  1. Someone made a good point about November and December weather in Buffalo. Lindell is a great precision guy, but the new rules make the most effective kickoff technique to kick it back through the endzone. Lindell is able to drop it within the ten, but while that would have once been effective, now, not so much. To me, nothing has cemented tne importance of having a second kicker in the wings than the godawful attempts we saw last year when Lindell went down.
  2. Would I like to him him taken? Yes. Do I think it's going to happen? No. First, I think the people who have talked about Chan/Nix avoiding players with character issues have been spot on. Lynch is a very talented RB, and he was let go because he was trouble. Now that he's getting suspended again and the Bills have the Jackson/Spiller combo I would say things worked out for the best there. Next, I would have to talk about his asking price. If there is indeed a bidding war I'm not sure I would want us to win. What the Bills need is for someone very talented to come in and play #2 receiver. I'm pretty confident about our depth: Stevie is a good #1, Nelson is a very solid slot man, Hagan is looking like he's found a home and Graham, defying all expectations we had of him on draft day, looks like someone we can groom into a #2. But I'm really not sold on Jones as our #2 and would be very happy to find someone who we can trust to stretch the field. Is Harvin the kind of guy who can do that? That alone should preface any bidding. Next, is he looking to be dealt because he's unhappy as he's being used or because he wants more money? Last I checked, he was making under a million a season. That's not bad, even if we give him a bit of a raise. He would have to stay at that salary level, and we would have to offer a very reasonable trade in return, and have that offer beat out all the others.. Finally, there's one simple question: is the offer legit? Even if he is a headache, what makes you think that the Vikings will let him go? They're under no compulsion to trade him at all, whining aside.
  3. I'm not sure about that quite yet. Brooks, while looking good in camp is *extremely* raw. McGee is in the last year of his contract (I think) and McKelvin is under the gun to perform or perish. I see Brooks likely getting his shot if either goes down to injury or underperforms.
  4. Wait, that's a bad thing? It makes the city smell delicious. I love that smell! But in all seriousness, I highly doubt the Vikings would be broadcast anywhere outside of Minnesota on a local station unless it was a primetime game. I do believe the preseason live service or NFL rewind will help you out, OP.
  5. You know, all this hype about the Wildcat is getting me paranoid. Not because I'm afraid of the Wildcat. With all this attention, it's almost as if Rex wants people to focus on a gimmick player instead of Sanchez and the traditional ground and pound they're good at. Wait...
  6. Personally, I'm somewhat mystified about how Ruvell Martin is still on the team. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him up to keep a second kicker in Potter. Thanks for the update! One more practice!
  7. I think the the execution last Thursday was undoubtedly a failure. The question is, did it not work because we are ill suited to it or because it was the first preseason game and we are nowhere near ready? We've seen games where Fitz can undoubtedly make the reads to open things up. Also, normally, the no huddle doesn't preclude the run game where we will have two very, VERY good Running Backs. Our D looked as good as it has in years, so I can understand putting some faith in them. It deserves some experimentation, but I hope they aren't putting all their eggs in one basket on it.
  8. I'm not too surprised that they cut him. They already have enough dysfunction going to the season with all these changes. Having this problem over their heads could not have made things better.
  9. I have to assume they're doing all the things they struggled with last year all at once to get practice
  10. I'm wondering why we keep trying to play out of the no huddle...and the O is looking a lot weaker than the D
  11. I'm happy to see Moats take the lead. The man spends a lot of time trying to be part of the community and he certainly has been moved around a lot. I'd like to see him stay where he is. For people who are worried about our LB situation, I would like to mention one thing: our nickel D. Last season we played half of our snaps in it, which is going to mean pulling two LB off the field to put in Scott and our slot corner. LB may not be a strength, but it shouldn't be too big a weakness.
  12. Do I think he *CAN* be? Yes. He certainly put up the numbers while he was healthy and is a multidimensional back. And, for the most part, I think he is saying this as a way to fire himself up. Last season he had to be hungry to show his dominance as the starter as Spiller was expected to have it. He thrived off that chip on his shoulder, and now that he's the unquestioned starter he needs a different standard. Will he be? Undoubtedly the question is going to be whether he stays healthy. Our WR corps is still not where we would like it, and while Spiller is going to earn playing time we will likely be an offense which needs his help. If he can, I can certainly think of it as a possibility. If he goes down for any length of time he's going to miss out.
  13. Has anyone used the rewind last year for the regular season and knows how it works quality-wise and how quickly they update it? I'll be out of the market this fall, and this had got to be the cheapest way to watch games that I've seen. Hell, I would spend more on the bar tab for the day than what Rewind costs for the season. I'm going to be a grad student and I'm on a budget, so I can see spending the day at the library and making a party of it at midnight. Sorry to repost, but do you know any good ones? While I could definitely wait, if I dont't have too...
  14. Really, I think our CB was more important to fix. Now, please hold off on your flames for a moment and hear me out. The NFL is moving to a passing league. We ourselves showed this by moving to the spread offense, which is becoming more popular. Last season half of the time we were in the nickel, which means pulling one of our LB for a CB (or playing Bryan Scott). Furthermore, the most obvious way to beat our new and improved pass rush (which so far has looked awesome!) are quick short routes which require the CBs to play tight coverage. McGee may or may not be cut. McKelvin is fighting bust status. Florence kept getting beat and was cut. Williams is only in his second year. Meanwhile, we at least have a very solid LB in Barnett and promise in Shep. Even calling them a wash in talent, we needed to fill CB more.
  15. Umm, I'm not so sure about that. Even when he was healthy last season you could see that we has slowing down a bit. It is unfortunate, but it happens. CB relies heavily on speed, and Gilmore is pretty much a lock at this point. I would like him to make the team, but I highly doubt he would be tagging the #1 reciever.
  16. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but on the front page they talked about how Dwans Edwards was moving to linebacker. Cue a very large "WHHAAA?" Well, it turns out they meant DT. Which makes a lot more sense.
  17. This is good to hear. Yesterday people were talking about how it seemed the offense was completely dominating the D. It's good to see the Bills getting pressure.
  18. I think it takes longer for a defense to come together, and there's also the fact that since there aren't pads they can't be as physical as they would normally be. I do want to keep an eye on Tank since he had a great first day. I would love it if he somehow won a starting spot.
  19. Honestly, he won't be Jim Kelly for one Superbowl. He will be allowed to make one request of whoever calls themselves a Bills fan, and likely have a religion founded around him but to eclipse Kelly he would have to excel consistently.
  20. I'm sorry to say that McGee seems to be dropping down the depth chart. He's done a lot of work with us, and I hope that he stays on for experience but if he's already not 100%. When we drafted Gilmore I was sure that Gil would the nickel corner to start but at this point I really think it's going to be him and Williams. Apparently Gilmore got beat by Stevie a few times yesterday, but also had a few good plays. Signs of progress
