You’ve watched more film on him than I have, so I’ll say my biggest attraction to him is as a mauler in the run game. But I can’t vouch for his overall fit here, like i said you would be a better judge of that than me. I just want to add some toughness for those bad weather games where we need to smash in the trenches. So if not Cody, who do you think would be a good fit here in the second in terms of OL fit? Personally, I think if either of the 2 LBs Sanders or Simpson makes it to 59, that would be our most likely pick over OL, I’m just not confident they will.

I love Mauch, he’s a mauler and I think has major potential. I don’t think he will last long in the 2nd round though. Then again, this draft has been hard to predict, so who knows. I’d love to land him or one of the LBs Sanders or Simpson

Im definitely happy we took the best guy. I admittedly thought there was very little chance we would take a TE, but that is also partly because I figured both Kincaid and Mayer would be gone and we were looking at someone like Washington. Im excited to hear how Beane spoke about him and that it sounds like there is a bigger plan for him than just a second TE. So looking forward to seeing how this all comes together on the field this year. Love getting Allen more weapons, now let’s get him some more protection too as the icing on the cake We struggled against more teams than that. Either way, it’s a new year with new pieces. So we will see how Dorsey evolves, he was bad in several key areas as a rookie OC.

We had noticeable drops in efficiency and points scored from the year before. Plus last year, the first half of the season was better than the second half. Everything was harder for the offense last year than it was the year before. Even Diggs, Allen, etc have all talked about how much more the offense struggled in the second half how things were just harder.

Totally agree. Come week 1 I’ll be amped. This time of year, still coming off last season and haven’t seen any new looks yet as camp hasn’t started. Truth is, Dorsey has several new toys, not just Kincaid. I think Sherfield and Harry are nice additions and hoping Shakir is ready to take over the slot. We could also still draft a WR too

Yeah, if Dorsey figures out how to utilize our weapons, the offense is gonna be a nightmare to defend. But...my thing with Dorsey is last year he failed to utilize our RB's as pass catchers despite Beane drafting one in the 2nd and trading for one in Hines mid season. He also failed to get Knox more involved when we needed help as our slot production was hurting the offense. And with the slot position under performing, he didn't really try and get Shakir more involved either despite some positive flashes. That for me was the biggest area he needed to grow into year 2 at...utilizing our personnel more effectively and more regularly in the offense. So fingers crossed he finds ways to get all these guys touches. Lets not forget about Sherfield, Shakir, and Harty too...these guys can potentially bring a lot to the offense. And we still need to get the run game more involved too so its not all on Josh Allen. I would feel a lot better if we had a more proven OC, but hey, it was just his first year, hoping he takes a big step this year as an OC. Because he also needs to be better in the redzone and in game adjustments.

No he said he had already had a trade in place to trade down if Kincaid was gone. That was the point, and no reason to say that if not true. And it was clear Kincaid was the last player with a first round grade on the board by anyones measure, which Beane said was true for his board as well.

Hey if we can get Kincaid enough targets to get that many receptions, then great. I don't see how we get Knox, Diggs, Davis, our RB's, and whoever is in the slots targets and still get Kincaid that many receptions though. Just a lot of mouths to feed. I was just saying he is going to get most his production playing more like a WR than a TE is all.

You were wrong on almost your entire mock. And were even wrong about Kincaid lasting to 27, something several of us thought was unrealistic. We had to move up to get him. But because the player you guessed on for the Bills ended up on the Bills (differently than how you mocked though), you are running around all these threads acting like whiney child chastising anyone who dared not agree with your almost entirely wrong mock draft. Bottom line was that Kincaid is not supplanting Knox as the starting TE though, which was what I was objecting to that you had originally said. Beane even said, Kincaid is not being brought here to block, he is gonna be used more like a receiver than a TE while Knox remains as the taking the traditional snaps at TE. They won't really be playing the same position is the point.

Kudos for listing Kincaid first, you definitely had that part right that he would be the BPA on Beanes board if he was there. And I don't think there was much doubt Kincaid would be BPA at 27, but I think most (myself included) never believed Kincaid would reach us with teams ahead of us like Detroit, Packers, Chargers, Vikings, and Cowboys that could have all easily gone TE. However, Beane said none of the other guys on your list were in consideration and he was trading back if Kincaid was gone and that Kincaid was the only one left with a first round grade. So for me, its just kinda weird to take a victory lap on someone being chosen off a list that mostly had wrong players on it. But I will give you the kudos for at least having Kincaid listed first, which was accurate.

My biggest want is Cody Mauch, but I don’t think there is any chance we get him without a sizeable trade up as I expect him to go early in the 2nd. But you never know, draft has been unpredictable. Either Simpson or Sanders would be a nice get, or maybe Downs at WR too. Branch or Porter Jr also would be sweet, but both should go early in the 2nd.

Knox has 15 TDs the last 2 seasons despite only averaging 68 targets. He has the highest catch rate on the Bills too. And he’s a very good blocker. if they gave him the same targets as the TEs ahead of him he would have the production. You can’t catch what isn’t thrown to you. Kelce had 2.5X more targets thrown his way. Kittle had poor stats when Jimmy G was QB this year and was more a blocker cuz Jimmy was a statue. Once purdy brought mobility in, they released Kittle more and he had a bunch of big games with Purdy. Knox is our starting TE, in the traditional sense. Kincaid is not going to be blocking and will release and be a receiving weapon. He literally can’t do what Knox does as a blocker. So Kincaid is not supplanting Knox, they won’t be used in the same way.

Literally my same feelings. I’ll remain cautiously optimistic, but yes all my concerns 100% stem with Dorsey making him a big enough part of the offense. If he succeeds at that, then this could be a major weapon. If he doesn’t then we have $13m a year in Knox and 1st and 4th in Kincaid not returning enough value in Dorsey’s offense. But IMHO Kincaid was the BPA at 27, so I feel good we took the talent.

Huh? What does Knox draft slot matter? Only fans think about that. Come Football time, where Knox was drafted 4 years ago is irrelevant. And they just gave Knox $13m per. And he is the superior blocker. Knox will be TE1, Kincaid will be TE1.5 who will be used more as a big slot than replacing Knox as a TE.

I think he means who Knox is today…15 TDs the last 2 seasons. Don’t get me wrong, that poster is still wrong. Kincaid has a better receiving arsenal, Knox is more of a complete TE (very good blocker)

When we jumped the Cowboys I knew it was Kincaid, cuz that was only reason to do that. And based on BPA, he is the right pick based on the board. I felt he was the best player still on the board overall. I would have been happy with Anton too given Brown is still a big question mark. I really wanted Addison but wasn’t surprised when he didn’t get past Vikings and felt he was gonna be someone we would have had to trade up for. Love Kincaid the talent, just hope Dorsey is better at incorporating talent into the offense this year. Last year he struggled to use Knox, Cook, Shakir, Hines, etc at times we could have really used more involvement from them.
