I think the general consensus is that Allen cost us this game, but has shown enough to deserve more chances, whereas Zay in his third year now has shown zip. Also, Allen has failed from almost trying to do to much, where Zay at times seems to not be making the effort (like coming back and contesting balls.)

There were two interceptions thrown to him where he showed zero initiative to fight the defender for the ball. They were bad throws, but an NFL receiver is supposed to know to come back and fight or those balls 100% of the time. Eric Wood was talking during the game about how Ryan Fitzpatrick would never throw to Zay again ater that yesterday.

The Duke Williams Bandwagon Post

Again, I'm not saying he's a sure thing, but I do think he's shown a lot. And it's not just over guys not on 53s, this one was over Tre White, and just a coupe weeks ago. -

I'm not sure that he's better, but he does have some history that indicates he can perform physically at a level similar to Zay. He was the #1 junior college recruit in 2014, and went to Auburn, where he was kicked off the team after only a few games for team rules violations (I believe he was in a barfight.) . In his first game at AUburn he had 9 catches for 154 yards and a TD. He led the CFL in receiving last year, and looked very good in preseason along with several circus catches that have made the internet rounds since he's been with the Bills. He's also a guy that has blown opportunities, and has talked about how he knows he's probably on his last chance, so I'd be very surprised if you saw him not at least contest those deep balls we saw yesterday. -
Josh Allen Failed His First Big Test
Captain Caveman replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the OP that Josh basically cost us this game (although the D kept us in it and he may have had a chance to redeem himself had he stayed conscious.) Also agree that hopefully he can learn from it and realize that the most important thing is to take what the D is giving with short and mid depth passes. Finally, I hope the WRs (and Zay Jones especially) get flogged today for not better contesting those INTs. -
Nice try Chad.

Agreed that those throws shouldn't have been made, but if a receiver isn't going to fight for a deep ball he shouldn't be on the field. I don't think it's reasonable or realistic to say that if a QB makes a bad decision he shouldn't be out there (although if he keeps making 5 bad decisions a game, he'll be gone soon enough.) I'm all for bringing Duke up and letting Zay go. -
Also, we had a missed field goal and a failed goal line stand which probably would have been a field goal instead. A lot of points left on the board, against a team that hasn’t given many up this year.

I'm impressed that he's managed to stay on the roster this long? -
I wonder if they have a blood test for being a Highlander / Immortal?

I have lost about 50 lbs since 2011, so I think most cows have lost interest.

Facebook reminded me this morning that 8 years ago I woke up in India to news of Fitz and the Bills beating the Pats. I had some coffee and toured the Taj Mahal in appropriate attire. For the fans this week who don't think it can happen, just remember, no one expected us to beat the Pats that year either.

I was at work and then had a PTA meeting go late and have been hoping all day that no one beat me to it. -

3-1 in the month of September

That's why I said we need to play a full 4 quarters, and acknowledged that we haven't so far. It doesn't mean it can't happen. -

Maybe Maybe this year. I'm not saying we're going to win, but I think it's ridiculous to say it can't happen. If our Offense and Defense can both string together 60 minutes of their best football (something we haven't done yet) we should absolutely have a chance to win this game. The Patriots look invincible but the teams they have played are a combined 0-9. If they're going to take a step forward, now is the time to do it. -

Right, so we're due. -
If we need any players I think it's at OL and maybe depth in the secondary and linebackers. I'm not saying I would mind Melvin Gordon, but I don't know how much difference he'll make unless the OL gets shored up.
