  1. Like I said: on name association alone
  2. Yodny is a MAN! I think he's a walk-in starter for sure, but your prediction would shock me
  3. Start back at my very first response to you in this thread, which was that I was with you until you made the Allen-Kizer comparison, which is ludicrous by pretty much every metric (yet somehow you've got me labeled as a passer-rating-only Rhodes Scholar of sorts, which is...interesting I guess?) If you can't grasp that, then we can't have a discussion, because that was my initial response. You followed with a novel that had very little relevance to that topic, and did more to disprove your comparison than to prove it. So like I said days ago: the best thing for this thread is for me to stop responding to you, because you've gone way off the beaten path here.
  4. You really do enjoy taking things out of context and then accusing others of doing the same, don't you? That's fine, but it makes it very difficult to have any type of real conversation. You said that Allen is horrific in the red zone. Go ahead and quantify that for us. He's not even in the bottom 5 in passer rating in the red zone, so how bad can he be? Instead of simply dropping a nebulous one-liner with absolutely zero supporting evidence, go ahead and substantiate it. I'm open-minded, but I'm not going to simply accept an "I said it so it must be true" argument. If you think he's horrific in the red zone, then show us the data. Instead, what you've done here is claim that all I'm interested in is passer rating, which really has no basis.
  5. No love affair at all; may he be roasted roundly and routinely I say. I just call 'em like I see 'em, and I always felt he was underrated by Bills fans. It's not surprising that he's getting the recognition now that he's playing for a league-darling.
  6. Overpay! Overpay all day! 2 years from now they'll look like slightly above average contracts, and the cap is only going up. There are no more than 2-3 players on this team that will need big money deals in the next 3 years, so spend away. Save me the draft picks for the expensive stuff like pass rusher, WR, and CB
  7. The counterpoint is that you can look at teams like the Bears and Rams, who scrap heaped their way to very solid OL play. Yes, I'm using hyperbole to make a point, but both teams have managed solid OLs without spending any high picks. Between the two starting 5's, the highest picks are Kyle Long and Roger Saffold--both were drafted as tackles and moved to guard. Aside from them, it's a bunch of FA pickups and day 2/3 picks. Same story with the Seahawks. Ifedi is the highest pick, and was drafted as a tackle (who was moved to guard and then back to tackle due to injuries). Other than that, FA pickups and a trade. Speaking of trades, is now a good time to renew my plea for Buffalo to ship a mid-round pick to cap-strapped Philly for Jason Peters? He can finish his career how it was started: as a RT in Buffalo.
  8. He was inactive; his leaving at halftime is a non-issue IMO. His friction with his QB is the bigger deal to me. And I do think that the Poyer thing would cause an interesting locker room dynamic. The leadership of the team would have to be convinced that they could make it work.
  9. Did you see his face when he signed with NE? Same face. That's Gilmore. He's just a melancholic dude.
  10. Could you quantify that for us? I'd be interested to see the numbers
  11. If Gordon is healthy, and their run D comes to play, then yes, they can. But so many DCs do silly things when the game is on the line. Just look at how close they came to losing today. If they get ultra conservative on D against NE in the 4th quarter, they'll be going home.
  12. Well, the draft-your-own-instead approach is fine, up to a point: who in the draft do we believe will be close to the player that Brown is, and when should we expect him to perform at that level? I don't expect you (or me, or Beane for that matter) to know that...and that's the point of trading. Brown is, for better or for worse, a known commodity. He's a top 3 NFL WR, and 2-4 seasons of that to help your rookie QB develop would be more worth it to me than taking an educated guess on a rookie
  13. Well, when you present data that show little-to-no decline, claiming that they are definitive in showing a decline, then I assume we're in persuasive essay speech. Especially since you declared that he's squarely in the "don't pay him" age bracket He can't exactly be below his best when he scored TDs at a career-best pace.
  14. In truth, it's entirely possible that we've seen his best, but claiming some kind of decline is imminent is crazy when the dude caught 15 TDs and had 1,200 yards receiving.
  15. Where to start? Rookie QB for whom the game still moves too fast Lousy pass catchers No running game No veteran leadership on offense
  16. Thanks! She's actually been a fantastic baby this far--SOOOOO much easier than either of my twins were. Both were brutal babies--screamed all night every night for 4 months straight. She's just reeling from her first round of immunizations is all
  17. My 2 month old had me up all night, so my patience level for numbskullery is at a relative low
  18. He got along with Shady--our resident drama king--just fine
  19. To me, the big difference between drafting pass rusher high, but not necessarily OL guys is that I largely expect it to be the QB and OC's job to beat the pass rush. Note that I'm not saying to go scrap heaping on the OL; I'm saying FA is my preferred route.
  20. Ah, so you expected that a personal attack would be met congenially? Well, that's stupid. My point was clear, and as I said multiple times, I see no reason to conclude that Brown won't remain one of the 3 best WRs in football for at least another 2 seasons. As for my posts, if you don't like them, don't read them. Ignore function to the rescue there I also never claim to be smarter the NFL talent evaluators. But I also am willing to put my evaluations out there for others to pick apart, so when I get it right I'm not afraid to say so. And when I get it wrong I claim that too.
  21. Sure I'm only saying that you don't need to spend a top 10 pick on a guard in order to get a good one
  22. Yeah, why not? Very few teams feature TEs anymore, so you can get by with someone like him as your TE1
  23. No, you just can't read. I asked you why felt so certain that you'd seen his peak. Your answer was that he had all of his career highs 4 years ago. That's not true as I pointed out, but instead of acknowledging that you decided to get personal (and political), which was a really dumb idea. But everyone does dumb things every now and then, so don't fret.
  24. Says the guy that claimed his career highs came 4 years ago when he had more TDs this season than in any other year of his career. Oh, and by the way, there's a whole forum dedicated to lousy political takes, so usher yourself on over there if you want to take that route. And next time, try making a true statement before you throw darts. That's why I said to trade the 9th pick and our 2nd rounder for AB and the 20th pick. Basically works out to two 2s
