What about Demetrius Bell?

We have ruled out this Melvin Ingram character? I don't pay that close attention. -
What about Demetrius Bell?
metzelaars_lives replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd rather go into the season w/ Hairston as our LT than having absolutely zero pass rush like we did last season. Hairston performed admirably last year at LT and there's no reason to think he wouldn't approve upon that. I do agree though, that that's what's going to happen (Bell gets a big contract and we draft a LT). We better sure as hell address DE in free agency then. And I kind of think we will do that too. -
All Peyton Manning, all the time!

Maybe not with the players, but there were several stretches where the fans would've voted Reich as the starter hands down, most notably after the Rams Monday Night game. It happened every single time Kelly got hurt and Reich came in and had a good game. -

Same reason Randy Moss and Warren Sapp slipped... -
Obviously. There are only two all-pro safeties in the league every year. Period. I'll tell ya what- the way he was playing the first half of last year, George Wilson was playing at an all-pro level. Not second NFC pro bowl alternate who gets a phone call because no one else felt like playing. Not to mention, didn't Byrd get like one all-pro vote this year or something? Whitner would have unquestionably been the third best safety on our team last season.

Are you ready for Wednesday Night Football?
metzelaars_lives replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. Who watches the president's speech at his national convention? It's kind of a big deal, I don't care what party you're affiliated with. Am I the only one on here who would be watching both the speech as well as the football game? Meaning this is a good thing? -
Forbes : Most Miserable Sports Cities
metzelaars_lives replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This list is ridiculous. How miserable it must be to be a Phoenix sports fan? Are there even Phoenix sports fans? Buffalo and Cleveland need to be 1 and 2, I don't care what Bob Feller's Indians or Otto Graham's Browns did. And Denver on this list? What? -

The Official RGIII thread
metzelaars_lives replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because if he falls to 4 the Browns won't have to give away anything. And rest assured, they would take him at 4. If anyone REALLY wants the guy, then any team, including the Bills, can make it happen (see: Ricky Williams) -
First off, Vonnegut is my all-time favorite author. God Bless You Mr. Rosewater is my favorite book of his. I guess that was just my commentary on how people predicting who the Bills are going to draft really does nothing for me, because they're not going to draft them anyway. I'm sorry to be blunt. I am the biggest Bills fan in the whole world, but beyond the first round, it's simply not worth my time to speculate. I desperately wanted the Bills to take Gronkowski in the 2nd round two years. Where did that get me?

Cornerback and LT Situation
metzelaars_lives replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is your name Estelle Getty, yet you have a picture of a seemingly random obese woman who is not Estelle Getty? Am I missing something? If your name was Estelle Getty and you had a picture of her from the Golden Girls, or Mannequin for that matter, it would make perfect sense, but I am at a loss. -
Keep or Cut - Drayton Florence
metzelaars_lives replied to Danny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The bottom line is this- a free agent in Florence's class is gonna cost the same as he's already making anyway. Maybe if they have some semblance of a pass rush this year, he won't look so bad. As your nickel corner, he's absolutely fine. -
Do we give Clausen a shot?
metzelaars_lives replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cam Newton may have had the greatest rookie season in the history of American Football. I'm not saying, "Yes, git r' done Buddy," but I think it would be foolish to write the guy's career off altogether. -
I like it. Seems to drop a lot of passes, but you make a compelling case. What in the world is the deal with your avatar/screen name combo?

Ralph Wilson is a Genius
metzelaars_lives replied to BigBallzMcgee's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Then don't say "52 years." In two of those 52 years, they won the Championship. It speaks to his credibility. I wouldn't make that error in a post on here, let alone an article that he obviously put some time into. He's a young kid, what do you expect? Probably never even heard of Jerry Butler. No, I agree with virtually everything he says. -

For one, I disagree with his contention that the Bills haven't won a Championship in their 52 years as a franchise. -

He's turning into the Bert Blyleven of the Football HOF. He's going to get in eventually and when he does, it will be tainted for me. P.S. He does NOT deserve to get in before Cris Carter. Not even close. Tim Brown, probably. And P.P.S. is anyone else absolutely blown away by the fact that Cortez Kennedy is in the HOF and Cris Carter is not??? Like Crazy Eddie's prices, it's insane!

Tackling the "we need a LT" myth
metzelaars_lives replied to D2K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love it. So you're saying there is a possibility that someday Chris Hairston develops into a guy who will be capable of being an average NFL starter at the less important of the two tackle positions. What a vote of confidence. I would say he was already a starting caliber LEFT TACKLE as a rookie and there is a CHANCE he develops into an elite one. Another poster who falls into the "completely dismiss the numbers the offensive line helped put up last year and attribute it all to Fitz's magical quick release powers and oh yeah, Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller must literally be the two best RB's in the league" category.
