  1. Why has this thread gone to page 3?? Yes. Of course. Who wouldn't? Are you insane? Done. Topic closed.
  2. Talking about Duke Fame: "We had to apologize for him with our set. People were still booing him when we were on the stage." Greatest quote in move history? Perhaps that statement in of itself is as hyperbolic as the original post. Perhaps not. At any rate, this Bills team is absolutely very likeable right now but may not be by about week 8 if they're not living up to the very lofty expectations we've created for them.
  3. Awesome Awesome thread. Keep it up!
  4. I live in Denver. There is a huge Bills bar right in the middle of downtown that sounds awesome, but it's actually kind of cheesy. We go there for the opener every year cause it's a riot and there will literally be 200 Bills fans there easy, but after that we watch them all at a friend's house. I like to be able to hear everything and pause and rewind if necessary. Plus I'm flying home for the opener and unless they completely suck, I'm going to the Houston game. And I made me a vow to the moon and stars, if the Bills make the playoffs, I will be there, I don't care where it is.
  5. Of course that's true. I'm not rooting for them any less. But to the people who say, "I don't care if they wear pink as long as they win," well understand there are some of us who appreciate sports uniforms. I love NHL jerseys from the 80's. I love the old Bucs orange uniforms. I love the fact the Orioles went old school again. It's just a part of the game that some of us appreciate. If you can look at a Minnesota North Stars jersey and tell me you can't appreciate how sweet it is, then maybe this thread isn't for you.
  6. Apparently the Packers aren't wearing those ridiculous collars. I'm an old school dude. I think unis were the best in the 1980's. Sometimes I realize teams have to change their duds- Pats and Bucs being good examples (although I think old school will come back someday and the trend will be to revert to a simpler look). But nothing pisses me off more than change for the sake of change. Those white collars look absurd. Who are the ad wizards (Seinfeld/SNL reference) who think they look better than last year? I hope people aren't going out and buying these things if they already have last year's Reeboks. My George Wilson jersey I got last year is just fine with me. Maybe I'm just getting old.
  7. Why did the Bills wear white dress shirts with the collars open under their uniforms last night? Other than that I didn't see anything remarkably different about the new uniforms. But I would definitely like to see them not wear those anymore. Or at least button up the collars for next game.
  8. Wrong. Go back and watch the Oakland New England games from last year.
  9. I don't care how many sacks he gets as long as he stays healthy beacuse if he does and he occupies two blockers most every play, then Mark Anderson is going to get 15 sacks. And that's a promise. 229 pages huh? Who broke that story hours before any news outlet?? I can't remember.
  10. OK, here it goes... For one, there no way our secondary is just barely better than our linebackers. I would put our Safety pairing up against most any in the league and I think we have good depth at cornerback finally. Linebacker is a MAJOR area of concern. I have the offense almost identical to yours except I don't think there's room for a 9th OL, I think Young and Brown will both be practice squad material, as I think they feel comfortable with Urbik at Center in the event of an emergency. On Defense, I think they may only keep 8 DL and cut Edwards for financial purposes. I think McKillop will make the team over Carder. I think they will keep McGee and only 3 safeties (give me a break, Bryan Scott can play Safety if he has to), so 9 DB's also. I think they keep John Potter. So I guess I have one guy left then huh? It will come down to Sam Young/Colin Brown/Tank Carder/Troup/Heard That's all I got.
  11. You guys are crazy. The preseason hasn't even started yet. You're basing this off of what? 7 practices worth of Chris Brown's 3-minute highlight reels on buffalobills.com? Hagan is a lock? Maybe he's slightly ahead of him at this point, but by no means a "lock." Marcell Dareus is a lock. Let everything play out.
  12. Thurman Thomas is a significantly greater all-time RB than Jim Kelly is an all-time QB, period end of story. You say people forget how good Kelly was- I say that statement applies a lot more to Thurman. He led the league in all-purpose yardage 3 YEARS IN A ROW (not to mention he owns an NFL MVP). Jim Kelly does not own any statistic that jumps off the page like that. Now being Bills fans, we understand Kelly's value as the true leader of that team and get caught up in his mystique, his commitment to Buffalo and keeping the Bills in Buffalo, etc. (as do I). But being as objective as humanly possible, you have to look at the numbers and the numbers do not lie. We can agree to disagree, but I think Thurman deserved to be a first-ballot guy and Kelly a 2nd. I will stand behind what I said. There is no doubt Curtis Martin is a HOF'er, probably deserved of being first-ballot. However, never for one second in his career did he strike fear into his opponents the way Thurman did in his prime.
  13. The fact that Cris Carter isn't in the hall of fame yet is a complete and utter joke. With MLB, you know what a hall of famer is and isn't, but with the NFL, they are so incredibly inconsistent with respect to who gets in and who doesn't. Cortez Kennedy before Cris Carter? What? Curtis Martin is like a Bert Blyleven- a guy who was fortunate to stay healthy and play long enough to compile impressive stats, but not someone who would necessarily strike fear into their opponents. I firmly believe Carter is the second best modern-era WR of all-time. My top 5: 1. Rice, 2. Carter, 3. Largent, 4. Harrison, 5. Moss/Owens. Also: Jim Kelly was a first-ballot HOF'er and Thurman Thomas was a second-ballot HOF'er. Those should've been reversed.
  14. I'm as guilty of it as the next guy, but... Who doesn't want to see what happens with the QB situation in NY? Granted it's more like reading People magazine than actually following the NFL, but I dare someone to tell me they CAN'T WAIT to see how Jets fans and the media react when Sanchez, under enormous pressure, throws 3 INT's in week 2?? The camera shots of Tebow on the sideline, the close-ups of Rex Ryan and Sanchez- it's going to be so awesome.
  15. I agree 100%. I heard that in DC, Mike Shannahan hired a local rapper to come in and translate the playbook for RG III because he couldn't understand anything unless it was translated into urban slang for him. Being that he's regarded as so unintelligent and everything.
  16. Wow, so many of them incorporate religion into half their twits. I don't get it.
  17. You're smarter than that. Right? The 2000? Ravens had one of the best defenses in the history of football and won a Super Bowl laregly depstite Dilfer at QB. If the Bills win the Super Bowl (can't believe I'm participating in this thread), then Fitzpatrick is going to have to play an enormous role.
  18. I'm all about cream pies. I'm am the biggest Bills optimist I know and even I have zero expectations that Merriman stays healthy and contributes this year.
  19. Well if the Tonawanda News says it's so... FWIW though, I am inclined to agree with the writer.
  20. Need a link. That can't be true.
  21. I agree completely. One thing that baffled me about last year was that through the first 6-7 games they were using the wildcat consistently and it WAS WORKING. He didn't break any big gains, but the entire defense knew what he was doing and he still gained 3, 4, 5 yards every single time, which on 3rd down is invaluable. It was almost fool proof. He averaged 4.4 yards a carry last year. And you can say, well Freddie and CJ both averaged more than that, what's the point of keeping him? Well, not if they were directly snapped the ball and the whole defense knew it was coming, they wouldn't. And then inexplicably, they completely abandoned it halfway through the season. And of course, people are like, "he sucks, he's useless, the wildcat's useless" and it makes me wonder how close a lot of you are actually watching these games. THE WILDCAT WORKS. Not in the sense that it's gonna catch people offguard anymore, but somehow it's a surefire way to pick up a few yards and pretty much never lose yardage. Especially with a Brad Smith back there. And they're gonna use it again this year too so deal with it. Metz
  22. Agreed, 10 is the magic number 9 times out of 10 in the recent AFC.
  23. I realize this thread isn't going anywhere, but what the hell. It's playoff berth not "birth." You're not being born into the playoffs.
