Edwards, Flutie, Fitzpatrick, Bledsoe
billsfreak replied to Marshmallow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never said winning the Superbowl wasn't every teams goal, so why do you keep bringing it up, especially when none of the players in this discussion have every played and won one. Dude, admit your wrong, we all have to do it from time to time and we get over it. Not that big of a deal. You must be an only child. -

It is in it's 4th season and it is currently shown on DirecTV 101 and will be shown next summer on NBC. They started that last season (I guess to split the costs and keep it on the air), although it was shown earlier on NBC than the following summer. It is already contracted for this season and season 5 next year. The first 3 seasons are on DVD now and are relatively affordable compared to some sets, and is well worth the money. I originally switched to DirecTV 6 or 7 years ago for the Sunday Ticket, and although I still get that (might be the last this year) I am happier to be with DirecTV because of FNL. -

You are obviously someone who won't hear that you are wrong, even though you are. I only said you were off in saying that Flutie wasn't a winner-numbers prove otherwise. Also, I don't believe Bledsoe ever played in a Superbowl that his team won, much less started in one. The question was which one would you want with this team, and if you don't think the ability to run with a line like this is important, you have yet to watch your first Bills game. If Bledsoe had half of Fluties ability to move around, he would have taken Buffalo to the playoffs at least once (which Flutie did, twice). Like I said, I like Bledsoe, and wish the Bills had him sooner, but comparing their time in Buffalo, the winning and team successes aren't even close. You say Fluties QB rating is only slightly better than Kordell Stewart, Bledsoes was only slightly better than Fluties was 77.1 to 76.3, so Bledsoes wasn't much higher than Kordell Stewarts was either. Besides, if taking a team to a Superbowl is the basis of judging a winner, Kordell Stewart took his team to as many Superbowl appearances as Bledsoe did. -
I really don't think either of them are going to be overly successful head coaches, but you can't question Williams success as a coordinator. Contrary to what you said, Washington had the leagues top rated Defense his last year or second to last year there. The defense in New Orleans is the reason they are 8-0 more so than their offense. The last 5 seasons, the Saints have had 5 defensive TDs total, this year they have 7 already. Their ratings in all phases are way higher that last year. The Titans defense got them to the Superbowl (along with a terribly bad call on a kickoff). Don't get me wrong, I would take him as a DC here but don't want to see him even interviewed as HC again, he was in way over his head when he was here.

Bills fans' heads would explode...

Even considering yesterdays Eagles game, you cant compare DJ to Reid for accomplishments. What is DJ's biggest accomplishment-one good season in Chicago on a last place schedule? Reid has had his team in half of the NFC Championship games over the past decade. Not even in the same class. -

From what I understand, the Philly radio station and other media outlets were ripping him from the beginning of the game probably until now, for his coaching yesterday. Don't kid yourself with this post, Bills fans are mild compared to Philly fans. After being stationed there for 3 seasons, I have seen first hand, the fans that boo Santa Claus and Mike Schmidt in action, and it wasn't pretty. -
The answer is "0". But how many have taken two different organizations to a Super Bowl appearance? The answer is 5-Shula (Colts/Fins), Vermeil (Eagles/Rams), Parcells (Giants/Pats), Dan Reeves (Broncos/Falcons) and yes Mike Holmgren (Packers/Seahawks). And for what it is worth, with better officiating, Holmgren could very well be the first to win with two different teams. The only reason Pittsburgh beat them was the beyond terrible one sided officiating in that game. So if what you are getting at is would I want Holmgren, in a heartbeat.

You are so far off in saying that Bledsoe is the ONLY winner in this group, almost like a whole universe off. Bledsoe's winning percentage for his career is .507 (98-95) Flutie's is .575 (38-28). Also, in just a little more than 1/3 of the games, and less than half the attempts, Flutie has more than twice as many rushing yards as Bledsoe (Flutie 338/1634-Bledsoe (385/764). If you have a good team with a good offensive line and are getting them at the beginning of their careers, I would probably take Bledsoe, but for this team right now, with the worst offensive line in football, Flutie is the only choice. His mobility would be crucial for staying alive. Bledsoe wouldn't last a few games before he got hurt with this line. Also, during their careers in Buffalo, their records in games started: Bledsoe 23-25 and Flutie 21-9-no comparison there. Bledoe has better cumulative numbers because his career was so much longer. Not dissing Bledsoe, I like him, but you can't say he is the only winner here, as all Flutie did was win, here and in the CFL where he is probably that leagues all-time biggest star. -

Even the 50 year old Flutie '09 would be about 30 players ahead of Fitzpatrick. -

Wow, this post is almost a half an hour old and no moronic, freaking retarded, uneducated, hit by a truck dumb sounding "Get'r Done Russ" post yet? Some asswipe is slipping today. -
Why wouldn't you want to look at #10 because it is Justin Bannan and he played for the Bills? That's pretty dumb actually. Not a very good look at the quality FA's, this list is pretty weak. Can't believe I am saying it, but as weak as this list is, T.O. should probably be on it.

I agree, Cowher is the Bobby Cox of the NFL. Not that making the playoffs almost every year wouldn't be an improvement, it would, but he is overrated as a postseason coach. He had homefield throughout the playoffs 4 or 5 times and got beat at home every single time, once by the Bills. I too think Holmgren would be a better choice than Cowher, and Shanahan better than both. I don't think any of these big name coaches will come to Buffalo, and even if they did, unless Ralph pays for a real football man as the GM, even the best coaches can win with no talent.

Best drama on TV and it isn't even close. This season that is the producers mission I think to turn every one against the Dillion Panthers and routing for East Dillon. Who would have thought a couple seasons ago, that everyone would be rooting against the Panthers? Kyle Chandler who plays the coach was born in Buffalo, I think he was raised somewhere else though. -
We should really consider getting Ron Jawarski
billsfreak replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jaws has said a hundred plus times on tv that he isn't interested. He has been approached several times by various teams and has turned them down. He is a great X's and O's person, but I don't think he has personnel experience? In my opinion if he was going to do anything, it may be as a coordinator, but not a GM. -
We Do Not Have The Worst Line In The NFL
billsfreak replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hangartner has sucked, plain and simple. One game he couldn't even get the ball to the QB without it hitting the ground, time and time again. One of the worst Free Agent pickups in a long time here. -
It has been said a million times on this forum, and it is so obvious. that Cowher isn't going to come to Buffalo. Not a chance in Hello. For one, Ralph wouldn't pay what it would take. Two, Ralph wouldn't give him complete control of player personnel. Three, the reason he left Pittsburgh was to be with family, the Carolina job will most likely be open after this season, and it is right in Cowhers backyard. Answer-Cowher will be the Panthers coach in 2010. Not a snowballs chance in a microwave he comes here, so don't get your hopes up or be disappointed for no reason at all.

We Do Not Have The Worst Line In The NFL
billsfreak replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As much as it pains me to say it, YES we do have the worst O-Line in the NFL. Hands down. We may have more potential on line than a few teams, but at this point in time, we are the bottom of the barrel. -
Well...at least T.O. is being realistic...

Did they ask him if he is a fan of the Bills? You know if they do and you don't say yes you are Satan and need to leave town-NOW! -
DJ isn't going anywhere, until maybe after the 2010 season, at the soonest. He is under contract and we have the tightest owner in the NFL.

I am sure he is still lazy and thinks he is better than he really is too.

So did Parrish, and he hasn't seen the field since? And what do you think about that? And and and and and and and? -
According to many on this board, before it is all said and done, Johnson will have most of Jerry Rice's records.

How about trade Fred Jackson for Willis McGahee? Or maybe send McKelvin to the State Police for PACMAN Jones?
