Id rather trade Troup for Grons. We coulda just drafted him you know? Instead we reached for a need pick at NT, when guys like Cam Thomas, who many had ranked higher, fell deep into the draft. And to think that going way back to Oct, Gronkowski was my #1 player for the 2nd round too (until Clausen fell on draft day, Im not a liar I would have taken Clausen over Grons at that point, not if I decided to take Tebow in the 1st.)

Some thoughts as the season winds down
High Mark replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes GW started 12 games last season at both free and strong safety. He started at SS when Whitner was out, and he started at SS when Byrd was out with Whitner moving to FS. He started at FS when Byrd and Whitner were out and Scott played SS. Wouldnt that make GW more of a SS than Whitner? If they both play and it is WHITNER WHO PLAYS FS WHEN THEY ARE BOTH ON THE FIELD? You would think so wouldn't you? In fact, once Whitner was back from injury GW remained in the starting lineup with Byrd, for 2-3 games IIRC. Perhaps Fewell knew who the better players was, something Dickie J didnt want to admit. No, he hasnt, he has barely played at all this year. When he has it has been as an extra DB in dime sets. GW played like a PBer the second half of last season at SS but you claim he was chewed up Talk about fabrication, its another Bills coaching miracle that he isnt playing this year (ala Greer/fJackson/Jim Leonard.) PS: The difference between the safety positions in todays NFL is very very small, and in most defenses completely interchangeable. Bottom line is a good player could succeed in either role. Whitner is not a very good player and GW is, which is why he makes plays and Whitner does not. O yea, and I forgot. GW can cover a TE, somethign Niether Byrd nor Whitner can even pretend to do. God damnmmmit do our pro personell suck donkey nuts. They screw up our drafts, screw up our FAs, and they cannot even evauluate their own dang roster for christ sake. F you Ralph for not taking on your responsibiliity and doing anythign about it. F that schmebb Russ Brandon too. Cut them all lose - scouting players is not hard to do. W fuk people are even giving up on Spiller now, after calling me an Ahole since draft day for saying he was gonna suck - what a suprise - it was so obvious that he was going to stink, just like Maybin, McKelvin, all of them. The game they play in college just !!!!!!!SCREAMS!!!!!!!! that they will stink it up in the NFL. Meanwhile I sit there going "that guy will make the PB as a rookie" and guess what, Im right! Holy crap we couldnt be any worse even if being the worst team in teh league was our goal. I hope something happens to our FO so we can be rid of their ineptitued once and for all. And it better be before Free agency and the draft start, Because holy crap If I have to watch Ryan "where is the barn let me see if I can hit it one last time I swear I wont go 0 for 10" Mallet throw interceptions for the next 5 season I am just going to snap. Worse yet they will probably take Locker - who at best has a chance at being JP Losman. O yea, Losman, McCargo, Witner - holy Fing A holes, really? Sorry for the rant. -
Here is the breakdown as it is now: Carolina picks 1st. Bills, Cincy, Denver all at 4 wins. Ariz, Cle, Dal, Det, Hou, SF, and Minn all at 5 wins (with Minn having 2 games left.) Obviously, the Bills will finish with 4 or 5 wins, so we want as many 5 win teams to get to 6 wins as possible, and as many 4 win teams to get to 5 wins as possible. That way, win or lose, the Bills have the highest possible pick in either scenario. However 4 of the current 5 win teams play each other next week, SF plays Ariz and Det plays Minn so 2 will get to 6 wins and 2 will stay at 5 (unless there is a tie which would be best case scenario as then both teams would draft behind Buffalo) Because Minn has 2 games left we should root for them to win on Tues night (extremely unlikely), get to 6 wins, then lose to Det, who would then also get to 6 wins. I am not certain but if Philly win, they *may* lock up a 1st round bye with home field out of reach so then they may play the JVs v Dal the alst week of the year who could then get to 6 wins. The Jets likely will play the JVs next week, but like I said the Eagles may do the same vrs Dal (6 wins with a win) Call me crazy but Denver is going to beat SD it will be moot if we win. Pit and Balt play Cle and Cincy respectively. Both Pit and Balt have clinched a playoff spot but will be competing for the division and a home playoff game. Depending on if one of those games is at 1, and another is bumped to 4 or 8pm, the other team may have the opportunity to play the JVs but who knows. I predict the Bills pick 2 or 3 with a loss (Denver wins and/or Cincy has a better SOS) But worst case is 4th overall with a loss. With a win, and with Dal v Philly, Cle v Pit, Cincy v Balt, Houston v Jax, we may see 1 or 2 of those teams winning which would put them behind Buffalo regardless of a win (maybe not Cincy though that would be up to the SOS) I could see Dal winning and either Houston or Cincy. Assuming the Bills win, and one of the Dal/Cle/Houston teams wins, the Bills would draft 8. Absolute best case scenario 2nd Absolute worst case scenario 9 (so technically we are just as bad or worse than last year respective to the rest of the league) Likely pick with a loss 3rd Likely pick with a win 7 or 8, prob. 8th. My vote is lose to the Jets and move up from 8th to 3rd. To put that in perspective, and according to the draft value trade chart, moving from 8 to 3 is equivalent to the 4th pick in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds. So, is beating the back up Jets more important to this team getting better and improving, or is the equivalent to a top 5 selection in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds more important? Thats a REAL easy one for me to answer.

In case anyone didnt notice, picking 9th forced us to miss out on A QB, some great D players, and OTs - wind up with a crappy small RB. Id like this draft to require as little of our scouts as possible - it needs to be completely idiot proof.

No one loses better than teh Bills, NO ONE
-
In one post you have been able to identify things the Bills havent been able to do this milenium. I hope you are teh DC next season.
-
Or to Tebow.
-
We really could use a big run stuffer like Ngata, a great pass rusher like Orakpo, and a good Rt like Bulaga. Lets not kid ourselves, before we are going to get any better we need to improve the people who make the decisions. Our scouts need to go.
-
I would bet he leads 1 category though -------- Most TD catches allow while covering a TE.
-
I like the idea of improving teh QB position but Mallet will not accomplish that.
-
I thought GW was resigned last year to a deal? Was it only for 1 years? I thought it was 3 or 4 years? But that is the easiest poll ever - the top five listed are the top 5 resigns. Unfortunately for Whitner, he was 5 of 5.
-
Wow, you are on to something - especially that Welker Part. you are onto something no coach in teh NFL has figured out to date. Cover Welker on a drag route.... Brialliant!!! PS: I am not making fun of you but totally agree. Why havent NFL coaches figured out how to cover Welker on a drag route? Seems simple enough.
-
I thought it was very accurate actually. He shoulda mention Nelson before Jones but how many UDFA rookies do you want him to mention?
-
Wilson gets a bad rep - which is somewhat deserved - because he lets players like Jabri Greer walk over 1 million dollars over 5 years, which is a very small amount in NFL terms. The he goes out a throws 3x the money for Kelsay that he deserves. A real head scratcher.
-
We dont need a WR but I would be ok with taking this kid to be one - not in the 1st though, prob not the 2nd either. Some team will get a killer talent at WR.
-
Who would have thought that before his rookie year is over - there would be a thread dedicated to getting some kind of use out of our 9th overall pick. Use him in the slot, use him on screens.... just trying to manufacture ways for him to produce. Shouldn't a top 10 pick be able to produce on his own? I know our blocking isnt great but FJ seems to find holes just fine, and Spillers ability to read the blocks he does get has been terrible, worse than Lynch ever was. Who would have known... O yea, ME! The Bills scouts blow donkey nuts and we need to listen to smart people not those idiots!

Brady has flulike symtoms - hopefully Moats has his battle axe ready
-
Mallet stinks and so does this mock. I give no credit to any mock that has Locker in the first round - let alone top 10.
-
Yea, like Bradford, Suh, McCoy, T. WIlliams, E. Berry, Okung, Haden, McClain (see a trend?), D. Bryant, Iupati, Pouncy, Bulaga, Grasham, MCCourty, JPP...... Its not uncommon for players come into the NFL and play at a PB level from day 1 - Like McCourty, Suh, Berry, D.Bryant, Crabtree, Orakpo, etc. Its even more common for them to be impact starters from day 1. Why o why - with perpetual top 12 draft picks - can the Bills not find a single impact player? Its more common these days for a top 20 pick to start as a rookie than not. We need new scouts.

They have unsuccessfully had 3 teams there already, and currently have another 1.5 hours South. They have multiple teams struggling in other cities while Buffalo is actually thriving. There is a long list of suitors that are in line before Buffalo. Besides, the NFl wants a team in this market anyways.

Anyone know where to find some serious breakdowns?
High Mark replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is pretty in-depth. The best throw of His I saw was the deep crossing route he hasnt gotten to yet. But with anythign like this on the internet, I alwasy have to question how credible the author is. There are some websites out there (many of which posters here put a lot of faith behind) which are run by 7th grade morons. This guy talks a lot but Im not too sure he knows exactly what the reads are. PS - how did he see all that with the TV view? TV never shows the coverages from the standard angle, so unless he has footage from the endzones Id have to question what he is typing about. I am startign Tebow on my fantasy team this week so he better play well haha -
I have no worries - the team aint moving. Its a cash cow with the most dedicated fan base around. The NFL knew if F'ed up when they moved the Browns which is why they brought them back. The NFL is dumb but they arent dumb enough to make that mistake again.

Stories of the Season: Kyle Williams
High Mark replied to bills_red's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been saying he was great since mid 2008 - so I guess it took me a few games to really see how well he has been playing. He was being double teamed way back then. This year he took a whole leap forward. I dont know how they rank players but they are spot on with this one - KW is one of the best big DLman in the game. Do they have other rankings on their site? I would like to see their assessments of FAs to be. I still think he should be a 5 tech in a 30 front though. -
Add him to the list~!

5 mil a year! Thats too much for an average-at-best safety! and he turned it down? Thats like Kelsay turning down his deal, he signed that thing as fast as he could before Buffalo thought about what they were doing. Id suggest Donte do the same thing!
