Im the same way. I wasnt a huge fan in the 80s, but generally knew what was going on. I caught on in the attitude era and watched ECW a bit a rode it into 2004-ish until it seemed to get a bit stale and repetitive. I did try to watch a few times and just cant. I did catch a build-up to wrestlemania and saw CM Punk and thought that this dude had it and was the one 'charismatic' wrestler who brought me back to the era that managed to hook me. His departure from WWE was right then and there though and I was like 'figures'. I have tried to like it numerous times. I just cannot get into anything they are selling. 3-hour Raw episodes on Monday? good god who has time for that? Not to mention uninteresting and boring. I also dislike the huge push for the women's division. Dont really care, although I admit the 1 Wrestlemania I saw's best match was Charlotte Flair vs someone... but they took bumps way tougher than any of the male wrestlers. My hope is AEW gets some of these cult figures like Punk, Bryan, and Wyatt and takes a huge chunk out of WWE... Then has the follow through to get some good writers and managers to do it all the correct way and give people what they want. That would force McMahon to respond by pushing the envelope again. Like hopefully we are past the point when they get threatened or slip and they have The Rock appear to lob a bunch of his catch phrases out one time, or bring back zero-charisma Brock Lesnar for a boring premium PPV match that he will win and then disappear for another year or 2.

I just watched the Woodstock 99 doc on HBO. It was good, although I do feel like it missed a lot of stuff and would have liked a bit more from attendees as opposed to some of the unnecessary and obviously cynical media members used. It was a nice look back to the times, and also shined a lens on some interesting cultural takes I had not thought about. One of my biggest regrets was not attending, as I had a few opportunities to go and I was a 20 year old (about 2 weeks from 21). Watching this though makes me feel like I may have been fortunate not to go. I know I would have showed up with like $40 and maybe a tent, and been in serious difficulty with the heat, sanitation issues, sleep deprivation, etc...

Nothing wrong with bandwagon fans. Im sure the Bills will accept any one of them. I get when fan bases try to reject 'new' or bandwagon fans when things are going well. Especially here in Buffalo. I remember this constant debate when the Sabres had their runs in 06 and 07. If we were in NYC and Mets fans and they were good for a few years and suddenly we were seeing people who put their Pinstripes in their closets to buy a Mets t-shirt, then it would be a bit annoying. Buffalo teams need all the support/money they can get.

A few people come to bat for the guy in the white shirt after the fact. There is a girl informing the security that she hit him first, followed by another guy who says she hit him first and calls on someone to find his glasses. This could be a clue that this guy wasn't a monster before the camera was rolling.

From what is seen here, not sure what to feel. It seems clear that this woman is trying everything she can to start a fist fight. The boyfriend/husband guy's body language in the beginning is strange. It appears like he is trying to watch the game, and only gets up when it looks like this Lennox Lewis guy is throwing with his girl. I feel bad for the boyfriend/husband. It seems like he wasn't big on starting the conflict. He only got up when he had to, and it looks like he suffers a major concussion... only to have that prize of a woman angrily growl at him to sit down at the end. With only this information available, and without knowing what Lenox Lewis might have done to attract her ire, it looks like the woman is pretty awful.

Is entertaining pro wrestling going to come back? This feels like a hogan/nwo moment for the aew. Daniel Bryan also rumored to be joining. I haven't watched wrestling for years and find wwe unwatchable now (I've tried). Seeing this pop with Jim Ross announcing pumps the adrenaline a bit. I immediately checked the aew broadcast schedule

The problem with the 'tank' wasn't the actual 'tank'/tear down. It was the failure to do so without any sort of focused and consistent management. They started out with Regier and Ruff. Fired Ruff early in a shortened season, after an extended lockout where you could have enjoyed better preparedness. Regier hired someone completely unqualified in Ron Rolston. That seems to be when the 'tank' was adopted by the team Then they fired Regier and Rolson in November of a season, blowing that previous offseason. Hiring a green President with no GM (but had Craig Patrick in his corner as a consultant), and a crowd-pleaser in Nolan as coach Then, a few months later, a silly scuffle (I have heard there was constant friction between Kim and LaFontaine that blew up) you President resigns. The steering wheel was handed to a GM who appears to be on the Spectrum and clearly had little to no people skills and just needed to be out scouting. I feel like LaFontaine and Patrick could have/would have served as a counter-balance to Murray and that was the plan. Then, the quick send off of Ted Nolan (who actually had the tank teams fighting on the same side against a common enemy (the tank/fans). Going all-in for Babcock, and settling for Dan Bylsma who came with many warning signs. Held onto Murray too long. He cleared out the embarrassment of riches they had amassed during the tank and had little to show for it. Terrible trades and asset management. Also exposed the new franchise players to guys like Evander Kane, Bogosian, and Lehner right out of the box. Murray thought that instead of snorting coke, finding women, and playing video games, the young guys would follow the boring married guys like Gionta and Gorges. There was always this disjointed thing, with the smell of dysfunction all over it. Also worth mentioning they decided to dump one of the actually popular things in the organization in Ted Black for Russ Brandon. Since Murray, the Pegulas have rejected experience and seeking help. They have gone with first timers, circular management structures, and they have just spun their tires deeper in the mud, every day finding a new rock-bottom.

I do believe there will be a somewhat amicable deal for a stadium before too long, and hopefully the Bills have a nice stretch here and the Pegulas foster a sustainable franchise that competes. I have heard from a decent source that the Sabres are for sale

The Sabres have not had a 'big' game or a game that has meant anything for 10 years. The life has been sucked out of the arena. Not to mention, IMO the NHL product itself has gotten very boring. The Pegulas have had a habit of hanging onto bad management/coaching well past the time it is clear they need to move on. At this point, the booing really gets bad. people are expressing displeasure with management.

The Sabres of the past 10 years make the Bills' drought years appear like the Golden Years. Its unreal to take a step back and litigate how poorly that franchise has been managed, especially in light of how it was in really good/decent shape when they took it over (on and off the ice). All the team needed was a fresh Team President and replace the generally stale and past their expiration date GM and Coach, and they have made literally every wrong decision since. Harbor Center is great, but it has been abandoned to a degree. Much of their website is full of broken links. There isnt much information on there (for instance, if you click on a tournament scheduled for a few weeks, a month, or the rest of the season for more info, it says that you should check back later for more information). The Academy of Hockey has been completely abandoned or something. 716 is changing hands, the Labatt House hasnt opened since the pandemic, a lot of their stuff down there has been poorly managed. Also, a lot of the bad press of generally draconian measures for an absolute bloodletting of Sabres employees apparently due to cost (who weren't replaced). Timing it with the report that the morale at the organization was terrible and the employees were given a handout with the famous "preserving our lifestyle" nonsense. Without them, it is likely the Bills would not be here anymore. I get that. I appreciate that and don't lose focus. The Bills seem to be run completely different than the hockey team, but I also fear if/when we get our Linda Bogdan moment. However, I understand people's frustration from this family when a report comes out that they want fully-public $1.5 billion to fund their stadium, along with thinly veiled 'threats' (although I haven't seen anything too concerning to me). I personally havent complained because nothing concrete has come out of the negotiations at all (and I have been on board with the Orchard Park option). I knew this step would be awkward due to the Pegula's unwavering commitment to Buffalo, but also wanting public money at this juncture. As far as the Sabres go. I went from watching probably 95-98% of all their games from about 1987 - 2013, to last season probably watching a (1) combined full game. I was a long-term season ticket holder who cancelled the day the general manager appeared to celebrate that things were great because the team 'was in a position to be in games'. They have completely ruined the Sabres and the NHL for me. I cannot take any pride in this organization at all.

I have to also say that the Bills fan 'experience' has tamed down a TON since about 15 years ago. I sit in the end zone below the scoreboard too. Fights do happen, but they have become much more uncommon and its very, very rare we see anything more than a couple dudes scrap for 20 seconds and get removed. They stopped allowing visibly drunk people in the gate. They have the text line. The EC Sheriff's presence is like 3x what it was in 2006-ish and prior.

Yeah, in the case of this football team, "Buffalo" is a general reference to the region/WNY. It isn't an accidental slip on their covert plans to actually build the stadium downtown when literally all information points to Orchard Park

1991, the bills were regarded as the class of the nfl, probably going to their eventual showdown with the 49ers. It was the greatest season in bills history, quite possibly. That was the peak of those teams. Last season reminded me a lot of 1991, and there is a feeling that this team has not peaked. Also, mind you, the afc was measurably weaker than the nfc in the bills' glory years. The nfc had dominated the superbowl for many years, and most weren't even competitive. 2 seasons ago. That's when I lost bbfs. They clearly were a competent team, well prepared, well managed, and had the athletes to execute. I lost my perpetual fear that they were going to self inflict losing from the jaws of victory. I really want that home playoff game in front of a sellout crowd. That is the one thing I fantasized about throughout the drought years

Well, you may be trying to get a lot of the Canadian fans (or potential fans) to stay there 'on campus'. Then you get a number of shopping options right there with some eateries and such. Plus, with sports-gambling, who knows what they are going to have on the premises (or what they can have). Out of town non-canadian fans too would likely go there and stay. You could have some real hustle and bustle and fun for those 8-10 weekends the Bills play... Kind of a ritzier version of the RV-lot. But yeah, you would need a hook for other dates and more of a constant flow. Let's say they can nab 10 decent draw events over the course of a typical year (might be generous, but who knows what they can get).
