Report: Bills claim TE tight end Michael Matthews
billsfreak replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, you are reading quite a bit into this insignificant signing aren't you? The guy hasn't stayed anywhere for more than a couple of games at a time. The Lions signed him after the Pats cut him during the season, after the Pats got him from Giants. Now it is a Detroit connection? A big favor? With favors like that, we will never win here. Most likely a training camp body. -
Report: Bills claim TE tight end Michael Matthews

I wouldn't get too excited, the Bills are his 4th team in the last 7 months. The only coincidence with this signing is that the Lions just acquired Scheffler from the Broncos and their first round pick from last year, Pettigrew appears to be healthy. I wouldn't count on this guy being on the field against the Phins in September. -
Yes I do have optimism, where there is some to be had. My whole question was actually a serious one, which was why do you think they will be better and more exciting when it is basically the same team. Yes T.O. didn't make a huge difference, and I wasn't a fan of the signing from the beginning, but you have to be realistic in that nobody on this roster is as good as him playing opposite of Lee Evans. We don't know how good this FO will be until they prove it. People have been saying the same thing every time they hire new people over the past decade plus. Do you think that when they hired Donohue (who screwed this organization up) people weren't saying, he was great look what he did in Pittsburgh? I have had so much optimism over the past decade and had it thrown back in my face, that now I am a little cautious to throw it around anymore until they prove it is warranted. It isn't doom and gloom for me, it is reality. I will be cheering just as hard as anyone else come sundays, but all I am saying is I am done getting my hopes up and buying the BS that they put out each year to sell tickets, and end up with the same disappointing results. I guess at this stage of the disaster that is this franchise, I would rather be pleasantly surprised if they actually do something right then continue the ongoing disappointment that has been sundays for years.

That is fine with me. After last season having to go to week 9 I believe for the second 1:00 game really sucked. They kept us as far away from primetime as they could, and I can't blame them but that is fine with me. I see probably 3-13 or 4-12 at best, but at least they will save on fuel costs, they don't go any farther west than Green Bay or Kansas City.

Seeing how Carriker sat out the entire 2009 season with a serious injury, this might be more of a project signing rather than someone that Shanahan is going to pencil right in as a starter.

Jason Taylor has signed for two years with the New York Jets. Another good signing for the division rival Jets. Coupled with the Pats signing Torry Holt today, the Bills just keep falling farther and farther out of any dream for competing in the division. Seems like every other day, someone from the AFC East, besides Buffalo makes a good signing improving themselves. Gonna be a long year for the Buffalo faithful.

Will Buffalo move up to #2 and take Bradford?
billsfreak replied to Buffalo 66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like that scenario to play out for the Bills but no way it happens. First, Ralph doesn't want to pay the #9 pick, much less Bradford, who where ever he is taken in the top 3 or 4 picks, will be the highest paid draftee. Plus, the Bills have way too many holes (more positions are holes than aren't on this team) to trade that many picks and a couple players. But you never know, it just kinda makes too much sense for the Bills to do it, so they probably won't. -
Troy could still be traded.

No Thanks. The Bills have been spinning their wheels in mud for a decade now, bringing in Smith would give us 4 NFL backups, one of which will be forced to start. What this team needs is an NFL starting quarterback, not some other teams unwanted backup. -
Ha! You are in a fantasy world. It is obvious the Bills have no desire to attempt to win this year. They are building for the future, sadly with todays NFL that doesn't work like it used to, maybe someone can tell them that. Teams go from worst to first every year, we just stay at worst and will continue to.

Per Don Banks of SI.com: There are some NFL personnel men who believe Iowa offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga is the most overrated prospect in this year's draft and say he could be the second coming of Robert Gallery once he gets to the league. If this FO is anything like the past few, this guy is ours if this projection is correct. Mike Williams version 2.

My point exactly

It might be a bit annoying, but the team told him to take his time, so he is. If anyone is pissing me off, it is the front office and Ralphy and their lack of attempt to even be competitive much less turn this mess into a winner.

Tim Graham - "Rest of AFC East leaving Bills Behind"
billsfreak replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For one, the Pats didn't need to improve themselves to be much better than the Bills, especially since the Bills have went backwards with their moves, or lack there of. And if trading for and signing possible the best WR in the NFL isn't improving your team, I don't know what is. I am a huge Bills fan, but face the truth, it is going to be at least a two team race (Pats, Jets) for the division with the Dolphins competing for a wild card possibly. All the while that happens, the Bills won't even be competitive with the rest of the division and will for all intense and purposes, be out of it by week 4 or 5. -

It is really more sad than anything else. Nobody, no matter how big of a Bills fan can deny any truth in it at all, in fact, competing in 2012 like the article says might even be a little bit of a stretch, unless someone knows something about a new owner and isn't telling us.
