Schobel contemplating retirement
billsfreak replied to Delete This Account's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, those dollar numbers nowadays a about what a slightly better than average player gets, and Schobel is much, much more than slightly average, especially on a defense that is like the Island of Misfit Toys. -
If the Colts are 15-0, will NBC flex the Bills game?
billsfreak replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not even a backup quarterback, a barely surviving practice squad quarterback who zero experience. Oh yea I see a win coming! Note the sarcasm -
It might be close, but I don't think was quite as bad, Ferrigamo took a team to the Superbowl. Part of the reason the QB situation was so bad then was that the Bills used a first round pick on a QB out of Miami who wanted to play in Buffalo less than anything in the world, so he shunned them and went to a new upstart league that lasted 2 seasons. The current Bills seem like they have no plan to fix this disaster.

Who are the "many" people that believe that? Are they his relatives? Are they alive? Please list some of those many people, beside perhaps yourself. If all teams would choose Brohm over JP why did he sit on the Packers practice squad for what 3 years and no other team except Buffalo made any move to claim him? Sounds like he was real wanted don't you think? Go to Rotoworld, he is described as a "mitigated disaster" so far in the NFL.

I hope not and I don't think so, there will be too many games with playoff implications. With the real possibility that Manning might not play more than a quarter if at all, and they are playing one of the most boring teams in the NFL, they have much better choices. Maybe they learned their lesson when one of the first games they flexed was the Bills and Pats and it was a one sided blowout. -
I would take Ferragamo and Reich anyday over what we have now. Reich is the best backup this organization will ever have (and a very underrated key to the Superbowl years) and Ferragamo took a team to the Superbowl. These 3 we have now can't find their own way into the lockerroom much less the Superbowl.

I asked for a big set of fake ears and a wallet with a padlock on it so I can dress up as Ralphy. -

Someone has to buy the Yankee garbage to support them so they can buy another World Series title. -

I am not expecting it, but hope to get a new owner, new gm, new coach and about 75% of a new roster of players. Oh, and to win the lottery too, just as likely as the other stuff. -
You aren't kidding. We can put our decade team together for one season and it still finishes 3rd or 4th in the division against single season teams. Been a very forgettable decade. Has the organization ever recovered from the Music City Ripoff?

Schobel contemplating retirement

You might be the dumbest person ever to post on this board. If he is the most overrated DE ever, than we have only had one competent DE in team's history since Schobel is second all-time in sacks and is a two time Pro Bowler. Right now he may still be the best defensive player on the team. You know about as much about football as comatose pig. Any player who is a championship caliber player, which Schobel is by far, gets tired of being on a pathetic team, with a pathetic owner and a pathetic history of losing will want out. -
My team for the 2000's would be (and wow is that depressing when you look at it): QB-Bledsoe RB-Henry, Lynch FB-Gash WR-Moulds, Price, Evans TE-Riemersma T-FIna, Peters (tough to type that one-not a fan) G-R. Brown, Villareal C-Teague K- Lindell DT-P. Williams, S. Adams DE-Schobel, Kelsay LB-Cowart, Fletcher, Spikes CB-Winfield, Clements S-Malloy, Whitner (I can't put a player-Byrd-on an all-decade team with a half of a season under his belt) P-Moorman KR-McGee ST-Coy Wire

This team really is a mess. Look at the depth chart

What do the majority of these rookie recievers have in common? It is obvious, they all have veteran quarterbacks that can and know how to get a ball to a reciever, whether a rookie or a 10 year veteran. Lee Evans' biggest problem is he has had nobody since Bledsoe left who could get the ball to him. Like someone else said, if they target him 2-4 times a game, it is really tough to have 8 catches. -
Can you get any worse than having Brohm, Hamdan and Fitz as the 3 quarterbacks on an NFL roster? Most teams their backup and emergency quarterback isn't anywhere near as bad as any of our three. Shows you the pitiful state that this organization is in right now and for the past decade for that matter. I don't think any of our 3 quarterbacks would be more than a #3 or a practice squad quarterback on about 95% of the NFL's teams.

I think his decision will be affected more by what the organization does in the off season and what chance they have of competing next year. If it is an off season like the last 10 or so, and Ralph won't spend to improve, Schobel will be gone, and it will be just one more hole to fix on the defense, probably our best defensive player. -
BILLS players are too soft for East Coast!
billsfreak replied to NY Nole's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think they may be too soft for any coast. What is that, about 35 people to the IR over the past two seasons? Maybe they need to eat some Wheaties instead of Honey Nut T.O.'s for a change. Either they have had an unbelievable string of bad luck health wise or something is terribly wront at OBD. -
Byrd to I-R; Stamer, Manalak signed
billsfreak replied to LynchMob23's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Might as well forfeit, they are going to lose them both anyway, why get anyone else hurt? If Byrd is really hurt, why take a chance on playing him and risking more serious injury for such a young player with so much promise. -
It has never been that way, you are thinking of baseball. The top two seeds get a bye, the third seed plays the lowest seeded wildcard and the 4th seed plays the top seeded wildcard.
