  1. I prefer Buddy's guys to Bills veterans.
  2. i think the improvement of the D over the course of the season has been pretty astounding personally. I know we still suck statisically but we are much better that last 4 weeks than the first 4. That doesnt mean I am agaisnt improving the team in any way we can.
  3. ditto. And yes he plays with a mean streak. played very very well tonight and was unusually great in pass protection. He seems a little limited atheltically but he is a road grader. I liked him and cannon from TCU. Pair those two together and thats a deisel side of the line.
  4. KWs season really took off once we went back to the 4-3 and his responsibilities would be more similiar at DE than NT and IMO allow him to be more successful. I dont think there are any NTs in the draft but may be a few FAs. I think if we are serious about the 34 we should add a true NT so KW can play DE.
  5. - This is what I am talking about with the "Draft experts" everyone quotes on here. any ole idiot can have a website.
  6. haha click on Cam Newtons pic and read the analysis. I have no idea what he is talking about.
  7. we have used a 4-2 nickle more than any other defense this year, most 4 man front teams do. With the multi receiver formations every team is using these days people spend more time in the nickle than their base D. The NFL is a changing Any chance Carimi or Cannon fall to our second rounder. We could use some big mean dudes.
  8. I hope Brohm plays Id like to see him out there. Maybe we could bring back Hardy
  9. Offense's most important positions: QB, LT, TE... Yea we could one, prob two.
  10. This. We assume as fans that we can go out and land starters in the 1st, 2nd, and third rounds. But why? The Bills havent done that it over ten years? Just look at teh 2007 Draft. Lynch, Pos, Edwards, Dwanye Wright, John Wendling, dereck Shouman, CJ Ahu You - only one player we selected is still on the team and most people dont think he is worth resigning. 2008 is almost as bad. McKelvin (average at best and the 5th best corner drafted in the first two rounds) Hardy, Ellis, Corner (not a bad dime package CB) Derek Fine Xaiver Omon, the onyl real hits we had were 7th rounders in SJ and Bell. 2009 we only got 3 players worht anythign and I was never a big fan of Byrd and still am not. Its safe to say everyone over-values these draft picks. No one player would make us a championship caliber team for the next 15 years then Luck. In hindsight I would trade our entire 2007 and 2008 drafts from Luck minus two obsucre and the time 7th rounders. Id even throw in the entire 2006 draft minus KW for good measure.
  11. If you put down the stat sheet you might be able to watch the games. Beside, the article isnt as much about Bradford as it is about top tier QBs and that it takes one to consistantly compete in this league. Seeing as we dont have a top teir QB, it would benifit us to get one.
  12. Here is a pretty good piece on Bradford from NFL.com. Considering Luck looks every bit as good as Bradford did, it might be worth the sacrifice to move up. St. Louis is playing for a playoff berth because of Bradford. Don't kid yourself into thinking the Rams would be here without him. He's more than validated himself as the top overall draft pick, and has re-confirmed the trend that quarterbacks drafted high can play right away -- and win. Bradford has also shown that if a team has a good quarterback, the odds of success greatly increase. The NFC West, whose champion will post a record no better than 8-8, provides the glaring example. Arizona: Quarterback issues, out of the playoff picture. San Francisco: Quarterback issues, out of the playoff picture. Seattle: Quarterback issues, but not so disruptive that it's out of playoff contention. Still, because of injuries, backup Charlie Whitehurst is expected to start the Seahawks' most important game of the season. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81d41692/article/bradfords-accelerated-success-has-raised-the-stakes-in-st-louis?module=HP_cp2
  13. Throw is a Bulaga or Iupati in there and that is eerily similar to my pre-draft rankings. Stupid Bills.
  14. He was only a junior this year I thought so no senior bowl. Obviously it only takes one team for him to go top 5 but seeing as Bryant fell to the 20s I could see Quinn falling just as far. FWIF If we lose this week and draft top 3/4, I wouldn’t take him unless we moved back.
  15. Why does it seem like so many accept the excuse of "thats who they had rated as BPA so thats who they took/They liked him and they took him I have no problem with that" This is routinely throw out there as a reason for our terrible picks to be ok. essentailly what you are saying is "our scouts are completely incompetant yet I dont care as long as they get the guy they like best" My biggest beef with our scouts in drafting Spiller/Maybin/McKelvin is the fact that they had those players rated as BPA! When they were clearly not - as proven by their production on the field. When did we learn that? And then why were all the anouncements of us trying to trade up made after he was selected? And to go with my above post - just F'ing great. Buddy tris to trade up for a WR that isnt the clear cut best WR out there in Dez Bryant :wallbash:
  16. That was the point of this thread. All of these guys are great players who will not be drafted as high as they should be for reason that have nothing to do with football. 2 were suspended for meeting with agents and accepting gifts (the gifts were free flights to Miami/California to train with NFL football players at the agents training facility, and some diamond jewelry) and 1 had cancer – hardly a character concern. The 4th rounder is a steal in the 4th IMO and has no off field issues to my knowledge. I don’t know any of them personally but Herzlich seems like a real leader and I think Carpenter is the senoir leader on the very good ‘Bama OL. Just trying to spark some debate here and find out if there are other players like these guys out there I don’t know about.
  17. Seeing as how Dez Bryant was a top 5 talent in last years draft, and he fell into the 20s because of non-football reason (hanging with Deon and then lying about it) I think the Bills should use this to draft top tier talent with great value this year. Rd1: If we win Sunday we will likely be picking 7 or 8 – just missing out on all the top 5 talent, or will we? Robert Quinn, 6’4 270lbs from NC coulda been a top 5 lock if he played this year, but he was suspended for meeting with agents. He could play 4-3 DE or 34 OLB, but likely more of a fit at DE. I honestly see him falling into the 20’s just like Bryant did last year, so maybe the Bills could trade back into the teens, add some much needed picks, and still get him. He is risky having not played in many games but that hasn’t hurt JPP this year with the Gmen and he should not be compared to Maybin bc they are not similar players in any way. Getting a top 5 talent outside the top 5 is always a great thing. RD2: Quinn’s teammate Marvin Austin, DT/DE was also suspended for the same reason as Quinn. Austin is 6’3’’ and 310 and quick as a cat, he plays like Warren Sap but obviously not as good. He could play 3 or 5 tech for Buffalo, assuming we use more of a 1 gap 3-4 (like Wade runs, not like the Steelers run) if that is what we decide to do. Regardless he is a good player and good players can play anywhere. He was a top 25 prospect until suspension and will be on the board when we draft in the 2nd. Top 25 prospects in the 2nd round is great value. RD3: Mark Herzlich, 6’4’’ 240 LB from Boston College. He started every game his first 3 years at BC, earning AA honors after his Jr year and made the freshman AA team. He was a finalist for the Butkis award as the nation’s top LB. He was ranked as the 45th best Pro prospect that year, before deciding to return for his Senior year in what should have been 2009. He was diagnosed with Cancer in May of ‘09, and remarkable was cancer free by mid September of ‘09. This did cause him to miss the 2009 season and return – understandably not at 100% - in 2010. He has the size to play at LB in the 34 and the skills to succeed in the 43. This is a monster in the waiting. Drafting a late first round talent from 2009 in the 3rd round of 2010= great value. RD4: I’m not sure if he will still be on the board here but the LT from ‘Bama, James Carpenter, is a road grading stud. He hasn’t been suspended or anything but he could be a starter for our OL at G or RT. I really like him so I had to put him in here. In conclusion we could have landed 3 first round talents with our first 3 picks which fill 3 of our biggest needs, and add a very talented OLman who is being under rated by everyone and their mother, who also fills a huge need. A+ draft grade. Please feel free to add any other players who you think will slide for stupid reasons, ie suspensions, testing positive for weed, disease, injury, slow 40 times, etc. *I didn’t mention Pryor cause I don’t want him for anything but WR and he hasn’t declared yet*
  18. Tebow throws a very good deep ball, actually his best passes are always deep balls. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2010122609/2010/REG16/texans@broncos#tab:watch He has some sweet throws there, mainly the second half of the video. The one where he is falling abckwards is very impressive. Also check out the video with him miced up on the main page, its pretty cool. at the end of the game, he runs to his coach and says "no one else carries teh ball here" Then goes to the huddle, calls a QB run play, and guarantees they score/win the game. Then he proceeds to score on the enxt play - really cool.
  19. You forgot one key element, and that is both of their's boss, Mr. Wilson.
  20. Yes there are many. For the record the first round of the draft was held on April 22nd, not all of these are pre draft, but all are before teh season. In this first post I come right out and say that I dont see Spiller as first round meterial. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/111759-is-there-a-player-the-bills-could-possibly-take-at-9/page__p__1826048__hl__bryant__fromsearch__1#entry1826048 Here is one where I call him a gimmick RB/return man only. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/111817-is-cj-spiller-sending-a-coded-message-to-the-bills/page__p__1827270__hl__spiller__fromsearch__1#entry1827270 more of the same http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/111880-spiller-top-choice/page__p__1827896__hl__spiller__fromsearch__1#entry1827896 haha i like tebow http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/112130-1st-round-wrapup/page__p__1832652__hl__spiller__fromsearch__1#entry1832652 I still like Tebow http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/112176-drafting-quality-v-need/page__p__1833240__hl__spiller__fromsearch__1#entry1833240 I am still waiting for my apology http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/112162-charles-davislol/page__p__1833256__hl__spiller__fromsearch__1#entry1833256 EDIT: This one I say Id rather have Iupati, Puncy, Spikes over D Bryant, who I would have taken over spiller, which is in the last link. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/111874-dez-bryant/page__p__1827895__hl__bryant__fromsearch__1 http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/116240-in-case-you-were-wondering-why-we-drafted-spiller-9th/page__st__20__p__1914592__hl__%22over+spiller%22__fromsearch__1#entry1914592 END EDIT. And of course, the crowning jewel.... Almost the exact same post from August. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/117479-gailey-already-blaming-o-line/page__st__100__p__1938101__hl__bryant__fromsearch__1#entry1938101 Now I know I have some of the strongest opinions on this board and I voice them openly. I, along with many other posters, predicted exactly what has happened so far with Spiller. I may not be a genious but I have had a pretty good streak of elauating college players for the NFL the last few years. Over the past 10 years my dream first three rounds have been light years better than the Bills. Drafting better than the Bills is so easy an internet poster can do it and remain undefeated! Thats how bad it is at OBD.
  21. I hate this statement and have read it a few times today. Me personally? I would have liked almost any other player drafted in the first round, and a few in the second, over Spiller. Bulaga, Iupati, and Pouncy on the OL, JPP, D.Morgan, B.Graham, on the DL. Hell even Lamarr Houston. Him, Gronkowski and B Spikes all went after our second round pick and I would have preferred all three of them to Spiller 10 times over. Not just for this season but for the next 15 season moving forward. I would have taken Gerhart and Best before Spiller if I had to pick a RB. Hell, I would have taken Tebow to play RB before Spiller! I also would have taken a flyer on him to play QB before spissing away a pick on Spiller. Clausen too. Dez Bryant was the true BPA, he would have been much better. We could have used Grasham for sure – he was a better prospect than Spiller if you ask me.. Hell, I would have snapped if we took Earl Thomas, but if they came out and said “it came down to Thomas or Spiller and we took Thomas” I would have at least been able to feel a little bit better about it because I would have rather had Thomas too. Crap, I just had to Wikipedia the 2010 draft and look through the entire first round because I couldn’t think of a single player I wouldn’t have preferred to Spiller. Leaving out all of the CBs, there is only one player I would have even remotely considered Spiller over, and that is Anthony Davis. Even still that’s a stretch as I am sure I would have reached for the heavens for a T before reaching for a KR. You just don’t take KRs in the top 10!!!!!
  22. Yes its extremely likely actually. You have to remembers that Tebow is the face of that franchise, the QB of the future, and is currently starting. Considering he has played better than expected and has been pretty impressive in his short time on the field, why bench him? The Rams wouldn’t bench Bradford if they still had Bulger on the roster, so why should the Broncos bench Tebow? And I could see the Cards giving up some picks for Orton, or the 49ers, or even the Panthers, Vikes, heck the Bungles are a long shot too. Lots of teams need a good QB and a bidding war could cause Orton to fetch a pretty penny. We may even be in the mix, you never know.
  23. Not really. He wasn’t asked the question straight up. He actually went out of his way to say how smart the kid is when it comes to defensive football. He talked about his football IQ like it was superior to his athletic ability. I was never a fan of drafting Newton until now. Im not sure if he will like Buffalo or not (prob not) but if he is a player we should grab him. I actually do have confidence in Buddy Chan being able to assess a QBs mind. They knew to go after Tebow and to stay away from Clausen when most everyone was leaning the other way, and the only explanation would be those two guys mental understanding of the game. PS Newtons arm is not stronger than Tebow whoever said that. You may not like Tebow but the dude throws lazers. He had some throws in the Houston game (60+ yarders on a frozen rope while rolling out) that only Vick or the 1998 Farve could have made. Even I was surprised he could do that. Newtons is not weak, but Tebow is in the top 1% in terms of arm strength.
  24. KW played like an elite all pro this year. Outside of maybe Ngata and Suh, there wasn’t an interior DLman playing better this year. That puts him above all those PBers. Maybe you aren’t happy how he has gotten pushed around sometimes, but relative to all the other players in the league at his position, he played like a top 3 player, if not the best of the bunch.
  25. I think I may owe Mr. Gabbert an apology. I only watched the first half last night because it was so late but he seemed to be making some very good pre-snap reads and knew where the open receiver was going to be before the ball was snapped. He still was a bit hesitant when things didn’t go as planned though, but much better last night than my previous assessment. Obviously he ahs all the height/weight/arm strength you could want. Accuracy is much better than Mallet and Locker combined but not elite. He is a good prospect if he passes the Buddy Chan mental intelligence evaluation. Adrian Clayborne also looked much improved last night from previous games this season. Still not as good as Fairley but he could be a stud 2 gap 34 end.
