If the draft were today, we'd be ... 11th!
murra replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What? That makes no sense. Modrak's sake is not at all reliant on our record. That was reflective of the coach who is now fired. If we win, because we're actually talented, then maybe you're pointing fingers in the wrong places. I'd rather see the Bills get their first winning record in years then see another struggling team in a rebuilding stage looking for an identity come august. We ARE a winning team any way you cut it. A real coach would have beaten the Pats, and the Browns. There you go. 6-5. -
The problem is that you're placing the success rate under the category of starting. I don't want to know how many people started from day 1 at their position. While immediate impact seems best judged by this statistic, it falls under a wide range of statistics pertinent to the player's position. Being a starting O-lineman means nothing to me. Personally, while its sad to see Wood go down, he and Levitre weren't world beaters out there. I strongly believe the quickest way to build the O-line is through Free Agency. Veteran big men, poised to deal with the speed of the league. If we draft a lineman based on the percentage starting, I'll be very upset.

You know whats sad... to some fans: ~7 draft spots > a winning team. The cure to losing is winning. Not an overpaid 22 year-old crap-shoot. -
Jason Taylor vs. Aaron Maybin. Different situations, whatever. I'm sure Taylor probably played more and therefore had more chances to succeed, and so I'll give Aaron one more year. Regardless, no comparison can really be made. Taylor had 5 sacks in his rookie year, with 2 forced fumbles. Maybin has 6 tackles. Jason Taylor is 6'6 260. Maybin is more like 6'4 240.

You better hope the demise of the Pats is true. If we beat the Jets and Chiefs, and they fall to the Dolphins and Panthers, our Week 15 matchup is for the division.
-
What exactly has this guy done to show you he is a bust and, say Brian Brohm is not? Woodson was clearly better than Brohm in college. As far as his pro career, and being released by the Redskins last week, I don't understand what you have to lose to see what this kid can do. I read somewhere that he has spent time working on his mechanics with Trestman, and I really don't see how it could hurt you. The guy hurled 41 TDs his senior year. I guess we're set though at QB and can afford to pass on the possibility that this guy is a very talented athlete.
-
Essentially, we need to win the Jets game before we start talking, but if we do, all of the sudden, we're 4 straight wins from looking decent. We need the Pats to lose to us and go 2-2 in their remaining 4 games. Possible losses down the road for them, who knows, it would look actually plausible if we had just finished in week 1.

What happened to this guy? Wasn't he supposed to be a first round draft pick? Why not toss him on the squad with our ever-growing list of potential QB hopefuls? Highlight reel. Wikipedia.

The Patriots never cease to amaze me
murra replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know its a loooong shot. But, with a miracle 5-0 finish here, if the Patriots go 2-2 in their four remaining non-bills games (obviously we need to beat them, so essentially they have to finish 2-3) we make the playoffs with a tie-breaking division win. Of course this discounts the dolphins, but whatever. A man's gotta dream, and maybe this shatters the Patriots a little bit. -
Aiken doesn't look that bad. Remember how many opportunities we gave him at the wide-out position though, and he never panned out... ...Skeletor strikes again.

Businessman puts up Obama billboard
murra replied to Alaska_Darin_Is_Gay's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Quick question about the who bashing of birthers thing... I truly believe Obama was born in the US, and have no reason to be a birther or whatever, but if the issue has gotten as hot as it really is, why was it so hard for Obama to present his certificate and just end this thing? I'm sort of angered by that, more than anything. -
The Buffalo Bills at 4-7 are still barely alive
murra replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This needs to be said in all caps so the full effect of how serious our blunders are: IF WE DIDN'T BLOW THE PATRIOTS GAME THEN WE WOULD BE 5-6, THE PATRIOTS WOULD BE 6-4. WE WOULD BE ONE GAME BACK WITH A CHANCE TO TAKE THE DIVISION STRAIGHT UP WITH A WIN AGAINST THEM AT THE END OF THE SEASON. serious blunder, part II: IF WE DON'T GIVE CLEVELAND THEIR ONLY WIN OF THE SEASON (AT HOME), AND DON'T FIND A WAY TO BLOW THE PATRIOTS GAME THEN WE ARE THE DIVISION LEADERS! There you go. Simple instances of how/why this coaching staff blew the playoffs yet again. Getting rid of Jauron was too little too late. It's sad, and annoying year in and year out being able to point to two games you have no business losing as the reason why you can't make the playoffs. -

The Ronald Reagan Republican Litmus Test
murra replied to Steely Dan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
-Obama is an elitist muslim born in Kenya who goes to a Christian church run by an extremist. He is elitist. He is muslim. His pastor was an extremist. -Death Panels You guys got caught up on the name, while the concept seemed very plausible, and was more of a legitimate concern, then your assumption that the capitalism inherint in health insurance is evil. -Thinking Sarah Palin is qualified to be President She was a governor. Obama was a freshman senator. -The oxymoron of standing by the Patriot Act yet making the message of the party be "we don't want government in our lives" Wow. A Patriot act comment. Surprise, surprise. Essentially, you failing to disassociate terrorism with your freedom makes me defending the Patriot act seem a bit futile. -52% of Republicans think ACORN stole the 2008 Presidential Election for President Barack Obama. You made that **** up. -Supporting abstinence education in the face of overwhelming evidence that it leads to increased teen pregnancy Abstinence leads to pregnancy? What? -12% of NC GOP think Hawaii is not a state You made that **** up. -"Global warming is a hoax" Not getting into that. You're too predictable in the global warming debates because you believe absolutely every thing that you are told. -We are the "party of family values" while Ensign and Sanford cheat on their wives (with the knowledge of other GOPers) ...corrupt politicians somehow means Republican ideas are crazy? Spitzer says what? -Having 12 years of congress majority to reform health care your way, and complaining when Dems finally decide to do something "decide to do something"... Nice little spin there. Come up with that one on your own, did you? -Michelle Bachman: "As you know, Russia, China, Brazil, India, South Africa, many nations have lined up now and have called for an international global currency, a One World currency" Okay... -Thinking that FNC is anything except a profit machine ("this station stands for what I believe in" lol, I bet). Towards the end of your list here I can see you were starting to stretch a little bit...that's okay. Lists are hard. -Virginia Foxx: "We know that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery. It wasn’t because he was gay" -Michael Steele: "I am pro-life, always have been, always will be. I tried to present why I am pro-life while recognizing that my mother had a 'choice' before deciding to put me up for adoption." Okay, You just gave up and went to your go-to quotes and the end, nice job! -
Reed and Tasker among 25 Class of 2010 HOF Semifinalists
murra replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So they're trying to say that 6 players drafted each year are hall of famers? Is that right? Can't we make the hall something a little more prestigious? I say, one member gets picked every other year. Then it will be a truly elite class, with no debates. This year, Jerry Rice gets in, no debate. Wait two years, Emmit Smith gets in, no debate. And so on. Above average players, or players who made the pro bowl a couple times don't deserve to clog up a hall of fame. -
The Ronald Reagan Republican Litmus Test
murra replied to Steely Dan's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Right. I'll succumb to another loss if it means the Republican party breaks down and real conservative candidates can run. The political science model that shifting to the center is obviously not right. Obama won and he's leftist as possible. We don't need these Guiliani types getting any further. The party needs to split, the conservatives need to take it over, and then we can move on unified. Really. -
I know he wont, because he still have kids and grandkids, but it would be insane if he took the uncapped season running and spent like wildfire.

Shanahan met with Bills for 7 hours over 2 days
murra replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You were wrong on several different fronts. The first being that Dallas has not, and probably will not fire their coach. Secondly, we're the only team shopping right now. He took the meeting because he is on the market. It would be silly for him not to. Thridly, the report of 10 million per year stems from a crappy vic carruci article. I'm willing to bet they didn't talk money. They probably explained that "money is not an obstacle" or gave a bit on how Shanny will be getting paid more in Denver, but it makes no sense to talk money at this stage, when his agent isn't involved, and no other teams are on the market. Lastly, if you think Shanny is netting 14 million next season you're probably not the most credible member on this board. -
Exactly. Oh, and I didn't realize that a football forum isn't the place to make fun of some dude's wife. When did everyone get so damn sensitive?

Right. He wants to see what other teams there are. If we were on the top of his list, he might not have had that reply.
