and force out pass catchers to make plays down the field. They failed in spectacular fashion, and so Allen did what Allen does: try way too hard to make things happen. Because, like it or not, he's the team's ENTIRE offense. He once again accounted for 86% of the team's offensive yardage and was victimized by brutal drops. Does that excuse his critical mistakes? Of course not. He had 2 bad INTs and a few bad misses. He bailed at least 3 clean pockets as well. Rookies gonna rookie yo. But anyone that doesn't see a difference between week 1 Josh Allen and Week 16 Josh Allen is blind.
  9. Anyone still want to tell me that the Pats aren't a run-first team? Stop the run, stop NE
  10. Based on what I've seen this year I'd be absolutely fine moving Edmunds to Sam and playing Stanford at MLB
  11. Does anyone still question the utter dearth of offensive talent on this roster?
  12. Between that and the dropped passes by Buffalo, this game may qualify for least surprising outcome of 2018
  13. He's easily the biggest cheap-shot artist in the league, and yes, that includes Burfict. He's the poster child for the NE-can-do-whatever-they-want theorists. He'll talk smack and taunt after EVERY play, and never get flagged, but if any opponent dare return the favor, you can be sure a 15-yarder is coming. It's shameful. Maybe @Chris66, @PatsFanNH, @Cmdjr85, or one of our other resident Pats fans can explain why this chronic a-hole behavior is acceptable, but Jerry Hughes can't smack Corbin Bryant--his own teammate--on the head after a TFL without being flagged for 15 yards
  14. No offense, but these posts that cite completion percentage with zero actual analysis reek of box score scouting without watching the game. I agree that I expect a rough outing today, but for me it's less about Belichick and more about NE just being a bad matchup for what little we do well offensively.
  15. Yes, their entire offseason approach involved transitioning to a run-first offense: Let go of Solder--a pass pro specialist--to add Trent Brown; primarily a run blocker Trade Brandin Cooks and let Amendola walk in FA Draft a guard with their highest pick Draft a RB with their other 1st rounder Sign Jeremy Hill
  16. That's why it's important to watch games, because you'd see how run-oriented their offense had become
  17. He stated no opinion; it can't be "incorrect". Also, based on NE's play as of late, I can see why you're so confident
  18. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but seems to me that if your "friend" acts that way, then the business exposed their numbskullery as opposed to creating it.
  19. You're utterly dug in that they shouldn't have drafted him? Ok, what QB should they have drafted? The "pocket passer" that is dead last in the league in passer rating from inside the pocket? Again I say: you are totally entitled to your opinion, but maybe you should relax a bit on the definitive declarations regarding Allen's supposed suckitide
  20. Yeah, that attitude makes no sense to me. The friends I've had have always been cool about it
  21. See that I've never understood. I've always just said "no thanks, but I'm happy for you and hope you do well". Never had an issue
  22. Pretty simple to identify good business versus scam. Is there a small, refundable investment, and zero purchase obligation afterwards? Is there a product to sell? Are all products fully refundable to customers? Do you, and only you, get the cash commissions from your sales? Does the benefit to your sponsor come only after you get paid, and not simply when you sign up? Does your sponsor have a contractual obligation to help you? Can you eventually out-earn your sponsor? Can you quit at any time without having to pay any exorbitant fees? If you answered "yes" to all of the above, then it's probably a legitimate business. If you answered "no" to ANY of the above, then it's probably a scam.
  23. Bill Belisith...love it
  24. As much as I've liked Josh's progress over the last month, I think we're in for a rough go on Sunday. Not because of the Belichick thing, but because NE can cover and rush the passer, and they have my boy Elandon Roberts, who can QB spy like nobody's business. His effort against Keenan Reynolds in the Houston-Navy game as a senior remains the single best performance I've ever scouted from a LB in the spy role. The makeup of their D is a tough matchup for our team.
  25. I'm assuming that 1 of the two "Zay beaten" plays was on the 3-and-out that started with the missed connection to Deonte on the deep ball? I was pretty disappointed with his effort on the play to which I think you're referring. Kind of waited on the ball, whereas attacking it might've drawn a Slay DPI (as it did on the following series) or even given him a chance to make a play on the ball. Other than that I agree
