Top 10 teams facing major stadium issues
billsfreak replied to Rob_not_Rian_Lindell's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the stadium may become a big excuse for a new owner justifying moving out of Buffalo. It isn't that bad from the average fan's persepective, but with limited space and luxury boxes, it doesn't bring in the revenue that other stadiums do, or that a new owner would most likely expect. -
Not sure who the "pundits" are, but of about 20 different grades I have seen, I haven't seen anything higher than a C. Most of them were C- or D. Most of them said the Bills draft was maybe the strangest of them all, having so many needs and drafting for luxury, didn't make much sense.
-
That is kinda old news, they talked about that while the draft was going on. I don't think I will ever understand why they didn't trade Lynch for something, as he is only going to be trouble. The new FO hasn't done a whole of of anything impressive yet, so nothing really is surprising.

Really sad day for my family

I am sure you are not in that situation alone, with the economy and the terrible condition of the Bills' organization, some would say it is common sense to let them go considering your situation. It is kinda funny that they are still putting the four Super Bowl emblems on their official letters, but then again, I guess they took too much hassle for having a pic of Brian Moorman on the other letters. I personally wish half of the season ticket holders would follow what you are doing, maybe Ralphie and the crew will get the message that it is time they put a little effort into the team, if not for themselves for the fans who are the best in the NFL. If anyone who says they are Bills fan isn't frustrated with this team, then they are really a clone of Ray Charles with earplugs in, because they obviously haven't seen or heard any of the past decade. -
The 2009/10 off season from the Hiring of a second rate coaching staff and front office, the ignoring of quality free agents to ignoring the most pressing team needs in the draft have taken me from a non-smoker to smoking those Camels with no filter on them. Before this offseason, I only used to smoke after sex, now I just throw some cold water down there and the smoke goes away.

The guy can be the biggest Bills fan in the world, and be a frustrated Bills fan, trust me, I fit that description. I am too saving quite a bit of money this year. I am cancelling the Sunday Ticket with HD (after about 8 or 9 years of paying way too much just to watch the Bills), not buying any jerseys or memorabilia, and probably not driving up from Virginia this year to attend training camp for the first time since they were at Fredonia. Am I less of a Bills fan than before, HELL NO, but am I frustrated, tired of paying money to support a team with ownership that doesn't try to win, puts a crap product on the field year and and year out, takes the cheap route with every coach they hire, Yes I am to all of these items. Will I still route for the Bills? Of course, as much as ever. Are my expectations down, yes, way down. Kinda like having a car you really love, but lately it has been running crappy, breaking down, costing you a fortune and really frustrating you. Do you still love that car-Yes you do, especially the memories, but are going to rely on it to get you where you need to go without any problems, probably not.

I agree with your point. I don't smoke anymore, and haven't in alot of years, but breathing second had smoke in a big open air stadium is going to do a fraction of the harm that living with someone who smokes will. I think the people that die from second hand smoke are around smokers on a consistent basis, kinda like those drinkers that die from liver damage, they dont get that way having one drink a week.

Very good point. Jauron is slammed on this board more than anyone (except maybe Ralph), and he didn't lose anymore than Mularkey, Williams, etc. and they are all but forgotten. Being a terrible owner, like Ralph, has a bigger negative impact on a team than a bad coach does. We will never know if Jauron could have been a good coach, if Ralphy would have let him have a team with some fricken talent on it. Coaches have come and gone from the Bills organization, front office personnel have come and gone, players have come and gone. There are only two things that have been here for all of or the majority of this franchises existence-Losing and Ralph, it isn't a coincidence or a tough one to figure out. Bills fans (and I am one of them) get their hopes up every season, but the reality is, until Ralph is gone, this team will never win again.
-
BINGO! Your post is right on, alot of people can't see the truth around here though. Some would defend Ralphie if he came and took a crap on their dinner plate in the middle of a meal.

Some people might say some of the food they serve is as unhealthy for you as the cigs or beer?

Buffalo Bills Wall of Shame (Toronto, ON)
billsfreak replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Leodis McFumble-his dumbass move to bring the ball out of the endzone got the 2009 season off to a downhill slide that they could never recover from. -
Every monday you read in the Buffalo News how many people got arrested after or during the Bills game the day before. Not sure too many of them are because they were smoking cigarettes. They need to look at the alchohol consumption a little more too, but then again taking away smoking doesn't cost Ralphy any money, taking away beer sales sure the heck would. I am a former smoker, and don't think people should be able to smoke around non-smokers, but I do think if cigarettes are legal, than in a public place, smokers should be given an area where they can smoke. The Bills make enough money, they could build a couple separate areas at the stadium, with some type of smoke eating filter system and let the smokers go kill themselves if they so desire.

Maybe the Bills organization is trying to make amends for all of the people they have caused health problems too, through stress and the anguish of watching a terrible team over the past decade. I guess if they can try to save a couple lives, it excuses, in their minds, the terrible team they put on the field. Take a life save a life. As a former smoker myself, who quit quite some time ago, I can't stand to breath in smoke now, but do sometimes wonder how discriminated against I would feel if I did still smoke. Not sure how alot of people can even afford to smoke anymore, the prices of cigs are outrageous.

Buffalo Bills Wall of Shame (Toronto, ON)

What will it be called? "Ralphy Row" How about adding: Ralph Wilson Greg Williams Jason Peters Travis "The Baby Maker" Henry -
Is Lee Evans wasting his career here?
billsfreak replied to Buffalo Beeeews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wishing he was on a team that had even the slightest chance of winning-maybe. Wasting a career at a job paying what 6 or 7 million a year-No. If you were going to rebuild, and I am wondering if the Bills ever will, why would you trade a receiver that has the speed and skills, is under contract and is still plenty young enough to play at a top level a few years down the road if they Bills ever do win again? -
Have you met them? Cool. Do they speak good English? Or are you just saying that because of their ethnicity? Kinda type casting if you are.

O.J., Chuck Knox, Jim Kelly, ???
billsfreak replied to John Gianelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think everyone hopes your right, but I am not getting my hopes up. Only time will tell, kinda the same thought alot of people had when they brought Donohue in here too. -
He was a Pro Bowler, whether it was warranted or not is for a another conversation. Let's just hope he doesn't turn into the whining money hungry lazy sack hole who thinks he is better than he is and wants a new contract every other year.
-
I think all Bills fans hope he turns out great, but he is a project and by reading most reviews, is nowhere ready to start in the NFL. Let's hope he is a steal in the draft, but still would have been better to take one up higher that has a better chance of turning into a dominant LT.

Not sure it is just one individual, but the whole organization seems to be out of whack for the past decade plus. Most of the moves they make turn to crap, few draft picks pan out, etc. Those are three of the biggest names in Bills history, but I think they are just figureheads. To prove my point, I don't think Ralph has ever hired anyone who was successful in the NFL before coming here other than Knox, he usually goes for the unknown, a coordinator or a recycled head coach who wasn't that great before. Even Levy didn't have much success before here, maybe that is why Ralph tries with people like Juaron and Gailey, hoping they come here and finally have success like Marv did. -

I didn't say a thing about them expecting anything from them, I said he is a project, and he is. Please read the entire post before you reply criticizing it. Some projects work, some don't, but you spend a little time trying to find out. Because there are no expectations this season from Brown, is exactly why he will stick around. -
Is Edwards Injury Prone?
billsfreak replied to GrudginglyPessimistic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You and I have one thing in common, we were huge Jim Kelly fans obviously, although thinking with a straight vision would tell you Kelly missed several games that weren't related to a Bursa sac. Kelly played for the Bills for 11 seasons and started all 16 games 4 times. I know once or twice they set him the last game of of the season, but figure them in and he still only started every game about half of the seasons in the league. He had knee injuries, shoulder injuries, etc, and I am not speaking bad about Kelly as he is my favorite player ever. He also had a much better line than Edwards has ever had in Buffalo which doesn't help. Now don't get me wrong, I am in no way comparing Edwards to Kelly, because you can't, one is a HOF who was surrounded by Hall of Famers and Pro Bowlers and led the greatest period in Bills history, while the other really hasn't accomplished too much, as of now. Just pointing out that your post is quite biased against Edwards as you blindly review Kelly's career. Edwards may never amount to much, but put him on the team that Kelly played with, behind the line of Hull, Ballard, etc. and there is a good chance he is an above average NFL QB. Not a huge Edwards fan, I like him but am not obsessed with him, but all of his problems haven't been entirely his fault. -

After a half dozen or so starts here, about 10 or so in Cincy and a few in St. Louis, everyone knows what you are going to get with Fitz, and it isn't an NFL starter, not even close-in fact he barely fits the bill as a backup. What the Bills need to do if they aren't going to bring in a veteran QB is start Edwards, keep him in there and find out if he can do the job. Any team that goes into the season with Fitz as the starter at QB may be making a challenge for the title of one of the worst teams in NFL history. -

I agree, they better all be working their butts off as they will be competing for their NFL lives. I believe when the dust settles, Edwards will be QB to at least start the season, but if there is one team in the NFL that might use 4 starters at QB before the season ends, it is Buffalo. Oddly, the safest one of all 4 might be Brown, since they just drafted him as a project. -
I think if anyone on this board doesn't know what they are talking about it is.......You! The roster will most likely be the following at the QB depth: 1. Trent Edwards 2. Ryan Fitz 3. Brown Either cut or on the practice squad: Brohm
