Trent Edwards calls Jim Kelly Naive
billsfreak replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where a player is from doesn't have anything to do with how they play once they reach the NFL. If is does, that could explain why Lynch runs over people and gets pulled over about every day, a California boy can't drive in WNY. -

So he was supposed to form before he got here? That answers alot of my questions. -

Are you for real? What if he said that everyone who works where you work are lazy a-holes, and you say something does that mean you aren't commited to your job? Doesn't even make any sense at all. -
Why won't the Bills give a #2 pick for Gaither?
billsfreak replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Didn't we just get rid of a LT just like that about a year ago? A player who was lazy and thought he was better than he actually was so he wanted a new contract? -

Not sure he is worth the #33 pick in the 2011 draft, but we do need a LT more than anything. -

Anything Kelly says regarding the Bills will never be just another fan saying something. He has made it known that he would like to be involved in purchasing the team, and with his history with the franchise, he will never be just a fan. If George W. Bush made a comment on the current president, would it just be another concerned American stating his opinion, of course not, his comments will always be looked at differently. And we ALL haven't taken pot shots at California quarterbacks, I know I haven't and I am sure there are several others too who haven't. -

I totally agree with you. Jim Kelly is my all-time favorite player, in fact my house is almost a shrine to him, but you are right, he was wrong here. Sometimes former great athletes get in their heads that because they were great on the field that they know everything, can do anything or can say anything, and that their history as a player gives them that right. The people complaining about what Edwards said need to consider this, what if Dan Marino basically said you don't want to hang out with anyone from Western New York because they are all idiots, how many would take offense to that? My guess is almost everyone up here. Kelly will always be a legend in Buffalo, but he was wrong in this case. -
A little confused as to why the Bills would even get a vote, it should be teams that have a chance of playing in it.

I agree, watching Fitz is like watching someone who got to play through the "Make a Wish Foundation." At least with Edwards, there is a small chance he could get the mental part together and be serviceable, with Fitz, it will never happen. He doesn't have the mental or physical tools and is about as tall as Lou Piccone on a good day.

We can only hope so.

Wow! Is it April 1st or what? So if Evans gets cut, I am sure Reggie Wayne will get cut by the Colts so we can just pick him up, in fact, Peyton Manning might not make the Colts either, so we will be all set. Every single player on the list plus just about everyone else on the entire roster has a better chance of getting cut than Lee Evans does. If this team would ever get a good quarterback, not career backups trying to be starters, Evans would be in the Pro Bowl.

Not the scariest set of wideouts you are going to see. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a veteran brought in during camp or at the end of camp when cuts are made after they see how pitiful this crew is.

The perfect gift for all Bills fans
billsfreak replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The perfect gift for all Bills fans You mean we are finally getting a new owner? Yahoo!!!!!! Go Bills!!!!!!! Finally we have a chance to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Dude, you have some serious issues. You really need to seek professional help, and soon. Or maybe someone just pissed in your Honeycombs this morning, but something isn't right.

Lynch had nothing to lose by doing that interview. You couldn't think any less of him (or at least most coudn't), but it did take some stabs at the city of Buffalo and the Bills fans. Sounds like he is taking some desperate attempts at improving his image, or getting a little sympathy, maybe to improve his trade value? Hoping some teams that weren't interested will be now? Or maybe he has resigned himself to staying in Buffalo so he is trying to stop the bleeding and get on the good side of the new coaching staff hoping to get some playing time. Either way, if Nix wouldn't take a 3rd rounder for Lynch, than maybe Nix needs to go as much as Lynch does, that would have been moronic.

This team is going to be better than most think
billsfreak replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about that, the Jills are fun to look at and training camp is fun, at least there they are still tied for first place. As far as special teams, remember the kick return teams lost us two games last year. There are a few bright spots on this team (Fred Jackson, Byrd, kicking game), but they are far and few in between. Some of these people that criticize Bills fans for being realistic and stating the obvious, that the Bills are one of the worst two or three teams in the NFL are the ones who are fake. The negativity towards the team doesn't start on TBD, as much as some people want to believe this is the center of the NFL universe, it is in every publication, tv show, radio show, and anywhere else they talk about NFL teams. Where there is smoke there is usually fire, so if everyone thinks that, except a few dillusional Bills fans, it must be bad. This is about the 10th or 11th year in a row wishful thinkers on this board (and I was one of them for 5 or 6 years) keep saying this is the year, we will be better than anyone thinks, the playoff drought will end this year, etc. After awhile alot of people, like myself, finally get tired of getting their hopes up only to be let down with year in and year out disappointments. I still route for the Bills as much as ever, but I would rather a decent season for a long overdue change be a surprise and enjoy it instead of having another season of major disappointment and disgust and this losing franchise, with a losing owner, and now an unproven front office. -

This team is going to be better than most think You are probably right, because it can't be worse than most people with common sense think. -
Not to mention that Harrison never tore a team apart with his behavior and loud mouth, much less two or three teams. You can't even justify putting anyone on top of this list other than Harrison. Not only does he have a ring, he was the consumate professional, T.O. was anything but that.

What jersey would you wear from each team?
billsfreak replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Myself I have kinda given up on most current player jerseys, because before you break them in the player is on a different team. I lean towards throwback/legends jerseys: Jets-Lou Piccone Patriots-Doug Flutie Dolphins-Thurman Thomas Bills-Jim Kelly Colts - Peyton Manning Texans - Eric Moulds Titans - Eddie George Jaguars - Rob Johnson Chargers - Jack Kemp Raiders - Bobby Chandler Broncos - Randy Gradishar Chiefs - Derrick Thomas Steelers - Will Wohlford Ravens - Sam Adams Browns - Ozzie Newsome Bengals - Ken Anderson Giants - Glenn Parker Cowboys - Roger Stauback Eagles - Ron Jaworski Redskins - Andre Reed Falcons - Chris Mohr Saints - Chuck Crist (my old football coach-also played for NYG and SF) Buccaneers - Ricky Bell Panthers - Frank Reich Rams - Bill Simpson 49ers - O. J. Simpson Cardinals - Kur Warner Seahawks - Curt Warner Packers - Don Beebe Bears - Walter Payton Lions - Chris Spielmann Vikings - Chuck Foreman -
I hope he does well. In reality I hope he just makes a roster but would be nice to see him out play Hasselback and Whitehurst and take the Seahawks to the big game. Slap me, OK I am awake.

Player Contracts: They can't have it both ways.
billsfreak replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Salaries are out of hand is correct, but who pays those salaries and drove them to the point where they are ridiculous now? That's right the owners did, so they have themselves to blame. Why should one side of a contract have their hands tied to the agreement for the length of it while the other side can cancel it whenever they feel like it. -
Our quarterback situation is way beyond pathetic, disgusting and scary to think about but all said and done, I would take all four of them over Jamarcus Russell, any day of the week.
-
It won't do any good, I and most likey many others have been praying for a decade now and look what it has gotten us.

Player Contracts: They can't have it both ways.
billsfreak replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like your entire post with one exception, the no draft part. Small market teams (like Buffalo) would stand no chance of winning. The NFL would turn into the way baseball was forever, where the Yankees got all the good players, because there was no draft. Also, if you did away with all the other things listed, it would also do away with any type of revenue sharing and that would bury the small market teams. Good post, but my thoughts on it. -

billsfreak replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't like it either, but of all the sports, if any players has the right to hold out it is in the NFL. All other major sports, the contracts are guaranteed, in the NFL, a team can sign you for 6 years and cut you after one year and don't owe you anything from the remainder of the contract. I guess what I am saying is that players should honor their contracts, but so should the teams. The NFL has one of the weakest player unions in all the major sports, otherwise it would be like all other sports and the contracts would be guaranteed.
