  1. The OP asked for a great catch; that was a great catch. It wasn't an all-time great catch, but it qualifies.
  2. Because??? I mean, the only part of their team that's ahead of us is that they have 3 first round picks...which get later and later in the round by week.
  3. Anderson might already be that guy--he had a good game against him in New Jersey in 2017 too.
  4. Foster had a gem of a leaping grab in New Jersey on a Barkley 50/50 ball, but other than that I can't really remember one. It's at 5:30 on this video: https://www.buffalobills.com/video/bills-vs-jets-highlights-week-10
  5. He won't be out of work long.
  6. He's 1,500 rushing yards behind Thurman's career rushing total in 3 fewer seasons, despite playing 1/3 of that in a pass-happy era.
  7. Yup...all true. If Allen's words mean anything, then he's got the mental approach right. Of course, you know as well as anyone that actions (especially those in the offseason--with extra emphasis on a rookie QB's first offseason) speak far, far louder than words.
  8. Manning had a really solid rookie season, but yeah, he turned the ball over a lot. You know whose ball security was exceptional as a rookie? Andrew Luck. Scored 23 TDs with only 19 TOs...really impressive...but he only completed 54% of his passes, so BUST
  9. There's a fair point that a number of folks are making in this thread that I think deserves more discussion: right now, Allen is the team's ENTIRE offense. I mean, nobody else is creating offense consistently. It's him all by himself, with an occasional flash play for Isaiah McKenzie on a gimmick run. Consider that he's 3-5 as a starter (with the potential that he'd be 4-4 had he finished the Houston game) playing offense all by himself, and I think one might lean harder in one direction than the other.
  10. I usually look at TD:TO ratio for QBs as the key metric, and it's extremely rare to find a QB with a positive one. It's almost always going to be negative (and sometimes scary negative too) I mean, Trubisky's was 9:17 Goff was 6:12 Darnold and Allen are better, but not much, at 13:19 and 10:16, respectively
  11. You're right about that...certain players like Tre and Jerry Hughes definitely didn't have their best games
  12. Don't get ruffled; I didn't call anyone stupid...I said that your take was stupid. Hey, everyone has a stupid take every now and again; recover and move on...it happens. And you're still completely wrong. If the Jets' RB didn't score on 4th and goal, would Darnold still have made the plays that he needed to? If your answer is no, well then that totally negates the idea that Darnold did what was necessary to win. If your answer is yes, then you're tilting the board in Darnold's direction, because Allen got the offense in position to win the game had the ST unit made the 2 FGs that they missed. I also never said that Allen didn't make a stupid play with his first INT, but again, when you're upset, you're going to say things without thinking. Me, on the other hand, I know exactly what I wrote, which is why throwing mud at the wall is a bad approach for you to be taking with me. You're correct that Goff and Trubisky were not much better than Darnold or Allen. I'm the person that told you that Darnold and Allen are playing MUCH better football than either of those guys did as rookies. Here's a suggestion: pay attention to what you're reading and writing. Slow down. Take a breath. Relax. Make sure what you're saying is true, and that it makes sense. For instance, you said that neither Goff nor Trubisky were better than Darnold or Allen; I suspect you meant that they were indeed better, or else why say that when I already said it? The problem is that it's not true in any way, shape, or form. Trubisky was 4-8 as a rookie starter with a QBR of 31.6, 7 TDs, 7 INTs, and 2 rushing TDs with 10 fumbles. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TrubMi00.htm Goff was 0-7 as a rookie starter with a QBR of 18.9, 5 TDs, 7 INTs, and 1 rushing TDs with 5 fumbles. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GoffJa00.htm Darnold is 4-6 as a rookie starter with a QBR of 33.9, 12 TDs, 15 INTs, and 1 rushing TDs with 4 fumbles. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/D/DarnSa00.htm Allen is 3-5 as a rookie starter with a QBR of 55.1, 5 TDs, 9 INTs, and 5 rushing TDs with 7 fumbles. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleJo02.htm So like I said; take a break for a bit, re-assess, and then come back and we can pick this up again. Or not...either way is cool with me. Be well. I generally agree with most of that; the point is more that we need to be evaluating the QBs on a level playing field, and this dude here is not.
  13. Well, even though I think that the defense shoulders some responsibility, I think that they probably did enough if STs execute properly. I would be happy to...I go to an awesome church! Indeed--he made two really impressive throws to my former boy Robby Anderson (yeah, he's not my boy anymore now that he's revealed himself to be a scumbag)
  14. No, Darnold isn't awful...he's a rookie. This is what rookies look like...try watching the NFL occasionally. Believe it or not, these guys both look MUCH better than Goff and Trubisky did as rookies...but hey, when you need to bang on a keyboard and get out some frustration, sometimes you're going to go ahead and toss the facts out the window in favor of raw emotion. I get it, but it's stupid. Oh, and who was better yesterday? Neither. They both turned the ball over, they both missed opportunities, and they both put their team in position to win the game. If not for 2 missed FGs we'd be sitting here talking about how Allen got the job done. But hey, you do you man. Ah, so the coach should tell his rookie QB not to take any chances in a lost season when the kid's trying to learn? That would be unmitigated stupidity.
  15. Ladies and Gentlemen, Sam Darnold: CMP ATT YDS CMP% AVG TD LNG INT FUM QBR 2018 Regular Season 175 313 2,104 55.9 6.72 12 76 15 4 33.9
  16. I guess you forgot that they guy had 75 yards on 19 carries with a sprained ankle vs. Jax in the playoffs. Look, he's on the downside of his career, so he's lost a half-step, and he's playing behind one of (if not THE) worst run-blocking OL units in the game. What are you expecting?
  17. I actually think that they can get most, if not all, of that done in a single offseason if they're willing to spend the cap room that they have. There are a number of quality OLmen available in FA, so there's no excuse for not coming away with 2 new starters. You can definitely find a solid RB in the mid rounds, and given how few TEs actually produce in the NFL, there's no reason to make that a draft priority either. I'd say there's a reasonable expectation of finding a RB and TE that can contribute as rookies in rounds 3-4. The toughest gets will be WR1 and WR3. I'm fine with Foster as a fringe WR3 guy, and I like Zay as a WR2. I also think that McKenzie can be a nice gadget guy as well. They need to either overpay a guy like Golden Tate or give up the farm in a trade for a WR1. I guess what I'm saying is that it most certainly can be done if they're willing to give up the assets to do so; I'm just not sure that they are willing to give up those assets.
  18. Wow...that's eye-opening to say the least. Of course, I always say that the key to red zone defense is pressuring the passer, and this team hasn't been great at doing so without blitzing.
  19. The Jets and Bills each scored 3 points off turnovers No agenda here whatsoever Simple math will tell you that 2 missed FGs were the difference. Actually watching the game with no agenda would further tell you that horrific kickoff coverage was responsible for short fields on 3 scoring drives. STs were the #1 reason far and away. I want to like your posts, but the way you stretch to make every idiosyncrasy an Allen criticism really undermines your otherwise decent football takes. Did Allen play a great game? No; too many turnovers and missed opportunities. But the fact is that the defense blew 2 different 4th quarter leads and STs failed to convert 2 other scoring drives into the points that would've won the game.
  20. Having not seen the game, I will give @jrober38 the benefit of the doubt that he must be talking about a different play. Dude, you can not like Allen as a QB without stretching like this; there are plenty of plays to criticize...pick one of those.
  21. Josh is an exciting player that has a real shot to become The Guy. The team should do everything that they can to surround him with talent. They should also draft another QB at some point--you have to keep an iron in the fire in case of injury or lack of development
  22. Oh you know me well enough by now to know we're good! If we can't bust each other's balls at this point we're in real trouble Thanks for the well wishes! Have a great holiday and go everyone but NE Agreed. My point was more focused on the cap difference being inconsequential
  23. Gotta love the NE fans--the only pro bowler in their secondary is the weak link! The only corner that didn't get abused by Nick Foles is the weak link. If folks on this board judged by play and not emotions they'd see the obvious
  24. No worries--I think folks are forgetting that the team could have had Sammy here for 2018 at the same cap figure as KB has they not declined his option year.
