  1. I beg to differ... 99 was much better than this team but 98 was not. The defense in 98 was solid but more of s bend but don't break. The offense was mediocre at best but had Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, plus Flutie. The team made the playoff by one play. Doug Fluties. TD run against Jax.
  2. I know the whole Doug Flutie vs Rob Johnson thing etc... but in 1998 the bills were horrendous to start the year. They the inserted Flutie and won with smoke and mirrors to claw back into the playoff race to a 10-6 record. Flutie played a lot like Tyrod until the end of the season when Moulds began to really excel. When this happened the much maligned Joe Pendry decided to implement a lot of spread 4 or 5 wide receiver sets etc.. Using Flutie's mobility and this spread offense they were able to get Flutie space and he started getting the ball down field. I think If we were to go 4 and 5 wide empty backfield and use Tyrod's mobility to create lanes and time Buffalo could open up the pass game and surprise Jax Sunday. In 98 if The Bills had better ball security they would have beaten Miami by 10. 4 bad turnovers cost them that game.
  3. It's just crazy to see a Bills media schedule in The post season... from1979-1982 I just remember playoff mania as a young football fan and Fergy's ankle injury stopped his potential Super Bowl MVP run IMO I still billeve that to this day. 1988-1999 I took it for granted the 2 years the team missed were almost a needed break. This feels like house money the curse is broken and we have a sluggers chance. This feels a little like the 2004 Red Sox down 3 games to 1 in the ALCS. Who knows how it will play out but it feels good to be in the tournament.
  4. It's funny I dusted off my Flutie jersey 5 weeks ago in hopes that wearing it again would somehow break the curse.... Not saying that had anything to do with anything but I will continue to wear it for games for the foreseeable future. Probably won't wash it until a loss...
  5. Well in all fairness I don't trust him this week... He was a Marrone hire after all. Lol Bobby April is available????
  6. I hope he gets that gig. I wanted him to be our HC very badly. Thought he was better than Marrone and Rex.
  7. Or he was in in something he couldn't contain, like the cat who swallowed the canary.
  8. Dick Lebeau also spent a stint in Buffalo I believe... Yup ... Mularky's asst. head coach
  9. I saw a turnover prone, deer in the headlights, hold the ball, one read, gun shy green horn. Also with a propensity to force ill advised throws because of over confidence in his arm. Sure he made some outstanding plays but USC should have been in the game and really out played OSU in the second half but Darnold crumbled in the red zone a couple times. Missed FG, Fumble etc.. if you are looking at raw athletic ability I.e. Arm talent, size, mobility etc... Josh Allen is The Elway of this generation. He has many flaws for sure but so does Darnold all of them have higher risk than a sure fire blue chip QB should. This is not the class of 1983 that is for sure. I say take Allen with the 25 pick he is used to cold and wind and has a huge arm (Biggest in the draft). He also has a much better delivery than Darnold no hitch, smooth with that wrist snap that Marino had.
  10. Allen reminds me a ton of Elway. Maybe just to the eye but that is what I see.
  11. Finally a play! 6:40 in the third quarter
  12. I will be first to say I have not watched much USC football. That said Darnold looks indecisive, inaccurate and gun shy. OHio State is making him look far from ready from the pros. Josh Allen has a better arm and better pro football skill set from what I've seen.
  13. When you look at the list: HC's- Doug Marrone, Mike Mularkey, Anthony Lynn Asisstants- Jim Schwartz, Dick Labeau, Wade Phillips, Perry Fewell, Aaron Kromer, (Frank Reich just because of his playing association), Jerry Gray, Nate Hackett It is is crazy how many of these people spent time on the staff in Buffalo. I do believe that perhaps we were a stepping stone for many of them but also our poor management process post Butler put this franchise in a crazy chasm.
  14. Harrison to the Pats.... that is just screwed up? Has Tomlin commented yet?
  15. This is to dispel the doom and gloom and I don't believe I have rose colored glasses on. This is my "way out on a limb post" I agree that we are mediocre and I agree roster change will occur but there are way more pieces than White and Dawkins. I'm going way out on a limb but I believe regardless of what happens down the stretch this year. 2018-2019 Defense: Hyde,Power, (Gains reisigned hopefully) White, Johnson secondary is outstanding. Add Late rounder Milano, Brown, Humber are avg/high motor. Add Mid Rounder Lawson, Washington, K-Will (if he doesn't retire), Hughes, and other rotational are below avg. A DT grinder and a sure fire pass rush end are needed and the Defense will be top 10 for sure. Lawson was playing the run lights out until he was hurt. (Ranking 7 in yards and 4 in points allowed) Offense- Glenn (healthy), incognito, Groy(center), wood (shift to guard and he'll be good for a couple more seasons), Dawkins the online is fixed with Glenn's health and Draft another tackle and Center. (Solid line) QB who knows Nate Peterman, Josh Allen, Ryan Finley (All bets are off if Tyrod Wins a playoff game though), I wanted Tyrod to be more but he is Flutie light on a good day?(Glaring weakness) If they take Allen and Finley between the 3 one will hopefully be the guy. RB- Lesean, (Cadet if he comes back from IR) draft a stud HB and FB there are plenty in this draft TE Clay (one more Year), O'Leary (some much better than we give him credit for), Logan Thomas (continue to develop) WR Kelvin Benjamin (healthy), Jordan Mathews (healthy), Donte Thompson (Healthy), Zay Jones plus draft a couple studs (top tier) (Ranking 15 in yards and 12 in points scored) Draft thoughts: pick 1 R1- QB Pick 2 R1- DT Pick 1 R2- WR Pick 2 R2- RB Pick 1 R3- OT Pick 2 R3- QB Pick 1 R4- LB Late rounds RB, LB, DB, OL Free Agent acquisition: DE- Muhammad Wilkerson 2018-2019 Record prediction-11-5 AFC east champions (even with Tyrod) 12-4 with improved QB play
  16. The initial premise of your post had a ton of merit. I can't follow your example or logic though. The fact that Kraft has officials In his pocket is a reoccurring theme. Why do you think deflategate took so long to surface... why is every major replay since the tuck rule overturned in the Pats favor? Bob Kraft has influence.
  17. 9-6 Bills just like in 1988 when we won the division. Jets and Rams win. Leaving us controlling our own destiny.
  18. Deleting a thread is above my pay grade. There is validity in the discussion here. If it needs to be merge I'm down with that. On Rodgers and league IR approval. Isn't a new physical required? I don't know all the ins and outs but some protocol must be required. One would think minimally a fine or suspension is in order.
  19. I guess I don't get either please merge thread if you feel that is necessary. It was an honest mistake but please don't be uncivil for no reason.
  20. Mods feel free to merge this with the other AR thread sorry for the redundancy.
  21. Original headline "Aaron Rodgers to be Released?" Yes if you read it that is not what it says. That headline is click bait and when that pops up on your phone you get excited. Lol
  22. There sorry that took so long.. I did not intend to mislead anyone the way ESPN headlines did.
