  1. What about Ryan Nassib?? I think he actually has more NFL potential than anyone out there is giving him credit for. I think Nassib would be great behind Fitz for a year. Then give him the keys. He has a huge arm.
  2. Alright here is the team say what you will but Chris could make a name for himself in the same market his father did. They all know that talent that has been assembled here now they just need the coaching and management team to get them playing the way the should be. I think even with Fitz and our number one draft pick future QB this staff would win with who we have. Add a draft where we pick up a future QB, a Top linebacker (Monte Tao Please, Please Please...) and a top flight number one wide receiver and this team would win from game one next year. I think Perry could turn this defense around from day one and I think he could run a hybrid without switching to a 3/4. These names (except Perry) have all been around this organization at different points this year and I think there are some signs that point to this as a possibility. The talent on this team should attract a top tier coach and it is also the reason I am done with Chan. He should have won with this roster so it is clear that the coaching staff has lost the team. I for one hope this is the direction the team goes.
  3. The replacements got a real "education" last night. Many of the have been top division I college refs but it ain't the same folks. I think Goodell was banking that good college refs would be able to handle the speed of the NFL game, Guess what? They Can't! If this is what we have for the season it will kill the league and fans will stop watching, this I guarentee. It is the equivilant of making some teams (not all) up entirely of rookies, cancelling their training camp and just throwing them in to the fray with the seasoned teams to see how they fair. It is a receipe for disaster!!
  4. I think the Bills are going to make a play for Umenyiora. I think his days in NY are numbered and I think he has a few good years left. The Giants D-line is to full and that would be a Big contract of there books. I really believe he might be the BIG acquisition Buddy is talking about.
  5. You really are a troll. Please go back to your Tom Brady worship.
  6. Willis has enough children in Buffalo alone to have his own family football team but I bet it hasn't effected his "T" levels! Think he has as many kids in B-More and Denver? If so, wow dude is prolific! Maybe his child support checks piss him off so much that his "T" level are high. Thus the good season! I don't know maybe we can just get our team on some Floyd Landis "T" patches that go under the NFL radar. Those "T" patches defintely can produce superhuman athletic results and agression anyone who watched that event knows that his performance was not human on a broken hip no less. Yeah get the team on "T" patches during the games that will fix everything! 19-0 in 2012-2013 baby!
  7. "We're Talkin'proud Buffalo" Part II the 2012 Buffalo Bills!!
  8. Trollish at best. I never thought that about you...
  9. 2 sacks and 1 forced fumble on Sunday verse the Pats Baby!!!! Go Jasper!!
  10. 4/3 amd or 3/4 aside it is a problem with the approach when this defense attacks it creates turnover opportunities! Even if they give up yards the will win if they turn the ball over. When they play read and react they are on the heels and still give up a ton of points and it is compounded by the fact that they don't create turnovers when they are passive. This then puts pressure on Fitz and he self-destructs creating a double edge sword that the team can not overcome. IMO
  11. And you are 100% correct I would just rather go down swinging if we are going to go down.
  12. Frank Reich is an interesting prospect indeed. Would he come back here as a coach. That would be a big promotion for QB coach to OC is he ready or would Jimbo be breathing down his neck if we brought him in????
  13. I liked Ryan Nassib in the 7th round or UDFA but then Syracuse just completely collapsed and he fell appart. He has a Huge arm and great size but I just don't know if he will be good enough for the NFL with the intangables. Might be a good developmental squad prospect IDK.
  14. Will the result be any different if we attack or if we get burned sitting on our heels playing read and react? A TD for the opponent is 6 pts either way if we attack maybe Brady will throw 4 picks again.
  15. In 3 games this year Buffalo Defense was among the most agressive in the league. When the Defense played a style of attack and persue football they were successful. Every time they settle into Edwards read and react hybrid B.S. the gave up HUGE Chunks of yardage and tons of points. K.C. - 213 Total net Yards Matt Cassel- 22/36 - 119 1 TD 1 Int Jamal Charles 10 att 56 yds (Alot after the game was decided) Attacked KC from the beginning of the game brought a pass rush and got in Cassel face! Redskins- 178 total net yards John Beck 20/33 208 yds 0 TDs 2 ints Ryan Torain 8 att 14 yds Attacked John Beck beginning to end of the game Denver- 293 total net yards Tim Tebow- 13/30 185 yds 1 TD 4 ints Willis McGahee 15 att 64 yds Attacked Tebow made him roll right and try to to make impossible throws against the grain (Actually they did this a little against Michael Vick too and even though it was working inexplicable stopped). They were in his face all day! Buffalo total yds over the 3 games- 1105 Total points- 104 Opponents total yards over the 3 games- 783 Total points- 20 The point being when they attacked they were successful. However they were afraid to attack much of the year and everytime Edwards settled into a read and react Defense they were unsuccessful. It doesn't matter if it is a 3/4 or a 4/3 players need to be in a position to use their talents to be successful and help the team. Saturday was a perfect example. Case and point is Chris Kelsay: Many of us have ridiculed Kelsey's play for years but Saturday he looked like a Pro Bowler. This was because someone finally figured out how to free him up in space using him sometimes as a D end sometimes as and OLB. He had space to shed his first blocker and when this happened he was able to set the edge and then attack. This is his skill set who cares if he is labeled OLB or DE use his skill set. What made this possible was the attack first mentality of the line and the linebackers. It would seem that less attention was paid to Gap responsibility and more attention was paid to getting up field and attacking the ball carrier. A la the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers (Dick Labeau). This will create vulnerablity to cut back runners (Chris Johnson) and screen teams the Patriots but that can be game planned as well. The attack first style of Defense just fits the majority of this teams players skill sets much better than the read and react style. This "D" can not function in Walt Corey's bend but don't break 3/4 because it will break everytime. Today's NFL is not well suited to that type of Defense anyway. In the other 12 games this year Buffalos opponents have gained- 4683 yds The Bills have Gained- 4117 yds In these games Buffalo was out gained by 566 total yds 3 of these games were victories but I would say none of them feature the Mr. Jeckl Defense but instead the Dr. Hyde mambee pambee read and react Defense. This would indicate that the Offense is indeed good enough and perhaps the Defense is good enough as well if Edwards would be more agreessive and abondon the read and react and run some Zone Blitz packages so on and so forth. This team could be 9-5 right now but the hope is after watching film and analyzing the season a new defensive coordinator could make this team a 12-4 team next year. We shall see but at least the team is young.
  16. You will be offered a chance to be a part of it...... I can't say anymore than that other than it is a nice piece of mind for me and I hope that some others on here are comforted by the truth. He is 100% wrong about the future plan for the team right now. I can't say the team is 100% locked up until a deal is signed and in print. It is reading comprehension that is one of the weakest skills of American education right now. I guess this is why we have to teach the "Common Core" standards in every subject area now.
  17. All I can say is I know unequivically you are 100% wrong. I will also tell you that it is about 99% sure that the Bills will be in Buffalo for the forseeable future. I can not provide specifics so don't ask. I do however know what I've been told and nothing is a sure thing so I can not say 100% but I know that there is a plan in place. I will also say that the building blocks are in place for this team. I also believe, and I am far from a conspiracy theorist, the NFL officiating has been unkind to the Buffalo pass rush all year and opposing teams know it when they look at film. The come into to Buffalo week knowing that they can HOLD and it won't be called. All the bad calls aside the lack of holding calls is my single biggest problem with officiating in Buffalo games this year. I watch alot of Football and it is definitely just Buffalo games that holding is not called in. I am surprised that the Bills coaching staff has not spoken out publically yet. It in my opinion has change the outcome of at least 3 of Buffalo's losses (Cincy, Giants, Jets II). I also believe it made the Raiders game closer than it really was. Is it a League directive? that would be most unfortunate. Is it simply that the Bills need to demonstrate that they can overcome bad officiating before their given respect. I have been a fan for a very long time. I started watching and remembering games in 1978. This change in the NFL officiating really started in about 1995-1996 it was at this point that penalties started to influence the outcome of games much more than in the past. Anyone who argues this I would point to teams like The Raiders and even the 49ers who would incur many penalties and still win. This is because these penalties were not thrown at turning point moments in the games. Flags today are thrown when the game is on the line and they are often questionable calls. This in my opinion is deplorable and perhaps Vegas is lining someones pockets it is hard to tell but I sure hope that is not the case. That said even at 8-5 this team is not going to the promise land this year so 5-8 is what is, Growth. The playoff experience would have been nice but experience for Rookies and depth is what we get to work on this year. It has always been a three year plan never two!! If the team falls on its face next year I will join the naysayers but until then I will pull for 8-8. If 1986 and 1987 never happenend 1988 would not have been possible it is always a three year plan.
  18. Twice actually 1998 and 1999 the Flutie, Johnson era.
  19. Today was awful because I knew the outcome before I even flip the TV on. Yet I sat on the edge of my seat hoping for that final posession trying to will this team to another meaningful week. I knew it wouldn't happen but I still tortured myself, my heart racing in the fourth quarter biting the inside of my lip and swearing and throwing things as I have for over ten years now (really alot longer like my whole life). Somewhere in the fourth quarter I realized amidst the injuries, untimely turnovers and nail bitting 4th quarters this team even on a 5 game skid is growing. they have answered some key questions and filled some key positions moving forward. 1. QB - I don't care what you think Fitz is a Good QB he may end up being great 2. T.E.- Scott Chandler will be a Gronkowski type for us for years to come 3. WR- Stevie is a number one and Nelson and Brad Smith are good slot receivers (A big Speedy number two would put us over the top) 4. The Oline is growing into a stength of the team for the first time in 20 years and we are developing depth 5. LB we need some good OLB's Moats is Okay but are ILB are really good Barnett is excellent and Sheperd is developing nicely. (Improving) 6. D-Line is still weak but getting better injuries have really hurt us here. 7. Secondary the young corners are going to be good McGee is done but if Williams can stay healthy I think he will be a Pro Bowler 8. RB the team is stacked and Spiller is starting to come into his own Overall- We need 2 really Good OLB's a Big Speedy Wide out and another Stud DE and this team is going to be a Juggernaut. The future is bright jus hold on. I am as disgusted with the collapse this year as anyone but the team is building quality depth that should prevent the injury bug from killing them next year.
  20. This is the worst appology of all time. I would still be angry if I was Merriman. I think a defamation lawsuit would be in the works in fact.
  21. I hope to god this is some sarcastic joke of a rant! If not you just don't get it.
  22. I am far from a "doom and gloomer" usually most posters on the board rip me for my optimism. You are definitely right about in game experience as well. I just thought Wood looked like a more instinctive football player at Guard and with the current disarray across the line the other combo of linemen seemed much more stable "in the Now". If we had a couple real road grader tackles it would seem switching Wood to center would be more logical but but the interior line was much better with our current personel with Hangartner at center. I also hope they get Levitre back on the field this week. Why haven't they tried Levitre-Wood-Rhinhardt?? Now in light of Gailey's comments I now better understand some of what was going on on Saturday. When one team "Game plans" and the other does not the one that does not is clearly going to look worse than they are and conversely the team that does will appear better than they are. Defensively Denver game planned, they ran stunts, Blitz packages etc.. So maybe that is all that is going on here in reality, after all it's preseason you can't really tell much from it.
  23. No I am not an insider but I am a former Left Tackle and I have a very good understanding of Blitz pick up and O line calls. It was clear that the oline was not recognizing Blitz packages last night and that players were reading the wrong directions on passing plays putting them out of position to carry out their blocking assignments. If players are out of position on plays they are either: A. Bad and not executing assignments B. Incorrectly reading the defense putting them out of position It seem to me that although Hangartner was weak at the point of attack last year he was very good at making the correct line calls and getting the other linemen into good positions. I think Wood may be struggling with this and a move back to Guard could strengthen the line for now. It is clear the line needs help
  24. I think moving Wood to center has weakened the line alot. Although he is better at the point of attack (in theory) he seems to be much worse at making the line calls. This also seems to be hindering his abililty to just play football. I think shifting the interior of our line back to Wood Hangman and Levitre would do alot to stabilize things right now. Bell was awful last night and against a player that frankly reminds me of Maybin. Pears was equally bad and so was Chandler. They did not read any of Denvers Blitz packages and its sad when Freedy Jackson made the best block of the night. That said I think shifting the interior line back and picking up a free agent tackle (anyone at this point) would make the line OK. Last Night was absolutely awful though.
